good point

Ok, I get you Rich

Bad review

Why write a review for a band on a genre you don't like? Biased from the start and massively exagerrated - it's not 2/10. It's no progression from the first two albums - the same tricks are used. Two outstanding tracks - opening track and Saint Veronica. 6/10 overall.

good

article

if only

dis could follow these points.

Fantastic comeback.

All to easy to slate Luke's music and therefore all the more wonderful to have the privilege of not being so narrow-minded and superficial, as the majority of this pretentious website is, and to love the music for it's great, catchy tunes with great orchestrations and clever irony which everyone on this website is too up their own arse to see.

what

nooooooooooo. But expected. Was only a matter of time

Tim and Sam's Tim and the Sam Band with Tim and Sam vs The Futureheads

That's a better round :)

We're playing at The Arc on Friday at 7:15pm

So to like his music I think is crucial to your open-minded, music-loving part of your personality. And everyone I've met who loves Luke's music has that open mind.

Basically, you know you have a healthy, open-minded music taste which ignores peer pressure and superficiality if you can love his music. Go to one of his gigs and you will get that look of agreement from people in the room.

It's a challenge, but the results are well worth it

after reading this review again..

I enjoyed it,and I think it's not as bad as it sounds. He accepts his talent and in a very crude tone is encouraging Luke to think more forwardly. Anyway, I think this record would have been so much more successful if it was actually produced well. I can't take the awful balance and the snare drum gives me a headache. And the whole record sounds really tinny. Sort all this out on the next album and hopefully for the single and he'll be on his way. For a style which is so easy to hate or conversely, hard to like (at first) - presentation and delivery of the music is essential. Failing this, there really will be no hope.

P.s. I really wanted to hate Luke's music too. When I first heard it I thought it was so boring and unoriginal and thought it was the kind of music that wasn't going to get me any fit girls, so I slammed it. But after more listens (obligatory - after going on tour with him) I got to love it. I don't know whether this makes a good or bad record. I'd ultimately say good, but for the modern consumer, this is bad. Scene before music I'm afraid these days

I thought that too

That he reminds me of Sam Isaac

Zavvi arn't cheaper

HMV online is so much cheaper than zavvi - online or instore. Only once or twice has zavvi been cheaper. And if you have a hmv student card you can use it online, including on sales, meaning I got 'wincing the night away' for £3.40. beat that Crappi

just realised

This is the reviewer, DANIEL ROSS who reviewed Paul Marshall's album, one of the shittest and most incorrect reviews on DrownedinSound. Ignore this review and listen to Luke Leighfield's music and make a judgement yourself. But dont listen to one word of this pointless, personal attack. Man up daniel and dont be so fucking immature. Shit reviews like this and paul marshall's is what is taking me and so many other people away from this site which was once good and is now just an excuse to slate something to pointless heights.

hmmm

I don't disagree with reviews which give their opinion on if an artist really shouldn't bother trying for various reasons. I think making your point a bit too much, showing you can make it in so many different words and sentences is unecessary. Unless you want to work for the NME

perfect jamie and everyone else. klaxons is the perfect example of how the radio is infected with just about 100% true statement of SHIT. dont these bands realise they are causing their inevitable doom for themselves? They will not get past 1 album, 2 if they are extremely lucky, then they will get dropped from their labels, have to work in morrissons, whilst their dreams are smashed with debts to pay. Stop for your own sakes as well as ours and for once, please just for fucking once, allow decent music to be aired, promoted and educated to what is now a generation of listeners with such low standards of what a good song is. and the nme, my god the fucking nme, you should be ashamed of yourselves, all you writers who write not articles but instead fuck around with peoples (the band's) lives you write about - making them think they are the next big thing and then blank and slate them until they split up. You bunch of undignified, cheap people

Dimebag riff used in Nickelback song

for gods sake, bands do this all the time, whats different here - people stop whining just cause its nickleback, there are far more worse examples

Span Call it a Day

agree with gymmy totally, especially about how over produced the album was. the old demos were so much fucking better - especially papa

Lethal Bizzle - Uh Oh! (I'm Back)

hes very good and so are fire camp- there are better singles to come. my friend has been following them around and filming then for a dvd which is out (ghetto style!) called 'On Point' which is fantastic - real good grime. in one video they even get to squeeze them driving in loyds park! (for anyone that lives in walthamstow)

Roll Deep - The Avenue

agree with dove from above. its used too much and is why i dont like the song- i got sick of the sample. wiley and roll deep should stick to their original grime.

Xfm to go nationwide?

i hate xfm. radio for rock is pathetic. not one good station.
radio 3 all the way now! :D

Fightstar - "If people come to our show and throw shit at us, they've still paid to get in!"

theyre a good 'verse and chorus' band but when it comes to them composing bridges and endings etc they fail-such as in 'paint your target'-i mean those palm muted chords in the break are awful-no thought in them at all-just a rushed break which they could have made so much better. Charlie's voice does not suit the band at all-the other singer's voice is much better and would suit their sound at alot more if it was lead and Charlie was backing. A perfect-produced record also helps them....i think they will not survive more than a year unless their second album (not whatever the first will be) is something to be amazed at...

Bloc Party

i fucking love ash

Good Lord! It's An Arcade Fire UK Tour!

they are ok? the singers voice gets very fucking annoying and chats alot of shit. i like the instruments though

Maximo Park - "As far as we are concerned, there's only good music and bad music"

agree- i think maximo park are very good, and the album is brilliant and just so well reorded.

Re: Wake up: A Busted tribute

Amen!

Exclusive: Bloc Party to play Barfly gig

Bloc Party are shit. Not helped by the stupid media hype either. A band sure to dismantle by the end of this year

Mars Volta announce UK dates

wow, just got the album, ur in for a treat. Track 1.....amazing.....

Mars Volta to release one-track album

and coheed are no way as good as the mars volta. plus, this is anything new to have one track. dj shadow? but still, so many bands do it. Yes, its fine at first, but after a while, the majority of people in the end buy a cd for music, not because of the mood, and so there will be parts on the cd people will want to skip to because they like it. now theyre not going to enjoy fast fowarding 60 minutes to listen to the last 10 now are they...
its stupid. typical arrogant mars volta. still the best band in the world

Mars Volta to release one-track album

nevermind, ill just chop up the tracks in cool edit

Q Awards nominees: the usual suspects

This Year's Love is a classic song. whats wrong with it? Brilliant piece of songwriting. One of the best singles of the summer

LostProphets getting arena-sized

i agree with raz totally on his first defensive post on lost prophets. i thought exactly the same. theyre talented, and write brilliant songs. so it may be a little poppy now, but that won't last forever. its just the pressure of popularity to create songs like that. 2 albums time theyre be back to thefakesoundofprogress. we are godzilla you are japan saves that cd

You good, good people: Embrace save V

oh my. embrace are fantastic. the good will out cd is great. and the last time i saw them at that secret papa roach/therapy?/feeder concert at brixton they were fantastic

Hell is for Heroes - One Of Us

how did you find that out?

Hell is for Heroes - One Of Us

the stutter effect is absolutely stupid- makes no sense to have it there, they could have just done that smoothly.
The song is good, but i still dont think theyre songs are as good as they can be. it counds like they dont put 100% into their song writing. its too repetitive, and with a bit more effort, could have key changes, changes in chords at parts, and extra bits of structure.
this song is typically hifh with so much potential, but only an averagely good song to come out of, with repetitive music which makes the some become boring after a while. just like the album

Camden Palace to reopen... as Koko

Club NME - :S Thats ridiculous- i so wont be going to that

London's week of rock starts Monday

errrrr cof are total quality

Download: Barfly Stage Announced: thisGIRL, Span, T(i)NC... +Suicide Girls

Download: Barfly Stage Announced: thisGIRL, Span, T(i)NC... +Suicide Girls

my god acid tone suck. i checked out their site. i thought it was a joke. but do tel me this is a joke. hurricane party are infinite times better than these guys. hell, most bands are better than these guys. there is no rock and rock to it at all

Too Many DJs? Welcome Back the Soulwax Band

YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally!!!!!!!!! One of my favourite albums!!!!!!!!!!! Oh cannot wait for this. If they come to reason, PLEASE not a dj set

Reading Weekend Tickets All Gone

ImageChange -> legendary post!

Eavis: Lottery is the answer to Glasto saga

plus, people would just enter the draw for the fun of it, and then they will sell their tickets for so much. what a shit, shit, shit idea.

At the Drive-In: Anthology

erm. arc arsenal is their best track. alpha centauri would be nice.
acutally farenheit is their best track from el gran orgo. the chorus sings more than one note....
They should cover "we are the champions" that would have been interesting....

thank got for the split of atd-i. without it the greatest rock band of today- the mars volta wouldnt exist. thank you. thank you so much.

Blazin' Squad to Rap England to Victory?

i come from walthamstow....
btw blazin squad are from chingford.

Ash - Meltdown

agree with crosby. ash are just amazing. ill be biased of course cause they are one of my favourite bands. but to get this far. just brilliant. from 17yr old kids seeking permission from a headmaster to tour with rock stars, to a greatest hits cd, and now this. bring it on
best song will be evil eye i reckon.

Ireland: No smoking - UK next? Should fags be banned from gigs?

itl be a start. nice to know pestimism exists though. Gigs would be a much better experience without smoke. You enjoy the rock and roll experience more. So many things are defined as rock and roll these days it wouldnt matter if smoke is missing

McFly: NOT the New Busted, Okay?

well said daragh

Ireland: No smoking - UK next? Should fags be banned from gigs?

Well said Cadd!!!!!
Clauski- Ireland is the ultimate pub country- so if they can do it- we can certainly do it.
People with asthma-and people are arguing about free country- well your stopping other people's freedom by being selfish with yours. Think about asthmatics before you jump in with the 'free country' piffle

Ireland: No smoking - UK next? Should fags be banned from gigs?

but that would be fine if it affects no one else, and as it does, then its a problem. also, even if it DIDNT affect anyone else, it should be a human right to help out others, and not just leave them.
would you leave a man lieing on the road having a heart attack due to him smoking too much?
its everyone's responsibility to make sure we live in a healthy planet.
