It's not on Spotify,
but surely Bromst by Dan Deacon is one of the year's best so far? Repo by Black Dice too.
a) Saint Dymphna
thanks!
baile funk, booty bass, fidget house and kuduro
crucial developments this year? Is it 2005? Does anyone care about Baile any more at all?
Juno is better than The Leanover!
Especially the 7" version. One of my favourite songs ever.
I'd have gone for Anticipation rather than Mind Your Own Business too. Everyone knows MYOB, barely anyone seems to know Anticipation.
Wavves are amazing
You missed out Salem though

Amazing night
David Scott Stone and Lucky Dragons blew me away.
A) The Past Is A Grotesque Animal
Thanks!!!
I was underwhelmed at first,
now I'm besotted. My favourite Dwyer record since "Bangers Vs Fuckers".
Parts & Labor have been added too!
With Edgy 59, Asva and Gravetemple playing, what are the odds on a Burning Witch reunion?
Erm..
They aren't named after a song on The Real New Fall LP, they're named after the song "New Puritan", which isn't on any of studio albums, and "Elvis" sounds a lot more like "Big New Prinz" than "Sparta FC"...
I didn't think this was a "proper" album as such,
more a continuation of the demo CDRs they've been releasing for years. They've been promising a proper, double vinyl full length for bloody ages now, maybe it'll finally see the light of day now they're vaguely popular...
I'm pretty sure Ida sings "this is violet" on Digital Versicolor too, rather than "violent" (rather pedantic, i know).
Other than that, good review. Glad to see them getting the exposure they deserve after all these years.
^ This
no Pre, Eric Copeland or Black Dice either!
That's rubbish
they released lots of great music after the debut ("give me back my man", "mesopotamia" and "legal tender" spring to mind). Yes, Love Shack is dreadful, but you can hardly judge a band's career by one song alone...
How is she fit?
She looks fairly attractive from a distance, but when you see her close up, something screams "Mr. F"...
I love them
but i haven't exactly got high hopes for this...
I'd love to hang out with David Gest
if only to hear him attempt an english accent

All The Rage
is fantastic, i'm totally obsessed with it.
That's an amazing line up
I wish i'd gone. We'll almost certainly never get the chance to see the Magic Band or Jim O'Rourke ever again...
Since when did buying the Mail On Sunday
count as "selling your soul"?
Von Sudenfed
Please!
What does he look like?
Upset + Tomlab + Max Tundra + Simon Bookish + Shrigley = awesome!
I don't mind Craig David
purely because this wiki article wouldn't exist without him:

With Every Heartbeat: Drab?
Whatevs.
I was hoping
they would play ATP :-(
"only truly one great song thus far"
is utter bullshit. Listen to their back catalogue.
Phil9064:
You clearly don't have the faintest idea about R Kelly. Twat.
Prick
You've clearly never seen Trapped in the closet.
Can't wait
Twan might well be the most amazing fictional character of our time.
Originally, yes
but now she lives in America (Portland I think?)

Totally fuckin' ironic. Liking Rick James? OMG that's HILARIOUS.
Chromeo aren't at all
ironic., you clearly don't get it... The album IS pretty uninspiring though.
He's from Kenilworth
which is hardly the most working class place on earth. It's all a front, at least two of them are from very middle class warwickshire towns.
Tomlab
are consistantly awesome. They've released great albums by Casiotone For The Painfully Alone, Les Georges Leningrad, Final Fantasy, Deerhoof, The Blow, The Books, etc, and their alphabet series has had singles by Islands, Tussle, Dat Politics, Grizzly Bear, Simon Bookish and more! Plus they have singles by Erase Errata and Scout Niblett coming up!
Doing something different?
I've never seen a band so dull and derivative as PWYs. Truly dreadful.
Errrr
lots of people? Practically everyone i know loves the album, and a fair proportion of them have at least listened to the previous two. Why so angry?
It's more than a little harsh
to say that the music at liar's club was "frankly no different to the nightly fare on offer at God's Kitchen or Gatecrasher". I heard "Born On The Floor" by The Make- Up for christ's sake! These New Puritans were great. Their final track was incredible, it could have passed for an out-take from Hell Hath No Fury.
