Yep

You've hit the nail on the head. The production really lets it down. Live they produce a wall of noise that surrounds you and engulfs you, but the album really undersells the tunes. I like it, but they will always be better live.

Pretty sure

my indie-folk band supported these guys once at Unit 22 in Southampton. What a wierd line-up that was.

Amazing

So can we stop calling him a musician now?

He'll be even more broke soon

Once he starts playing gigs in smoke-free venues. He'll be fined everywhere he goes.

I like Ride the Lightning

marginally more than I like Master of Puppets

Pete...

My poem;

'Pete
On the street
Howling bollocks
What a treat
No time to eat
Or brush his teeth
He's too important
Because he's Pete'

I wrote that in blood originally on my last trip to 'Albion'. Hopefully one day I'll meet Pete and he'll spit on me or attack me in a drug-fuelled rage. Fingers crossed eh?

Haha

That made me laugh.

Wow

You're pretty rude. In response to your comments, yes it is a surprise that they're playing these size venues, because they've only been around for a few months and they've only just released their album. Oh, and they're shit. But that's just my opinion I suppose.

They will disappear, because they are a fad and fads always fizzle out. The only bands that survive fads are the ones with the talent, and I have seen nothing in The Twang that isn't being done 100 times better by others already. If I continue to insist this I am a bellend? Sounds like the petulant ramblings of someone who knows they're wrong to me.

And as for Arcade Fire playing the big stadiums, I don't think anyone who reads these forums likes that idea, but I suppose it means that their audience has grown. They have become bigger because of their musical prowess, which is far more than I can say for that whingey Brit-pop nonsense.

I agree

I 'lolled' when I first saw it, and every other time I've seen it since.

It's reminiscent of the album covers Pop Idol rejects have, quickly knocked up by people at the record company to try and appeal to the market. An 'urban fox' in a parka. It'll sell sell sell!

Grumble

This means that they'll probably still be around at the end of the year. How disappointing. Are DiS going to do a review of the album? I need a laugh.

Hmmm

After Tuesday's performance against Cardiff I'd say Arctic Monkeys.

Gonzo

I knew before I even looked at your profile that you'd be a Hunter S Thompson fan. Why else would you use the word bozo?

He was shit

Apparently

Cry...

This has been a bit of a tradition for me and my mates over the past few years. Granted, last year I only caught about 5 bands but the whole weekend was just great fun.

However this year it seems far too risky. I'd like to see Muse again, and perhaps Amy Winehouse, but I couldn't pay for a ticket knowing that some of the dosh is going to the rest of those 'bands'.

Fare the well Isle of Wight Festival, I knew you well.

About time

Their first album was great but everything since has been pretty dire. Battle of LA was, in my opinion, as good if not better than the self-titled Rage album, so maybe they can do some even better stuff now they've had a break from it.

So

Where will these tickets be available from?

That's funny...

...I thought it was horrific.

Yeah!

"Thankfully, they may be running out of steam."

Amen to that! Roll on the next 1 album money-maker.

But where...

...will you put your stickers? If anywhere?

IranDIS

I reckon his solo stuff would be a lot like 'Magic Pie' etc., less of the loud rockie stuff. The lyrics will be awful I reckon.

mmmhmmm

I agree with your point about Alive or Just Breathing, I doubt they'll ever better it. Lamb of God did the same with As the Palaces Burn; both victims of their own excellent album.

Nice review

I may have to buy this one. I wasn't impressed by the last one at all, but seeing as though you had the same attitude to that one I reckon there's a chance I might like this as much as you do.

Just a chance, mind.

Dont' forget

X-Ray

so

where can I buy this? There's nothing on the box records site or his myspace.

LOG

I love 'em. As the Palaces Burn is one the greatest metal albums ever made. Chris Adler is the man, also.

Sorry gringo

Didn't see you there

New CD pointless?

Calling kettle black perhaps?

Well done chaps

...and chap-esses

Why?

Why is postage for seating tickets £2 and postage for standing tickets £4.80?! Are they almost double the weight or what?

This is Pompey tickets off seetickets btw.

mad for it

"which blatantly suggests that Stop The Clocks may just be the start of Oasis's journey aboard the compilation gravy train."

Write first three album, fall back on b sides, muddle through next few albums, release compilations, get old in mansion.

Lovely stuff. Can't give it to anyone for christmas though, by the look of the front cover they're going to thin I made it myself.

Hang on, that might be a good idea.

hmmm

I liked a lot of the first album, mainly for the vocal harmonies and nice little acoustic rambligs. However I have heard that new Pick of Destiny song and it just plain stinks. I think Jack Black now fully believes his own hype, and intends to hype it up even more.

In all honesty I got Southampton and Portsmouth Guildhalls confused. I hoped nobody would notice. Thanks for the heads up chimp face. Refer to my last response to the shave comment.

Portsmouth!

Awesome! Shame it's the Guildhall though.

rofllalbwh Jay-Z

Haha! Gotta love people like that.

"FROM A BUSINESS SENSE, HE'S A DAMN MODUL!"

Apparently this makes his music good. Oh and if he's such a mogul why didn't he get the proper permission before using sampled for 'Justify My Thug' (snigger)? I'm so sick of hearing that rappers worked from the ground up too. Again, this doesn't make his music good.

I hate D/Ls

"The survey also revealed that eighty-five per cent of under 24s think downloading will cut pollution, as no packaging needs to be manufactured to house the records in question and transportation of stock isn't a problem. Plus, the immediate nature of downloads is a massive factor of appeal: why pop to the shop, on a bus or train, when you can sit at home in your pants and still buy the latest Keane record?"

I read in the Times a little while ago that downloads actually consume more energy to produce than CDs, mainly do to the amount of time the average downloader leaves their computer on, and also the fact that many of them will burn the music onto a physical CD anyway. As for people being able to get music without leaving their house, if you want to do that you can look forward to an appearance on Jerry Springer or Trisha in the future. What next? Automated chairs that feed you, crap for you and eat for you? Don't forget that downloads are also killing the concept of album art. Isn't it nice when a CD has special paper on the inlay? Or a cleverly folded insert?

I agree with Damian about growers too. If I had the choice when I was 15 I would have only listened to Paranoid Android on OK Computer, then where would I be?

A sad day

One of my fave ever bands lost their outstanding member (in my opinion), and the replacement does not fill his boots. Saw "Axe" play at Portsmouth Pyramids and he simply isn't up to Lopez' skill level (made parts simpler than on the record, didn't sound as smooth). This is the problem with setting yourself such high standards, you inevitably achieve something lesser on future instances.

10?!

Are you serious? You're saying this album is one of the best ever metal albums? By christ it isn't even as good as the first 2 Haunted albums let alone anything else! Yes they're technically good, but the creativity in the songs went after Made Me Do It was written. This album marked a change in The Haunted; from metal pioneers to same old same old nails in the coffin of hardcore thrash metal.

Seriously people, ignore this score. If you want some Haunted magic get the self-titled album or the slightly more 'catchy' Made Me Do It.

It's stupid

Even if you happen to hate a band there's no reason to ruin it for the people who do like them by causing them to cut their set short. It doesn't surprise me that it happened at a RHCP show though, as most RHCP fans I know aren't aware of any music outside the top 40.

They've already done a best of

It's called Definately Maybe
