arab strap
the week never starts around here?
is the 10" only going to be available from subpop website? shipping's more than the cost of the vinyl.
that airport song is gorgeous
just in case anyone is interested
The Icarus Line are NOT playing the Joiners.
They were offered the show, but turned it down. Why they're now saying they are playing there is anyone's guess.
Oi!
What's with the Joiners date?
The Joiners website says Venice Ahoy be playing the Joiners on August 4th?
one-off gig
there's also a date at the Yeovil Ski Lodge on September 21st
eh?
Over-rated by whom?
Erm
In response to the coke jibe... I always believed it was the Klaxons "talking shit" in the NME- declaring themselves to be nu-rave as a joke- that led to said magazine running with the nu-rave moniker and scene. So it's hardly a new thing for them to do. I guess DiS have bought into what The Klaxons say the new direction will be, in the same was as the NME did?
pedant
Jamie T sings-a-verse and doesnt touch the chorus. A lady sings on the chorus, but her and her band's name escapes me.
All the "remixes" are available only online.
The physical formats contain two new tracks and a radio version of Silver. Aint seen owt about a 5", just two 7"s, so no idea what's on that.
And the name of the single is A Day In The Life.
eh?
how do you know a good song wont be writed?
"cant we agree to disagree?"
Not when you're accusing the people you're disagreeing with of being ripped off. Strikes me as hypocritical.
You know what?
The Super Furry Animals are great. This news is great.
I'm looking forward to the next album almost as much as I cannae wait for the The Good The Bad The Queen, and seeing em live in Pompy. I predict 2007 to be a goodgood year. 2006 has been real horrowshow
bland
.
she beat you to it
she already made the beaver joke herself. on PopWorld
tickets
everytime i buy tickets for a gig like this i just spend the next few hours cursing gigsandtours.com or seetickets or whatever the moneygrabbers names are.
Re: Southsea?!?!
SOUTHSEA!!!!
Well Buy One Then!
Mos Def worth it.
If only for the live versions of Gilding/Blood, the original demo version of Islands and the glossy booklet. Full band version of The Girl I Loved aint half bad too.
sarah not being a good authority on music
surely she's quite a good authority on pop though.
Yeepers
Love it! we know who must get all the groupies with a sense of humour like that! (mogwai? groupies? tell me it's so)
breton
i really wana know where i can get a breton t-shirt, and what one is!
to be honest the crowd is bound to be very mixed. and probably full of cunts. but thats the way of the world.
tickets for the pompy gig I'm going to were going for £100 a pair on e-bay, so you have to take everything with a grain of salt.
carl's a cunt. fucking 'ell. stitching up a mate after he robs your flat and doesnt bother turning up for gigs, he needs to display more tolerence.
I hear it was dinero
It didnt have anything to do with fame, or lack of ideas.
Apparently they were just sick of slogging their guts out and not making any money from it!
breton?
oh, and what the fuck is a breton t-shirt? presume it's some kind of designer/brand?
is it the black and white horizontal stripes?
As I say...ignoramus
I dont know if it's a lack of critical capabilities, or just plain old lack of musical knowledge, but I really couldnt answer that question. If I did have more knowledge I dont know if I'd want to use it.
To me the music I like/dont like is simply an input/output response which goes something like... "do I like it?". Rather simple. But it works for me.
For example I went to see The Rakes last night and thought they were fucking incredible. Superb gig. Superb songs. But I couldnt critically analyse the worth of the songs or the craftsmenship involved. Lyrics are about the only thing I can happily discuss on that kind of level. And then I can happily ignore their quality if I enjoy the song enough :)
Which really brings me to the point I'd like to make which is... I find posts like the one's anschul made arrogant. To seemingly dismiss peoples enjoyment of songs, and put across the view that the opinions of certain people are less valid than their's. I'm hypocritical in that way, as I'll happily outright dismiss certain artists and their fans. But i'll at least explain my opinion, and give a reason for it, beyond saying really open statements like "bad songwriting". It's also why I'll happily state that the Babyshambles album was one of my favourite albums of last year, and could give a reasoned respone as to why, without having to attempt to discuss the musicians capabilities.
rant over.
Still Take You Home
it's a good album, but this songs content is fucking arrogant, and not really very good. Making me think the boy is really a cock. a lot of what they say stinks of arrogance, and this nice boy image is just that.
it's wack?
It's wack, to the back...bone?
explain why people like something? why do I like cake?
In what way is the Dirty Pretty Things track badly written? I'm obviously an ignoramus Libertines fan, so an explanation of what makes a song badly written, in particular this one, would be handy.
If the badly produced thing is in reference to Bang Bang, then that may come down to it being a demo.
I'd say a lot of it is down to Libertines fans wanting more, yes. To be fair, I'm going, and I hadnt even really watched the video. I predict I'll have an excellent night regardless. Not sure I'd pay nearly £100 for a pair of tickets like some people are on ebay.
You make it quite clear you think you're above people who listen to The Libertines, Babyshambles, etc, but I'm sure you could dignify my post with a reasoned explanation of what is wrong with the song writing.
Arab Strap get Foppy
Oh we do like to tour alongside the Sea Power...

Re: The Jim Muir Slideshow - Tomorrows world, today. N
I think I caught Jim Noir on CD:UK or something similar. In a new singles section or other.
Sounded decent, but I havent gotten around to investigating further.
Mr Nobody - Sweetings EP
Re: Carling Weekend: Reading & Leeds: Preview
but how do pubs water down their beer? Have a seperate water line running into the beer lines? Wouldnt this make the beer flat?
Or do they somehow buy it pre-watered down? i.e not what's on the label...?
Or splice open the barrel on arrival, remove some beer, and add some water? I'd like to see this done.
Methinks plastic pint glasses are the true evil.
Re: 'Hope' for November- Dirty Three Tour

Komakino join NME New Music tour... Sign to DiS.
A bit bemused by the Joy Division references. In sound anyway. Thought there were more shades of Placebo, particularly vocally.
I thought BoyKillBoy were awful though.
