i've seen em several times, but this gig just shat all over those other ones. i think it was the combination of the venue, the setlist, the crowd, the immense thought and effort that the band had put into the show and so on.

its all subjective though aint it.

how about artists like Cosmicdust, Guitar, Guitaro, Southpacific, The Voices, Heaviness and so on.

So so many acts out there extending the sound that MBV put out there all those years ago.

august 2nd show at the luminaire has Working For A Nuclear Free City and Epic45 supporting.

they are one of the recent ones that have really created something special. excellent both live and recorded.

its a tricky one. personally, i think it has to be something really fucking special to be good post-rock. its very very easy to be an average post-rock band...

ive seen too many of those average ones recently, and i cant help but laugh alot of the time -- its just so obvious. ahh, here comes the glockenspiel... ooh, they are building up to the loud bit - ahh here's the loud bit! and now they are all spazzing out and ... oh yes - half the band are playing the drums along with the drummer. and so on.

are also playing supporting Adam Franklin (Swervedriver) at the Luminaire on Friday 1st Feb.

this is a club ac30 night, with ulrich schnauss supporting with a full live set, and one other act to be announced soon.

be nice if they did well next year.

same night as our AC30 Xmas Party at the water rats... although ours starts at 8pm so making both is possible!

ours is live: longview w/ ulrich schnauss + pete fijalkowski + epic45 + spc-eco with djs: robert dillam (adorable) simon scott (televise / slowdive) and mat flint (revolver / death in vegas / deep cut). fun fun fun.

the lack of epic45 on this list makes it redundant. kinda surprised given that you gave it a 9/10!

just what i was thinking. utterly bizzare lineup.

eventually yes, our stuff will be on emusic. the only thing holding that back is basically the returns from emusic are cock all compared to the other digital outlets - so the work involved to get the catalogue on there by our aggregator isnt too high up the list.

The Industry Club AC30 gig is with Crippled Black Phoenix, not Logh (Logh cancelled their UK leg of the tour for family reasons).

gonna be fun fitting CBP on the stage in industry! should be a fun gig.

my album of last year. by a long way. great that it has been released properly in the UK.

the live show is something to behold as well. they play most of the tracks from this album synced to pretty shocking video of war, animal cruelty and various other things that are quite hard to watch. stunning stuff.

Glad to see this get a glowing review here... really has been one of the best albums of the last few years.

think i'll pop up for the sennen / telescopes / televise / dan cutts one. really curious to hear what dan is up to now after lyca sleep.

they didn't have a work permit.

i thought the saturday was pretty poor, but the sunday was great. massive attack were ace with liz frazer etc, bloc party did a good set, as did mogwai.

tis true. she even tried to play a guitar at one point which was really cringeworthy.

funny thing is, she didnt really bomb... she just went down ok to an indifferent crowd. shouting stuff like "whats my motherfucking name" doesnt really endear yourself either. i guess she is so used to rapturous applause from crowds that when that didnt appear she stormed off in a huff (and then a helicopter).

oh, and there was no act on the main stage while she was on at the dance tent. contracts eh.

i swear they played the ica a while back... was that cancelled?

the supports are worth going for alone! tape are fucking excellent.

what was wrong with the dj equipment there? i found the bar staff to be really nice also!
