Maybe my hearing aid battery is flat
But this reads like one big troll. And made no sense, sorry, what exactly WAS the point other than you hate Swells?
I was never a fan of his writing in the past, as that has often veered too much into "ooh-look-at-me-aren't-I-good-because-I'm-being-controversial" bobbins, strange then merely to ape it in this long angry blog. And Swells' reply was a lot funnier than the original too. Never mind.
I just don't get the whole your age determines your taste in music thing. There are people of 17 who like the most awful conservative rehashed bollocks, and there are people in their 40s/50s/60s suppporting new and exciting music. The only thing I find about being a bit older than I used to be is that it's a bit harder to find stuff that interests me because it isn't just recapping something else 20 years ago. Which, I'm fairly sure, is the opposite of what people think is the normal ageing process. And I suppose that I'm not scared to say I like a lot of pop music, and swing, and drum'n'bass, because you're allowed to like more than one type of music (although to be fair I got over that stupid attitude aged about 22), but am bored rigid by most fashionable-music-that-claims-to-be-indie, and I don't feel like I have to prove myself to anyone and couldn't give a shit if people think I'm cool or not. (Although I was moderately annoyed when Sean invited me to thequietus on the basis he thinks old people need different music. Balls to that.)
Vive le difference. AKA: whatever...

at long last i remembered to put it on the internet
http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=36103572&blogID=323162704
we'll give it a go
I'll let you know when i hear back from Madonna!
fanks
for the lovely revoo
I have one nitpicking issue!
"for those who’ve travelled many miles to play the Silver Rocket club, first on, for less than their fuel costs"
Mr Mike Diver that doesn't happen! Everyone gets paid (except, I think, 2 bands in 7 years), and we always try and cover everyone's costs, pay to play sucks. Even when we do shows at RoTa we pay people's travel costs. So there!
That box, you're right, it was expensive. But lovely!
the black goo
used to somehow permeate my fingernails after every club. Very odd, considering I didn't go scraping my hands along the floor *that* often.
I only hope they don't put the price up to traditional Barfly hire prices.
silver rocket
is available for weddings and birthdays too! Looking forward to DJing on Saturday as it happens. This will be our second wedding DJing!!
no they stole my idea!
That was how I was promoting our rota show, except it was something black (and no I don't read pitchfork)
Ooh, i'm reet cross now. Well OK I'm not, but I might be if I wasn't so tired. Well, probably ot even then to be fair. Why am I even writing this?
^ start
duh
Ah well...
...if you want to put manly sports over music then I don't have much sympathy!
The line-up randomisation is because how on earth else am I supposed to pick a headliner out of the 8+ headline bands playing? Hmm?
We will be picking bands 2 bands in advance so there'll be a good hour and a half's notice (except right at the start I guess when there'll only be an hour's notice) if you want to pop in from the bar and see.
Bands won't atart till 2 if that's any help with the moving house thing.
i danced
to hoodie, although I think there were only 2 of us dancing, but what do i know, i don't remember the whole weekend it could have been booze tunnel vision
MMISL
have just been added to our 18th may show with 3hos, Silent Front and The Get-Outs.
this is going to be great.
^you^
finger dyslexia, sorry
i think
keithtrevorallen makes it all a bit pointless to reply to his poorly conceived angry responses because he's just making himself look bad, especially when he's accidentally agreeing with us half of the time anyway by agreeing yuo don't look at fat rock stars and want to copy them, but here's a go from a medical perspective anyway...
actually although overweight people do have a slightly higher death rate than people who aren't, there is no evidence that losing weight makes people live any longer, and being underweight is far more lethal.
i assume keith.. that you don't smoke, drink, take any drugs, drive, have any family members with a major illness or otherwise have some unfortunate combination of genes you don't know about yourself yet, or you plan to have kids, and that you also eat perfectly healthily, exercise regularly, pay taxes, and look both ways before crossing the road so you are not a burden on the NHS yourself?
meanwhile, boys, if you want to disagree with ditto's comments in future because you think they're stupid feel free to do this by countering them with sensible opinions (like some have done above) without invoking some sort of insults on her body and sexuality and you'll find you don't get lots of replies calling you a twat.
humm
oh no, a woman is fat and not attractive, best she keep her mouth shut and not express any opinions
men in bands don't have to be attractive though do they? we expect most blokes in bands to be mingers and whine a lot, cos they're, like, good at writing songs cos they were, like, so miserable cos nobody would, like, date them or whatever [last sentence best read in whiny teen US accent] but women have to be attractive and keep their gob shut unless they are sucking you off perhaps
splendid
collapse
can't play on saturday now unfortunately. We are replacing them with mr "I feel cheated" TheoGB's band Pocus Whiteface.
are there any music venues in London
they're NOT trying to knock down?
good riddance
we went once in 2002 and for the first 10 minutes we were there music was ok then it was shite dance versions of half decent songs all night, populated largely by scenester twats on too much coke, the door guy wouldn't let us leave any flyers because he said we were competition (I pointed out we were on a completely different night it didn't make any difference). I lost my rag at that point being extremely frustrated and threw my half inch of water at him, and then the bouncer drenched me with water out of a speay gun.
We didn't go back. Based on our experience if that club had anything to do with music I'll eat my Elmo. I like places where people trade flyers, dress how they like, and the music counts.
15th dec
is silver rocket in London (Buffalo Bar)
Liverpool is 16 dec!
Reynolds
can't play any more, medical emergency got in the way
we are rescheduling them
kling klang, twinkie and stranger son makes a damn good bill anyway
this was almost right
Reynolds are playing at silver rocket again but not upstairs at the garage, instead it's the buffalo bar...
You should indeed
know them and indeed have Stranger SOn of WB as a profile on DiS Mr Diver
listen here
http://www.myspace.com/strangersonofwb
why are we so nice to you? hmm?
booze
i want booze
we're still older than you
babies...
i'll cry
would you want that?
i just listened
to siobhan's stuff on her myspace and was disappointed by the blandness
you'd better be directing that reply at timhulio, hoonbot
weekend one was better
because of me on the dancing machine. Bands schmands.
i heart lords
all the bands were very good
some people said this was the best gig we've ever put on
mr tmn you should be pleased to hear that!
actually
it's a russian dwarf or chinese dwarf hamster
i used to have some, they are very bitey but oh so cute
it's supposed to be 10.45
but more likely 11
sonic youth? never 'eard of 'em
only joking.
sonic was a wuss, myself i preferred the mildly evil pink porcupine-y thing whose name i temporarily forget, and tails, i really liked tails.
oh yes, and we don't always close at 2. we can go on till 4 if there's enough people drinking and dancing and at least one of us is still awake enough to play records (this is not usually andy)
i heart VAS
and had to fight back a tear on at least one occasion. how sad am i?
gosh, i'm touched
(at least that's what people usually say about me)
thanks mike, the cheque is in the post.
thanks theo, but i only had one cheque left, sorry.
please can everyone come on may 19th as we have had to mortgage the cat to pay for the bands and i don't know what will happen if the bank forecloses on
a cat.
i may have been a little tipsy on friday so apologies to anyone i stood on/fell over/ignored/ranted at... and especially to jamesdsp for consistently forgetting to bring the cd we've been promising him for 3 months.
