Wikipedia says

You are ALL diminutive men that ride donkeys for a living but this doesn't change the fact that this is probably the best overall EES album so far.

"Squeeze My Liver" indeed...

Get Fucked Stud

is the highlight quite frankly - anyone got a match should be the 'festival single', and I like most of the other tracks too.

Biffy albums are always great, but I do seem to end up playing all their songs on shuffle so that I get a mix of all the Eras at the same time.

Rules...

The CIN chart people cocked everything up years ago when (bowing to the boy-band era) they shortened CD singles. You see they had to buy the rights for each track which made singles loose money when they gave them to record shops for free like the early take that & spice girls stuff.

Also they limited the length of the CD, and made it so remix CDs could have 6 tracks. And if your CD had too much free stuff they docked your sales (one dance CD had too many folds in the cardboard CD case so lost all sales of that disc...).

This modern change is no suprprise, the money is in the downloads for the big 4 too. If you click on buy album it goes for the 'download album' chart, if you buy all the individual tracks it goes for the 'download single' chart. Fuck knows what happens if you try to pay for each track on your CD single in HMV individually - presumably it only counts for the A-side.

Heres to an organised campaign to get odd stuff to the top 40/75 in a few weeks when the chart calms down again. 'Bike' by Pink Floyd/Sid Barrett is my choice for the top.

V is the only festival...

where I have seen ladies urinating against the fences in the crowd by the 2nd stage because the queues for the loos are too long.

Luckily I was in for free that year (Bar, Pixies, Bar).

goodbye to artwank

saw live 3 times - overran 3 times - made a big show about how they must be allowed to continue 3 times - crowd largely not interested 3 times.

I must applaude them though - I was genuinely surprised they made a 2nd album, and some of there instrumental parts were not too shabby. Back to the politics degrees then eh lads...

oohh adendum!

YOu can still get Reading Tickets wit coach travel - hammer that refresh button!

Looks Like It's SOld Out At Reading

45 mins at my reckoning

Just Got 2 Leeds from here

http://www.seetickets.com/see/leedsreading.asp

yup - as per usual

All servers appear down on the million & one possible links.

It's funny how no-one can organise the sale of 200,000 tickets at the same time to people who are not touts.

e-bay will be hot tonight...

yes but

19 is the highest song on the album and there is now a 15 part 2 (which may or may not be after 15 on the album...)

This is what happens

when a band has no lyrics. They have to moan and express themselves elsewhere.

Are Mogwai any good now? I stopped listening to them around the ex-cowboy era when I discovered that Constellation Records did everything they did much, much better...

YUp

indeedey YAY

What with Patrick Duff from Strangelove touring this year too and Amityville being Geneva in disguise this could be great.

Wonder if any other big 90's bands are reforming this year ;)

Actually...

I own quite a lot of Fugazi stuff and I'll probably buy the P!ATD album, but then I've got to the point in my life where I listen to what the hell I like and don't care about other people's tastes.

P!ATD will be this year's The Killers. Fall Out Boy are just dull.

It should be noted that they are much less exciting live than they should be though - but then they are just American pop stars.

well they are totally ace but

SEVEN is so much better than TWELVE. :p

Ah!

I'd forgotten about this.

I'll have to hunt out a copy. No actual Birmingham shops on the list, but HMV + online will make it easy anyway.

Here's to many more of these things, and a big thank you for ALL the music must go to Mr. Ferris. :)

Ha

Looks like nobody wanted to play with the Bravery then...

I'd see Giant Drag, ¡F,R!, Elbow and most of the bands whose names I don't recognise if it was closer, but I can just go to their actual tours instead.

Nothing as good as the one a few years back with Junior Senior, IMA Robot., My Morning Jacket and Keane on it though...

Hmm...

Well the JCB song is a re-release anyway - it got to a lofty 160 in the charts last time in June.

The video (madebythesameblokeasRadioheadsCreeep) has been going viral around the internet since April and makes the song better due to it's transformers and A-Team references.

www.jcbsong.co.uk (seems to be down at the moment)

I would have seen the band play Glasto but I was working one of the gates. Probably got rained off anyway...

And DiS - ANYONE is better than Westlife's songjacking. I swear they just get copies of other peoples songs, then sing extra vocals over the top and sell them to the Thick People who actually vote for reality TV shows. Diggers at No1 is much more interesting (even if the lyrics are mostly cringeworthy).

And to think...

I believe I was there when Raz had his 'Biffy clyro - they're not shit' epiphany (SP?) at Truck!

I'd be flashing my Indie credentials a lot more if I actually had the duke's album, but as I have all 18 ¡Forward, Russia! tracks I really don't care.

Good review though, Hurrah!

DiS is Five: More gigs, more fun, new logo!

http://www.simbioticstore.com/lostdog/?s=home&m=&c=viewitem&item_id=2146

Should have been the logo. Type sick anchors into googel and look at the teatowel int he first link. It's an Arab Strap off shoot.

As long as the whole site isn't pink (it's a bit too obvious to allow work surfing) I really couldn't give a kitten what the new site looks like.

Gay For Johnny Depp - Blood: The Natural Lubricant

You had me interested until you said "Dillinger brilliance" and now I know how bad they probably are.

Kids love the comedy noise-rock these days though.

Re: iForward, Headline Tour!

The Irish dates in Dec are, not the others - my mistake

http://www.forwardrussia.com/gigs.htm

iForward, Headline Tour!

Dec dates are supporting Biffy Clyro

Trachtenburg Family On Tour!

Yeah but the Birmingham date on the Sunday the 9th Oct isn't on the list either so go check with the bands site.

Re: Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill Acousti

I guess it is a very Starbucks album...

And I seem to remember you being in my audioscrobbler neighbours list some time back before they changed it all!

Shocking! Electric Eels join The BHG!

ROCKANDROLLKILLSTHEBLOOOOOOS!!!

Seriously - the only people who don't like EES are those that haven't seen them live. THis should be a series of fun nights.

Re: The trials and tribulations of Timberlake...

Probably not - just those that buy for the 'celeb' stories that they then treat as gospel.

It'd be like believing PopBitch...

Oh and Justin Timberlake is a wanker.

Re: Pop justice! McFly to claim top spot

Yes but if the single sells out on Monday it can't do much better than the midweeks can it...

Pop justice! McFly to claim top spot

...and iFR! got to 74.

Was the single deliberately limited to really small numbers in a Bloc Party esque attempt to seem smaller & less popular than they are? And then people moan about the reissues...

There were no CDs left in my local indy on the Monday evening so I had to settle for the vinyl.

We like trucking and we like to truck. Truck Festi

ROBOCHRIST. ROBOCHRIST WAS FANTASTIC. AGAIN.

Next year put him on the main stage, although headlining the theatre tent was great too.

Kudos to the catering & especially the Donught people from the Sunday Morning who battled on despite having oil problems.

iForward Russia! are future superstars - I spotted loads of people wearing the t-shirts watching RoboChrist. They turned out to be most of the band. This years Jet Plane Landing.

Trademark's new stuff is heavier and darker and will make them as popular as they should be by now.

Missed Pinny Gir :(

And Biffy Rocked as they always have done.

Patrick Duff - Luxury Problems

It's a great album, some of the quieter (more hymn like) tracks towards the end really grow on you.

Shame the review didn't mention more tracks by name as I'd love to know which tracks they skipped & loved.

'Refrigerator' is an instant Strangelovesque classic. :D

Re: Kaisers lead Mercury race

Solo projects and offshoot bands will see them around for ages even if they do split.

THe Manics were splitting after one album too...

Kaisers lead Mercury race

So - anyone know how much it costs to enter the competition?

Or how many Jazz acts apply hoping to be the one that gets the obligatory slot?

Re: Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill Acousti

And pray tell - what would be the most Ironic thing in the world?

Could it possibly be a song called Ironic listing lots and lots of situations that are never actually Ironic? The fact that people still don't get this 10 years on baffles me...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irony

And yes - the album IS a complete waste of everyones time.

Re: Electric Eel Shock - Beat Me

Hahaha.

ICANHEARTHESEXNOISE!!!

Keane to get mean

I'm pretty sure this next album will be globally massive.

And if this new material adds a bit more depth to the already great live shows then that'll be nice.

The four Urusei Yatsura albums. All superb.

The new BSP album was named almost named 'Bring Me The Head Of British Sea Power' in a competiton by a fan but was called 'Open Season' instead as the album title didn't really reflect the content.

Re: Bow to King Clunt? Singer might have royal blo

That's a bit harsh - the mans a lyrical genius!

Who else could possibly rhyme 'Beautiful' with 'Beautiful'?
I mean, that's better than Sheakspeare!

I thought he was called James Bland anyway?

Fugitives and Refugees: Exciting new club night

So is it actually in Portland, USA or did they just think the title sounded cool?

HoTS are still overrated even now that nobody rates them...

Over-Killers: more corporate Brandon

What is it about that one line that all c**ts find so appealing? Someone near our tent at Leeds last year sang it constantly for the whole weekend.

iLiKETRAiNS - BEFORETHECURTAiNSCLOSE

Damn right Leeds is looking good at the moment.

They have RoboChrist!

Misty's Big Adventure's big adventure

bOM & hIS mAGIC dRUMSTICK BETTER BE SUPPORTING ON AT LEAST ONE OF THOSE DATES.

(subtle hint)

Re: Glasto a go go - last minute news, weather and

They cancelled.
Yet had the biggest street team presesnce at the festival since 'Seize the day'...

I got a free iTunes song from them AND Brian Wilson. Woo!

Re: Gonna stay young forever? The Subways reckon s

I watched that.

I was excited when I saw they were playing as they were OK at Glasto last year. Thing is they haven't got better, where as they looked nervous but with potential - they now just come over as overconfident with no hope.

Drummers quite good though. And Weezer were cocking ace.

Re: Reasons to love Coldplay #1: Martin attacks EM

Where they diserve?

Re: Darkness' bass man quits

Hooray for Wig Wam - They were robbed!!!

Re: Belle And Sebastian - Push Barman To Open Old

I'll get it eventually - but as with all back catalogue it'll be in a sale for 5.99

Dog... was the first B&S thing I bought so that might be why I quite like that & the other EPs.

Belle And Sebastian - Push Barman To Open Old Woun

I have most of these EPs (some on 12") but Legal Man was the reason I went off Belle & Sebastian. The stuff before it was great (some of us 'love' Dog on wheels) and the new stuff is great (I got back into them recently after festivals), it's just theres a few tracks that made me think they'd lost the plot for a bit.

I've never even heard Wash Your Hands Child, You Smell Quite Unpleasant...

Re: A quick word about Truck Festival...

Punkles are doubtful - I know the guy responsible for them being invited to play and I don't belioeve that he is going this year.

Re: NME editor wins an award?!

Now I have the internet for release schedules and gig listings the paper mags are obsolete. Even artists free tracks on their sites have replaced cover CDs as a best way to try stuff out.

Nurse! The bears! 'Suit do May tour!

I wouldn't worry - some bands seem to be alergic to the Midlands too.

Saves me a bit of time and cash though so I can't complain too much.
