I was pretty much right at the back in row U
and I loved every second.
C'mon Rick!
Can I just vote for Future Of The Left anyway?
Danan really were great.
The whole 'Swin' thing still has me chuckling.
I think the whole room cringed when that one person shouted '500 Miles'.
Other terrible things I heard shouted out at various sets: During FOTL (best band of the weekend), some knocker was shouting constantly "play the fast ones!" even after they played something fast. He then shouted "lightsabre cocksucking blues!" -idiot.
Umm that's the extent of my bad heckle annecdotes actually.
Highlights: Fred Stanley Star, Danan, FOTL, Right Hand Left Hand, Pete & The Pirates, crab-dancing at Twisted to Andrew WK, the ever-so-friendly bouncer in Dempseys, Agaskodo Teliverek, Sweet Baboo, Conan Mockasin, tea in the Rummer, and various other things.
Hopefully my body will recover in time for Swn 2009 :-)
Don't think I've ever heard Steve Baboo being called 'shy' before!
But yes, great weekend. Good toimes.
Young Marble Giants are playing Swn Festival next weekend
in a lovely theatre section of the National Museum of Wales.
trusted users?
how do you become trusted?
the Young Marble Giants show
is going to be in the National Museum of Wales, which is nice.
oh well.
i voted for Curses.
is this the same one
as what came free with Plan B the other month?
Spencer McGarry?
I hate that idiot.
WHAT? NO SKEGNESS SHOW?
NO BARNSTAPPLE SHOW?
NO RHYL SHOW?
OUTRAGE!
listened to these last night
really enjoyed it actually.
terrible name though, when i first saw the name i thought they'd be some kind of hyped london 'scene' band.
i asked Neil the other day
and he said "no Cardiff date"
appart from a massively increased media profile
and (probably) guaranteed playlist space?
Nothing.
Security
"There are just three members of ‘security staff’ on duty for the whole weekend, and no reported crimes or thefts of any nature (as we went to press)"
Hehe, that's because the one guy looked like the Terminator!
The Cardiff date
is actually at the Barfly (for some reason)
i'm a shoe-in for the knobbly knees contest
it's a bit clash-o-rama for me :-(
oh, it's fine now
probably my computer being rubbs
you need to sort the formatting out on this
looks a bit confusing (or am i being a n00b?).
I'm going
The info on the website stresses that they should have sorted out last year's problems.
Are they going to release a line-up in terms of who's playing when at any point soon? All the information released so far has been in alphabetical order. Would be nice to know who's headlining and try and work out any possible clashes.
Cardiff support is from Gindrinker :-D
and that Fighting with Wire band.
LOL
Good thing it’s been cancelled. Here’s DiS directing people towards Cornwall to a festival that was actually happening in South Wales!
yeh it's quite depressing
that Microcastles has leaked already. I assumed it must be out in a matter of weeks or something. October's aaaaaaages away!
Nice to see
The Gentle Good and Threatmantics getting some praise :-)
June 28 is a Saturday
come to Cardiff!
Cardiff!
I really like Franz Ferdinand
i'm seeing them tonight
hurrah!
I love this EP
it's great. They're spectacular live.
LOL
I think you'll find it's Cate Le Bon you perverts.
I can't wait to hear this
I'm meant to be getting a review copy to write about so i'll end up getting this on vinyl i reckons.
Mmmmmm, Sub Pop.
the london night on the 21st
is (I think) a Plan B night, and it also features Lovvers and the brilliant Gindrinker.
The Cardiff show has the also brilliant Threatmantics in support. I will be in attendance.
ah it's some limited release or something
so maybe that's why.
I've got my copy on order at my friendly neighbourhood record shop.
No Age - Eraser
isn't that out this week as well?
That Plan B night
has support from Gindrinker, and maybe Lovvers as well.
Yay Gindrinker!
nice to see them getting some attention. top stuff.
I had 2 really
Nirvana, when I was about 11, got me into rockier/punkier/metalish stuff. Then I got a bit sidetracked on nu-metal and all that. On the plus side, it also got me into the Pixies.
My 'indier' leanings came when I first heard the Strokes when Modern Age came out.
Arse
someone was trying to organise a Cardiff gig. Ah well, could be a trip to Brizzle.
there's deffo some more dates than that
they're playing Cardiff on the 21st. It even says so on the right hand column bit of DiS that's a gig guide of sorts.

You should have asked Keith to write your Thursday review
I think he somehow managed to see every band playing!
