Saw Portishead both nights and whilst the stars and the sea gave the outdoors performance a certain magic - which was only slightly dimished by Boris...how rude :) - the acoustics in the auditori are simply magnificent and tailor made for the quieter numbers (the start of The Rip and the new throbbing Wandering Star). Also the stage invasion in the auditori at the end of We Carry On will live long in the memory.
Bon Iver was simply gorgeous and Justin is an absolute gent who was more than happy to chat and pose for photos.
Really enjoyed Vampire Weekend but we were smack bang at the front and for about half the gig the bass was ridiculously overpowering. Although I hear this was common at other stages as well.
Clipse were immense but they too seemed to be plagued with sound problems which was a real shame cos you could see they were frustrated with it as well.
One final comment, EVERYBODY we spoke to before the festival warned us of the pickpockets and muggers and scammers plying their trade in Barcelona. I was in a group of 7 and one person lost their phone, one person lost their handbag and one person lost their wallet and ALL items were returned to the owners. Thankyou Barcelona and all your beautiful inhabitants. We shall see you in 2009.
