yup - sure is

but seriously - this album is immense - i don't think i've heard any vocalist (bar maybe Maynard Keenan) sing so perfectly as Rob Flynn does here - those melodies are astounding - and the riffs, the structures, the solo's - it's just the most perfectly formed METAL album since, well, Lataralus, really...
'Clenching..' should be the new 'Puppets'

#shudders#

now there's a particularly horrific image!
on the whole this is freaking great news as it means the whole myspace generation (IE anyone with a laptop) are just going to clench that little harder on the knackers of the industry - there are however a few grey areas where it'll get interesting with the rules - like live bootlegs? - surely this legitimises the theft of music?

i'm probably talking absolute bollocks (again), but that's just how i read it.............

spot on as ever, mr Raz

Initlally i really wasn't sure about this one (just for the record, i loved 'End Of Heartache'), but it's rapidly grown on me - the title track is just immense beyond immense, but after that, i just get the feeling that they might be taking their foot off the gas a bit - don't get me wrong, it's an amazing album, and i like how they've developed their sound to somethign a lot dirgier and heavier (reminded me a bit of Soundgarden at their most Sabbath-y) but maybe there's just that little something missing that can take it to the next level.

anythibng'd be better than the last album

this sounds damn fine -the 'Tones are due another stonking album - if it's even a third as good as White Pony i'll be a happy bunny indeedy
(and using the 'Elite' filters again - freaking amazing!)

couldn't agree more

sure, 'left' is a bit of a grower (read not as masterful, but getting there), but the one and only time i saw them at the Joiners in Soton, they were immense beyond words - 'tis a sad day indeed

i love slayer

and i don't give a monkey's who disagrees - as someone on some other message board once said 'It's not that they're satanists, they represent an alternative to what is determined to be 'acceptable' by the powers that be'

'God' was a hell of an album ('Discaiple' is one of my all time fave tunes, like, ever), but this raises the bar just that bit higher - and it's all down to Lombardo - he just pulls them into the tightest, meanest mutherfudders on the planet

(and on the subject of Belle And Sebastian fans at Slipknot gigs, i di once see exactly that - one of the most random things i've ever seen

Million Dead to split after September tour

fuck. gonna have to go out of my way to make the joiners gig.

Within Temptation - The Silent Force

i'm probably going to get a lynching (hey, why change the habit of a lifetime?), but i really quite like this lot- her voice kinda has that childlike charm thingy that gets the little hairs on the back of my neck doing the samba

maybe not the finished article, but theres definitely signs the could be huge(r)

completely agree with the bit about the riffs being a bit naff, though

Pumpkins Reborn

i see what you're saying Rain, but i'm still getting that funny tingling sensation on the back of my neck - yah!!!

Zombina and the Skeletones - Mondo Zombina EP

i didn't think i could love Zombina anymore after the first album - this proves me badly wrong - they're one of the best kept secrets on this fair isle

Avril and Deryck, sitting in a tree...

*adds to the list of reasons to hate Sum 41*

Re: Glasto a go go - last minute news, weather and

look, i'll try and be easy on you - THEY'RE SHITE!! go out and get some Clash, then you'll understand....

Re: Glasto a go go - last minute news, weather and

with concrete boots?

please?

Pretty please?

Re: When is TOOL due?

With Tool, i've learnt to wait- it's normally worth it - see the mind-bendingly awesome last album - i guess it's on a par with opening your christmas presents early - it spoils the fun

Re: Supergrass on Road to Rouen...

yup - their set at Glasto last year was probably one of the best over the whhole weekend - it was impressive how many people endured THAT rain to see them

Avenged Sevenfold - City Of Evil

this album is totally poo- heard it a few weeks back and couldn't stop laughing at how SHITE it is

and am i the only one to think that Jem's not all that bad (and the music's Ok to, i s'pose)

cue lynching

Re: Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth

just listened to it again, and yes, you are very right mister.

Re: Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth

probably- it's the one that starts with a jangly intro and then sprays off in about 20 different directions

Funeral For A Friend headline post-wha'eva tour in November

could.not.agree.more.

Wednesday nights at Rhino's - that's where it's normally at (and by 'it', i mean 'me')

Re: Funeral For A Friend headline post-wha'eva tour in

ummm, the dates are at the top, buddy.

Killswitch will easily slay FFAF (having seen both bands on separate occassions) - their gig at the Astoria back in January left me bloody, bruised and with a fooking great big smile on my face - never have i partied so hearty.

Oh, and Chimaira did a very similar thing when i saw them at the Wedge - was so sore afterwards that for a few days after the fact, i could have sworn i had ruputred something - i could barely move!

good luck Emo minnions!

you'll need it!

Re: More music, less crime - the Lords get logical

*scribbles out point B while still trying to look in control*

More music, less crime - the Lords get logical

a few points-

1)being a local (i was born in Bath, and live just over the border in Frome- i'm only studying in Southampton), i can confirm that Bath is pretty mediocre in terms of size

2) the reason that so little crime is committed at glasto is because of one of two reasons
a) people are so pissed/stoned/both that they can barely move, let alone think about raiding tents
b)why the hell would anyone pay 130 quid just to cause havoc?

Re: Foo Fighters - In Your Honour

has no-one else picked up on the fact that 'the last song' is essentially a remix of 'Breakout'?

and also, on the acoustic front - who the hell would ahve thought the Foos and Nora Jones would ever work? (it does, rather acely) - futhermore, the track that Taylor sings is probably one of the best tunes on the album (along with the title track)

on the whole, decidedly meh!

Re: Kinesis - You Are Being Lied To

Of course this is all your own opinion, but don't you think that Independiente did their fair share in the demise of Kinesis? didn't they just throw the band in at the deep-end without a rubber ring and expect them to tread water? If MBA were ever offered such a contract, would you tell them to sod off?

(This isn't a dig, i'm just curious)

Ross named most important radio personality

Woss's TV show is fecking great- the last one with Motley Crue was just brilliant.
Moyles used to be really funny, but now he's slowly developing into Johnny Vegas (actually, who's ever seen those two in the same room? mmmm..... #strokes chin in attempt to look pondersome#)

A Month in Records: May 2005

People, People, Harmony No Harmony!!!
Muchos excelente!

Re: - Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith

Finally been to see it tonight, and it's definitely my fave out of the first three - the opening scene took my breath away- got severely bored by all the Padame hormonal scenes (altho at least there was Natalie Portman to ogle for a bit) then got interested again with all the temple slaughtering bits - also really liked the Yoda/Palpatine scrap - yoda fight scenes are always great fun, as well as the biggie between Anakin/Obi Wan - altho how the hell the film can be classified as a 12a when there's so many scenes with awol limbs and burning bodies is besides me - i might just have an all night marathon just for the hell of it

Re: System Of A Down - Mezmerize

i really love this album after some inital doubts - mainly over Daron's singing - sure, the album's pretty much his baby, but his voice just gets a little irritating after a while

Re: The Rasmus Return

highly doubt it - i only looked at the article to see if The_Glory was going to try and defend the indefensible again, but alas, no.

Re: Kinesis - You Are Being Lied To

couldn't agree more Sean - they'll be sorely missed

Re: Team Sleep - Team Sleep

again Diver's pretty much hit the nail on the head - it's really quite an understated album - on first listen it really isn't much, but it grows on you

Re: JJ72 - She's Gone

going to see them at the Joiners and can't fecking wait! absolutely loved I To Sky, even if it did take a couple of months for it's beauty to shine through, hope the new stuff follows suit

- Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith

probably going to see it next weekend, after all the Star Wars nerds have been- they really make me worry....

Re: Million Dead - After The Rush Hour

I can see why some people would prefer Song to Ruin, in that they've tweaked their style a bit,and what with the new guitarist, did you really expect STR 2?
The tracks with the choir are just aceness.

Re: Adema - Planets

sorry, did you really listen to the album? - i thought it would be shit, but was pleasently surprised - the new singer's a lot better than that Chavez twat - Sure, it's not exactly groundbreaking, but it's decent background music

Re: Weezer - Beverly Hills

didn't the pumpkins start Siamese Dream in a strangely similar way?

Million Dead - After The Rush Hour

Serously, anyone just browsing this thread, get up, head down to your local music emporium and get this album - it's also in the dictionary under 'Perfect', 'Mutts Nutts' etc...

Re: Maximo Park - A Certain Trigger

i just don't get this lot. maybe i'm just getting old.

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

with me, Kid A has developed from a messy, directionless album, to a being of pure genius - not sure how it happened, but it did

Saying that, HTTT is a far superior album - almost on a par with OK Computer, but not quite

Looking forward to seeing how the new stuff turns out

Re: Band bitchin' - Kaisers et al hit back at Oasi

fuck you- don't start the whole 'everyone's entitled to their own opinion' debate again.

cockmuncher

Kinesis release second album and dismantle

consider the situation - you're slogging your guts out and your label is doing toss all - as a result, the money's starting to dry up - in all seriousness, what the fuck would you do different? Independiente royally took Kinesis up the arse, and for that, eternal shame will forever be over their name.

Re: Band bitchin' - Kaisers et al hit back at Oasi

i don't see the relevance of me liking Muse while thinking that Liam Gallagher is a waste of DNA. You also like The Smiths, who have to be the worst band ever, so there you go, we've got completely different tastes - why does that not qualify me to bitch about stuff?

Kinesis release second album and dismantle

if you compared them to prime-era Manics, then yes, they weren't the best, but they were very, very special when they played the smaller venues - first saw them support Hundred Reasons and wasn't overawed, but on their own in a venue you can barely swing a chav in, they owned everyone. FACT

Band bitchin' - Kaisers et al hit back at Oasis

This whole thing's got under my skin - Liam just isn't funny - in fact he's just a prick - at Glasto last year he was a miserable cunt, hiding behind his shades in his Daz white duffel coat, doing his damedest to act like an arse - mission accomplished you plank.

As for all this slagging of of younger bands, he's completely missed the point - if it wasn't for these bands keeping the public interested in british rock music, then no-one would give a flying frig for their new album.....oh, hang on.....no-one does! (bar a few screw-loose die-hards)

Kinesis release second album and dismantle

tis a terrible, terrible shame -they should have been supermegahuge - all those memories of them destroying the Joiners twice within a month are going to get promoted to a special place in my head - right next to where i keep my pin number/numerous passwords

Re: Million Dead - After The Rush Hour

the track on the new HMV playlist cd is fucking ace - (Murder and Create, i think), it's like siamese dream era pumpkins covering Fugazi - that and the SOAD album on the same day is almost drool worthy

Re: Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth

a touch harsh perhaps?

NME editor wins an award?!

I've had a gripe with NME ever since they bought out Melody Maker - that just seemed a little too much from the Microsoft school of business - If you can't compete, buy them out.
As for Mr. McNicholas, i'm sure he's a decent bloke at heart, but i just get the feeling he takes things a little too seriously - this award though was quite clearly either a fix, or some cruel joke (although, there is always the possiblity he missed the host say "and now in reverse order...")

and no, NME is not getting better of recent, our immunity is just fading. Nurse! pass the liqour!

Bossbucks! Springsteen banned in US coffee dens

this really doesn't surprise me in the slightest- the boss doesn't need some coffee chain to be successful anyway.
