morning view...

.... is not nu-metal for one thing, because i can't stand it either, but morning view has been rejected by a lot of fans because it's not "heavy" is that not a little pathetic...?

incubus

there seems to be two sides to incubus; theres the rock-out-loud side with science, and make yourself (love both) and the more sensitive with morning view (also love) and they seem to have created two different fan bases...

personally, i'm not really impressed with a crow left of the murder, its got all the elements there to make it a great album but somehow it just doesn't quite hit the mark for me. i'm trying to give it a fair chance to grow on me though so watch this space...

black market music

absolutely brilliant album (and a brilliantly written review) its got everything thats good about placebo, hauntingly beautiful lyrics and the more superficial songs that make you want to bop...

sleeping with ghosts

well i'm throwing my opinion in aswell, i hate it when people go on non-stop about being "the greatest fan" of something just because they force themselves to like everything. Real fans are willing to listen objectively, how do you know if somethings good if you're completely biased? i've listened to placebo since without you i'm nothing, and i admit that the album is totally self-indulgent, but i bought it at a time when i needed to be self-indulgent, and i'll always stick it on when i feel like having a good old tantrum, its brilliant. as for sleeping with ghosts, its not as sensitive, but theres no denying that its well refined and fans of earlier albums are just going to have to accept that they're moving on. i will say, however, that i was disappointed with them at leeds festival, i was really looking forward to them but it seemed like they couldn't be bothered.

garbage

i'm so glad to finally hear people being honest, i've liked garbage since they came out, at one time, they were all i listened to, but these days they sound like an arrogant high-school band covering garbage... and as for "musical snobbery"... thats just plain silly... i'm still holding out hope for a band of such great potential, they've done some truly amazing things but i fear their time may have passed though i hate to say it...

blah

most of the songs on the album lack the UMPH! contained in previous albums, its good in its own right but not comparable to the other ones

hooray!

i have The Best of Silverchair and Neon Balroom, both absolutely incredible. the striking thing about listening to a Best of cd is that silverchair have developed and changed over the years and you can see a very clear progression but they've maintained such a high standard that i can't say i prefer one to another because they're different but equally good, most bands either get better or get worse but silverchair just keep on evolving....

for the love of grace...

most people i know never heard of him, but then i haven't met a single person who wasnt impressed when they heard Grace....

.

godless was such an incredible track, never thought they were capable of that.
you gotta hand it to them, they know how to write a catchy tune that will not stay out of your head...

.

absolutely incredible. different from anything else and worth a listen. saw them at leeds festival and it was top notch...

sixteen stone vs golden state

i'm actually a huge fan, golden state was the first album i bought, and i can't realy pin down what i like about it to be honest, but then i bought sixteen stone a few years later and i was completely blown away. the problem is that listening to golden state after that is it seems formulaic instead of a progression to greatness like most bands do. but since i've listened to golden state for so long it holds certain memories for me, which is probably where my attachment to it lies....

yum

i was hugely impressed with the album, and thats saying a lot considering i hated the strokes at one point, but their previous few releases have made me review my previous judgement...

greatest hits

i only bought greatest hits as a relic of my childhood, but its a brilliant album, but This is Hardcore is one of the ones i always skip because they've done so much better...

not convinced

i don't really think its appropriate or necessary to attach big names to a project like this, its teaching kids that celebrity culture is a thing to be celebrated... theres enough of that at the moment. music should be good in its own right. not bought into because its endorsed by big names

happiness is cooper-shaped

i've been listening to the coopers for a good few years and i've listened to radiohead since i can remember. they're nothing alike.
the first time i heard The Same Mistakes, it literally made me fall to my knees and i think the album delivers a swift kick in the nuts everytime i listen to it. neither album has ever lost its potency and i still find new and interesting things about it to make me fall further in love with it. (boyfriends will always come second)
as for what people said about the last 5 minutes of track 5, i agree, the first several times i listened to it, it felt physically painful, but i think its incredible; its powerful and frightening and intimidating. absolutely perfect in contrast to such a soulful song.
