Sounds interesting.
Might check her out when she's supporting Efterklang at the end of the month.
Matt wrote all of 'Showbiz', 'Origin of Symmetry' and 'The Resistance' according to credits.
So, technically, those are solo albums.
an enjoyable listen, although:
'Undisclosed Desires' is fucking hideous.
'Exogenesis', whilst good, is a let down in terms of thegrandiose, balls-out symphony i was expecting.
The lyrics are pretty cringeworthy at times.
i'm surprised at the stick it got.
It was one of my favourites that year. Love it.
wow....massive downgrade in venue sizes.
Recent gigs have been panned, and every time i've seen them they've been a bit rubbish, really. Wish i'd caught them on the 'Antichrist...' or 'Mechanical Animals' tours.
really?!
It's probably my favourite track on the new album.
A commendable review (though, personally, i'm throwing a number 9 at this bad boy).
and it's interesting you mention the lyrical content without subsequently being hypocritical and saying "oh, it's all indecipherable nonsense", as have many other reviews. The lyrics on this really aren't an endless labyrinth of metaphorical avenues at all, and journalists picking up on that is just a lazy cheap-shot.
But yeah, i really like this album. Have listened to it around the 35 time mark now and it's definitely been getting more interesting each time round. Which is far more than can be said for some of the super-hyped albums this year.
Good to see they've reigned in the sprawling 7,000,000 minute versions of 6 minute tracks.
Each tour has had them doing it more and more, which results in a very trying experience.
I also think Thomas Pridgen needs to fuck off with his drums. Yes, he's talented; yes,he's dexterous...but it's overblown and unnecessary, often dominating much of the track (when played live, though some parts of 'The Bedlam...' were teeter-tottering on the edge of annoying, too). Hopefully the mellower new material will have him a little more restrained in the live setting.
^ this
poorly written review.
I quite liked 'Meds', and 'Sleeping With Ghosts' is one of my favourites.
* Cryptomnesia
^ There are also two more of those where that one came from
silly me - i thought their latest single Cotopaxi was a new Sugababes single.
Don't make me laugh. It's Volta, Volta, Volta. And the new shows, regardless, will be 3 hours / 10 song affairs...it's what they do. See: Bedlam tour. SeeL Frances tour: See: Deloused tour.
Agree with the score, but disagree with it trailing towards the end.
And you failed to meantion 'Batty Boyz' which still makes me laugh out loud
...but they're not really at all, are they?
nme.com/news headline, that is
this reads like an amazon.com user review.
Not keen on the singles myself, so not hugely anticipating this here release. Methinks The Prodigy are hurtling down a steep hill on rollerskates
The Glasgow show was AMAZING, apart from
the cheap-shot, fascimile covers finishing the set (fasciimile covers of passe songs at that!)
i agree entirely with 'The Crying Light' and 'Aeon'
decent review and a correct score :)
their songs on myface are excellent;
in places it reminds me of the ambient meanderings on Deloused in the Comatorium. Tis pretty sweet.
Omar has these albums all already written and recorded.
5 of them were done during his residence in Amsterdam (A Manual Dexterity through The Apocalypse Inside of an Orange), and the rest is stuff that's already done. All in all, there are 17, though i'm not sure if this includes the Jeremy Ward or Lydia Lunch works. So expect a few more.
Se Dice Bisonte No Bufalo is Omar's solo best, but i'm looking forward to this one. Absense Makes The Heart Grow Fungus and Calibracion were both non-events
^ i'll bet you're one of those people who, in school/uni/college (delete as applicable)
would always raise your hand to correct the teacher/lecturer for errors written on the board that made no difference to semantics whatsoever.
Lion In A Coma is amazing.
The fault lies in No More Runnin'. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
for me this album is pretty damn close to 10/10;
nice to see it getting a bit of recognition. Can't believe the other shite that beat this into the top 50
