i have the previous one
and it was a good folk, sometimes fuzzed out, album.
sorry but...
...still prefere Fur And Gold. This one sounds too 80's for me, it recalls in mind things i don't like to remember...all that plastic pop....maybe for a lot of people it has a kind of nostalgic flavour, but it doesn't make it sound better.
You must be deaf, or too young
Really don't understand what they're supposed to do different with a minal drum kit and a slide gtr. What do you expect from them? Progressive suites? If you don't dig that stuff you're not compelled to write about it. They're really good, far better than White Stripes and the latest Black Keys, just to name two.
thumbs down
perfect, you just stole the letters from my keyboard! Not even one that represent my musical choices this year so far, maybe Wyatt, but for what he has done in the past than now. I would have vote for Left Lane Cruiser, but i think you don't know them....
why?
What's the aim of this remix? The original version was far better than this, with a slower and much fascinating atmosphere. Where's the sitar sample gone?
maybe too mellow
but still good vibes from the Meadows. Still prefere feathers as the perfect communion between sabs riffs and acid medleys, but that Old Growth has stunning episodes too. Other tracks (sorry forgot the names) sound really TOO Brian Jonestown Massacre for my ears, and for me it's far from a compliment.
mmhhh
I love BM, since the first album, saw them with Dead Meadow in Italy 3 years agom, they were wonderful. But i think i can agree sometimes with people like williamforce. I mean this album walks on a razor's edge, and sometimes it gets cut. Is always between cheesy metal flying V stuff, and modern 70's influenced Hard Prog, with a light scent of Kraut sound. I mostly dig this stuff, so i love them. But i think that this time they've been less focused on the tracks. Tyrants is amazing i agree, but Bright Lights is almost a complete failure, in my POV. Thta guitar that breaks in after 3min ruins all the atmosphere! And the cheesy organ that erupts in the middle of an otherwise beautiful "Angels"? Still a very good album, but not the masterpiece everybody's talking about. And it do not develop anything done before, it simply moved to a parallel lane on the same direction. Remember No Hits on the first.
saw them live in Italy....
....a month ago. When they WANT to play (as expected) they're brilliant. One of the best folk psych noise act around, absolutely. The point is that they self indulged in cabaret. Ok one time is ok, you try to create a communion with people and i agree. I do not agree in keeping this thing for half the gig. I didn't ride for 300 km to see a middle school class party, with 20 something acting like they've invented this kind of jokes with the audience. I suspect they're a little bit already lost in their carachters. Maybe i'm wrong maybe i'm right...hope i'm wrong.

making parallels
or just putting Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized in the same sentence is pure heresy. The first is a mind melting sound creature, the latter (except the first album) a balls-melting ego playground for Pierce's dreams of grandeur. Much better Boom and his Spectrum, even if too much Spacemen-like.
