cool

nice article.
does anyone know who's supporting on the forthcoming tour?

Who is the answer?

Coventry/Warwick please!

at warwick uni.......

the little ones are supporting according to the flyers ive seen. need to get me some tickets...

oooooooh yeah!

new raddums! wooooooo

why the fuck...

is it ridiculous? if it were posted anywhere else but DiS, then you certainly wouldnt be saying that. it's simply a little story about how one guy statred his own record label and his experiences along the way - so what if he also founded this site. it's not like there's a great difference between this article and the Fierce Panda one, so you shouldn't call it ridiculous. shut up.

in the email from their mailing list...

it said the manchester venue was the ritz, and not the university. just for info.

the original version of this is taken from....

his debut solo album which came out last year (or was it early 2006?) in various places around the world but never got a UK release, it's called 'These beautiful ghosts' and has Goldrush as his backing band. It's a pretty good album on the whole, and i'd wager it could be got on amazon for a few shiny pennies....

i also got the album last week! :(

boooooooo!

i probably cant go this year! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

ohmigod!

i really, really, really want tickets for wolverhampton! never seen the 'head. am cancelling any plans for friday nite so i can be on the phones and web sat morning nice and early. hope the w.a.s.t.e site works before that though. COME ON!

roddy's voice....

has obviously developed over the years, in that he can actually sing now, as opposed to the early stuff, so i for one will welcome a solo folk record. having seen idlewild do a live acoustic show a while ago which was jaw droppingly mint, i will eagerly anticipate this.....

is MC Lars

not on Truck Records any more then?

mmmmmmmm.......

this is a lovely album!

just got it today.....

and 1st impressions are fairly 'meh'. the 1st half seems fine, love track 3 (heart in a cage - think its the new single) but track 11 (15 minutes) sounds like the pogues!

that should've said last line

up there

i believe he was referring to...

......the last of Mr Diver's article.
fleeing new york are still ace though, no matter where they come from! 'here i stand' by them could also be a standout southampton track from 2005. lovely little acoustic number, which is not at all like them.

Fleeing New York - Fleeing New York: "We could have a rock opera if we're not too careful."

great interview. great band. hope they get to play V. does anyone know if they get to play at stafford as well as essex? rather hoping they do win and do get to, cos i'll be at stafford.

Re: Black Nielson split

i was at that gig too and thought the new material sounded quite good. It seemed more upbeat than the old material which i always found a bit disappointing on record.

Re: Fleeing New York

yeah i'd definitely advise you to see them again. They fcking ROCK! really hope they win this comp to play at V fest seeing as im going - it'll brighten up the festival.

Ravonettes have album pending. They tour to support it. Rejoicing follows

also, im not their biggest fan but im fairly sure they've already released 2 albums and this will be their 3rd...........

Patrick Wolf begins UK tour

and he's playing at truck too which will be nice

Antony And The Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now

its the emotions that really get me on this album and make it an incredibly pleasurable but difficult listen in my opinion. i heard the single and knew it had rufus on it, who i love, so i got it when it came out and whilst i certainly havent had it on repeat since then (dont think i could take that, and also other stuff has come out!), i have played it very regularly and it gets better and better. one of the records of the year so far and one of the most distinctive voices ive heard in years.

Get Cape Wear Cape Fly - Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly EP

just got this today, a mere £2 from the vinyl exchange. gotta agree with everyone and the review and say it's really, really good. his voice reminds me of someone, but i cant put my finger on it. anyone any ideas?

Re: Ryan Adams - Cold Roses

yeah ive got to agree that it's quickly ranking up there with his best work. the vocals are really doing it for me - ive read a couple of reviews saying his voice is not that good and cracks in places but i think it sounds really soulful. i cant get 'sweet illusions' out of my head.

its definitely gotta be up there for me in the best albums of the year so far - whether it will overtake bright eyes "i'm wide awake....." which is deffo my favourite up to this point remains to be seen......

Re: Patti Smith Meltdown: Yoko, Flea, Cat Power, Orton, O'Connor, Shields, Bragg...

ive got to admit his voice can be unsettling when im in certain moods but in general i love it and the album as whole. any know what his 1st albumm is like?

Re: Idlewild - WARNINGS: “We’ve been listening to Elto

you definitely need to give it repeated listenings - it is a real grower. saw them in manchester and the live show is still fantastic - great mix of jumping around oldies and more melodic newbies - with one shitty 10 minute noodle in the middle which gave me a chance to have a leak!

Up, Up And Away: New single and tour for Fleeing New York

im really liking the mini album (AOK), in particular Scandinavia which is an immense tune. really looking forward to checking them out in manchester - have heard good live reviews and liked what i heard of the new material when they did a radio 1 session for huw stephens. the interplay between the male and female vocals do it for me every time.

The Jericho is Back!

that's really good. heard a lot of good things about the old venue. was too young/not into music enough when it was open - will be good to check a gig or 2 out there. any news on gigs/website? i'll have to get on google right now......

Re: See HAL. See HAL run. See HAL go on tour forever....

i'd have to agree with that. saw hal & the magic no.s last week and whilst the magic no.s were OK, i thought Hal were superb. their harmonies are top notch.
O

Idlewild

this was such a beautiful gig, so different to usual. whilst i missed the heavier numbers (particularly of 100 broken windows which i love, roseability, idea track etc.), the new songs sounded great, especially 'el capitan'. and just how good was 'when i argue...'

Re: Fleeing New York - AOK

i bought it too thanks to the review and ive gotta say its fookin cool. 'scandinavia' is currently distracting me from working a hell of a lot.
