Phew!

Just checked for Frá Gleymdu Vori by Sprengjuhöllin but iTunes (un)reliably tells me it's a 2008 release.

My faith in you is restored!

I thought this too

The strongest stage is the John Peel on a Sunday. Friday is a non-starter.

I ducked in

It's like Bastongne in there. LOL @ all the little kids defending Haduekneadnsdfn!!

My god that's some ugly cover art

I've got this ready to download*

*legally!

I was hoping for the appearance of Electrelane

That is the one album which grabbed me by the testicles this year.

O, apart from Mirrored, Kala and Person Pitch of course.

Ooo

I fancied Boxer to make the top 10 of everyone end-of-year list. I can't wait to see who edged them out now.

Why?

Pink is one of those records that I have been wanting to get for a while, but never got around to it. I am missing out :o(

Ox Un

We have to get certain viewpoints in the public domain. Dangerous propaganda when undetected has time to ferment and develop. I shouldn't wish Islamaphobia be confined underground whispering, which it appears it is not.

The Oxford Union were right to invite these individuals to their soirée. We have to get these viewpoints out in the open; it makes it much easier to disseminates them, especially when, which I fear, certain section of the demographic find them appealing.

Sad news indeed

boo

That's a little hyperbolic

All Geoff has done is spilt some shit on a page.

I am really looking forward to this

I've also noticed the multitude of the products/shows their music has been used to promote. I don't find it nauseous, but simply a useful way to point out the group to friends and family who are watching at the same time.

I am hoping the follow-up carries the same energy and diversity as the original. I have a piece of advice though: don't include any more air raid siren interludes!

I want this :'(

But they have not provided me with a legal way to get the tracks - Grrr!

Chomp

A sound bite is bite-sized de facto :o)

Echoeing others

I liked the business plan they had going on. It was the simple and distinguishable differences to HMV/Virgin that made the stores worthwhile, and I shall miss shopping in them.

From an article in The Times today it looks like there would be a period of uncertainty ahead. Indications were that the chain were in talks with their bank and were fighting against administration, it's unfortunate that this story did not have a happy ending.

I feel sorry for the staff as they are unlikely to see the money they earned this month.

I have

Had my eye on this for a while. It's getting coverage from the NME even. Whilst worrying, has not deterred me.

I just don't get it

The music, look, and mood of the band just rubs me the wrong way. I don't think you should put so much effort in developing the aesthetics of your band without concentrating on the music first.

Saying that, they could all be wearing jeans and a t-shirt and I would still switch them off. I think the little one has escaped from school.

O well

Life goes on.

Still not on par with the Kaisers

They re-released 'I predict a Riot' three times.

If only there were a way

This is pretty funny as jokey articles come, but it would be nice to have a method of pitching these teams of musical legends against one another. Sort of celebrity death match but without the annoying bimbos.

Inconsistent?

I have the 'We Used to Vacation' EP and this review has put me off the album. It seems like it suffers from the same inconsistency which plagues the EP, or maybe I am being a little harsh?

I hope someone can convince me otherwise, because I want this band to work for me.

This amazed me too

Now I admit that I have only listened to the singles but never in a million years would I have bet money on seeing a 'pink 10' at the bottom of the article.

I think the singles were OK, just that. His voice begins to grate at times and there's an air of juvenile about the guy, which is not something I subscribe to. I hope, like another poster before me mentioned, I am not becoming too old.

I've nothing against the review though, if you're going to hand a perfect mark to the guy then fair enough.

The Guardian

Prints a handy little matrix every Monday. It gives the scores that the broadsheets newspapers give various plays, albums, films etc. Mika featured in today's edition and here is how the scoring went:

Guardian: 1
Observer: 3
Times: 8
Sunday Times: 6
Telegraph: N/A
Sunday Telegraph: N/A
Independent: 3
Sunday Independent: 10 (!)

So obviously there are huge disparities and no single consensus on this guy. Personally I find his music a little drab.

I agree

It is a grower. I have listened to it once so far. What grabbed my attention is the way Jarvis has dealt with domestic issues, that no other artist has tackled, in a head-on fashion. 'Disney' and 'Children' are two important examples of this.

I am pleased that he is doing something he wants to, it shows.
