their live show
Is the absolute best around. No one better, hasn't been for going on 5 years now. Their albums just keep on getting better as well.
The Shins and McDonalds
The Shins getting a song used by McDonalds that includes the lines:
"New Slang when you notice the stripes, the dirt in your fries"
and
"Godspeed all the bakers at dawn, may they all cut their thumbs and bleed into their buns"
makes them pretty fucking awesome in my book.
They're
a hell of a lot better live than they used to be. Were excellent during their tour back in May.
they were
two of my absolute favourite albums of last year.
I like The Greatest but can honestly say that I prefer every single other album on that list.
Forecast for Benicassim
is the same...
Ahh, who the fuck am I kidding :)
Beyond the modern mentality
I've always been a fan of the song but upon seeing him at Leicester Charlotte and realising I was surrounded by drunken yobs waiting to sing Oxygen I did begin to question my faith. Then he completely changed the lyrics and left them all dumb-founded and all was well in the world again.
Agree completely on Nina Violet too, a real find.
Also, my ticket said 'Willy Nelson' this made me laught lots.
It's all spread too thin
There's too many festivals and not enough good bands to go around unfortunately.
When I started going in 2000 you could sit around in March and you could know that you had a good day of metal coming Sunday and ace bands all over the place. Now I'm expected to go a field in Suffolk one week, a park in Leicester the next and endure V for some of their bands. It used to be just a case of tromping from the evening session stage to the carling tent.
Post War Years
Thought they were a pretty poor band really. Seemed to be playing discoy stuff for the sake of it, rather than having the slightest grasp of what makes it fun or it adding a thing to their songs. Strip that away and their just a rubbish version of Cold War Kids. Somewhat ironic given the name. 3 or 4 out of 10 from me for them.
It's the kinda song
You can only ever listen to twice. I have listened to it twice, I like it. I never want to hear it again.
