My Morning Jacket
must be due soon, looking forward to hearing what they follow up Z with.
I like
what I hear on myspace
I've liked quite a few of these albums...
... but I've only loved 3, so I voted for them.
1.) Deerhunter - Cryptograms
2.) Blonde Redhead - 23
3.) Electrelane - No Shouts, No Calls
I took my girlfriend
who is the PJ Harvey fan, it was my first time seeing her and I was very impressed.
The first 3 songs on guitar were great and I was totally hooked from then on.
I enjoyed her new material on the piano, especially "The Mountain". Her vocals soared and echoed around the Bridgwater Hall very nicely on that one I thought.
Would have been nice if she'd played a bit longer, the set seemed to fly by.
I Like this.
YEAH!
Nice!
Roll on Friday!
I've got a mate who saw MBV a few times
He reckons the first time he saw them was one of the most intense experiences of his life. Ear/sense shredding!
I was too young to see MBV and they aren't going to release an album anytime soon, so for me Asobi Seksu (in places) are about as close to MBV as you get right now (see Pink Cloud Tracing Paper off Citrus Album).
Great album!
Can't get enough of the "The Dress" right now.
Nice review
Really enjoyed their set and both my mates did who I'd dragged from the bar to watch.
Liked the way they book-ended thier performance with an acapella intro of "We Do Not Fuck Around" and a rocking version of the same song at the end.
Best of order
from the people of Manchester.
Nice review
Saw her at The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and the venue was spot on that night too.
You could hear every nuance of the music and what a voice she has!
* want
not wont
I saw him
@ Tiger Lounge in Manchester and I still can't work out whether it was the best or worst show I saw last year but it was certainly the most memorable.
He was doing his thing and it was really quite good when about 15 minutes in he walks off the stage towards our table and starts banging a big glass ashtray on the table.
I think "Excellent, percussion too" but he gets louder and more forceful with his hits until the ashtray shatters! He then walks to the back of the room and starts banging on the ceiling (low roofed basement club) and moaning.
Attached to the ceiling are a load of cables that run to the DJ booth, he attempts to swing/pull on these but a bouncer grabs him and drags him up the stairs and out on to the street and says DTB can't come back in.
Whilst the above has been happening, his guitar, voice and effects are continually looping. No one knows what’s happening, people are staring up the stairs wondering whether he’ll come back but (after negotiation with the bouncer) he returns and plays a couple of songs before leaving.
It was one of the most compelling performances I’ve seen and what he was doing before the madness was great but I still have the feeling that if I'd paid for a ticket to see him I would have been aggrieved at what happened.
That said, The Complete Guide... is brilliant and I really wont to check him out again on the 12th.
*Apologies for the long post*
