Not so much now,
But at the time my favourite song was Chef's Chocolate Salty Balls. I don't even think I understoof it at the time.
Hmm.
I’m going to go for an obvious one and a more controversial one.
Obvious: Mentioned about 6/7 times, but Vampire weekend, mostly in the rhythm section of their tracks.
Less obvious/more tenuous: Hans Zimmer in both his Power of One and Lion King soundtracks. I know that they were both obviously inspired by trips to Africa and the settings of their films, but I can’t help but believe that the scores of both films would not have happened without Graceland.
Fatboy Slim was my immediate concern
Then the Kooks (bleurgh!)and Blood Red Shoes
I've since learnt that Nick Cave lives there. How odd!
I don't necessarily think this is a solve all response
But how about a voting form so that people who have also heard the album can give it a score?
So that you get the official DIS score, then a sort of Dis User score (that could easily go into the 7.6, 8.4's of the world).
Bodiam is a classic.
I did a whole module on castles in my degree, and Bodiam featured incredibly heavily in it.
Basically, it was as much use as a chocolate teapot!
I don't know if it counts....
But my favourite store used to be Selectadisc in Nottingham- Serious RIP for that place.
I guess my next favourite is Anarchy records in Nottingham. Grim and Dingy as hell, but feels like the sort of place where you can find a gem. Even if you don't!
Tender Prey
Just a hunch mind...
"Us and Persia" "Manchester Guardian"
Christ this makes me sad.
It's basically why a large amount of musicians should not be asked about anything outside of music
