People! Run out and buy a Centro-Matic album!

Fort Recovery would be a good start. And Re-do The Stacks is just lovely stuff. Run now!

It isn't just a digital EP.

It was released on CD this week.

The answer is:

A) The United Kingdom

I saw a promo of the new album in that record store in Crouch End.

I didn't purchase it in the hope that the official release will come with a bonus disc. I also realise that this comment isn't interesting in anyway.

Alt-country week sounds like it might be fun.

I've never heard Grandaddy described as alt-country though. I know it is probably difficult to define what a genre actually is and what band would fit into it but... Grandaddy are just indie rock.

And don't I know it!

I tried to get off ebay once but it went well above my £20 limit. I have the Broken Down... and it is probably one of my favourite Grandaddy releases. I just think it would be nice to have every b-side as part of some lavish boxset.

I'm glad he mentioned Earlimart. I bloody love that band.

Grandaddy and Earlimart did a split EP that has yet to be released I believe. I hope it does come out soon. Also a boxset of all the Grandaddy b-sides would be lovely.

I think that is the worst album cover I have seen in quite a while.

She looks like she would have the capacity to annoy me.

?

Well, she hasn't even mentioned Lullabies For The Working Class... Why?

I was in Fopp the other day and I very almost got these reissues...

But then I didn't. They are available as slightly cheaper 2 CD sets without the DVD but still pretty expensive. EMI will eventually release a b-sides album, I'm sure of that.

This was a good read.

I've been so excited about this Will Johnson / Jason Molina split ever since I saw it mentioned somewhere on these boards.
And that Sojourner boxset is pretty fantastic. I really like the Nashville Moon album. I really like it.

I really enjoyed reading this article.

A Will Oldham piece would be great.

Didn't one of these produce the recent Modest Mouse albums?

Can you hear an influence on Modest Mouse? Maybe I should check this band out. For some reason I always thought they were a band from the 60's.

Teletext reviewed this gig today annd they weren't so positive.

I think 5 out of 10 was there overall mark.

First few listens haven't really done much for me.

Not anywhere near as being as good as Palo Santo.

Did he not tour Face The Truth? I thought I saw him play that album live.

I think I'm looking forward to this album but I really didn't like Face The Truth. He was so dull live also (if I did see him).
I find as the years go on, I listen to Pavement less and less. Though I still listen to bands that have been clearly influenced by Pavement.

Well, I think it is a solo show.

He is probably just using the Pedro the Lion name to generate more interest.

North London.

What kind of tour is that?

Don't you know I live in London?

I'm quite excited about this gig.

I'm liking the album quite a bit.

See. That was a useful and insightful comment.

This is the first BtS album that has really been written by the whole band.

I do like this album but I think it might be a bit long in places.
If you are just getting in to them I would recommend Keep It Like A Secret next and move on to everything else after - INCLUDING the Doug Martsch solo album and the Halo Benders stuff.

Probably won't tour England again for another 6 or 7 years...

I like this album.

You can get with a great 21 page book of art here:

An old lady playing the spoons

would have been more fun than watching Slint.

It will happen this time.

Oh yes.

Tim Kinsella:

We are all very disappointed about this conclusion, but make believe has no choice but to cancel our European tour. We have all been looking forward to it for months, but the financial agreement has changed dramatically in the last few days.
If the finances had originally been presented to us as they now are, we never would have agreed to do the tour. It would have been brought up, and we would have said 'no thank you' and never thought about it again. However, we have been told one agreement for months and have now at the last minute had the entire deal changed.
We've spent a few days trying to figure it out, but the present conditions are imposssible for us. We do not have our own money to spend as tourists visiting Europe - I can not get home on Christmas Eve and have to scramble to pay my January rent.
We apologize to all that have put time and effort into coordinating this, but feel we have no choice. The tour as it now is is not the tour we agreed to do. We hope everyone understands we are more disappointed than anyone else and we do hope to get to Europe soon.

I

own one of those albums and it isn't there best.

Re: Bright Eyes - Spend an Evening with Saddle Cre

The Wilco movie is great and you don't really need to like the band to enjoy the movie (it helps though).
All sorts of stuff happens. Band members get fired, record label drops them, Jeff Tweedy is sick...

Her Space Holiday - The Past Presents The Future

I got this and I've not had chance to really listen to it yet.
First impression is that its not blowing me away. Really liked The Young Machines and the songs just aren't as catchy on this. Well I think it might be a grower and I haven't given it a chance yet.
One thing I will say is The Young Machines is so much better then Give Up by The Postal Service.

Bright Eyes - Spend an Evening with Saddle Creek

Good review.
I got this DVD with a HMV record voucher I won and I don't think I would of got it otherwise.
Its interesting to watch but I can't see myself going back to it many times. The early footage of a young Conor Oberst singing is quite cringy.
Released on Plexifilm who are great. Everyone should watch the Wilco film they released and be excited for the Guided by Voices live DVD that is coming!!!

Re: Kanye West: "Bush doesn't care about black people"

Was it a phone in donation thing? I bet alot of people didn't donate after he said all this.

REM, Bright Eyes, Nada Surf et al line up anti-Bush CD

Was this not released around the American elections? I'm sure it was because I got it. Or is this a story for the English release?
