Good
& lovely.
Perhaps then
it's the lack of soul or feeling. The instruments aren't emotional enough to drag you in and make you feel a certain mood, and the lyrics don't even bear talking about. It's like a mundanely clinical lesson on how to tap-on and pull-off.
I am
very glad.

Antidotes is boring. So a couple of songs are enjoyable, they just don't last beyond a couple of listens.
The song Cassius is a good sum up of the album. Maybe exciting at first, before long it becomes repetitive and dull and you'll be screaming for it to stop.
And what the hell were they thinking, slowing Two Steps Twice down?
Not impressive at all.

Cassadaga
was far from poor and is certainly one of, if not, the strongest Bright Eyes LP to date.
And surely, starting a new solo project hardly makes you an egomaniac? Lots of songwriters take that path when they feel the music they're writing is on a different plane or has a different feel or message about it. Quite understandable.
Although, yeah, the live stuff I've heard has been good.
