I'm going to this

this looks awesomeness

no-one else wants to go cos of bestival the week before. pussies.

hmm

thought it was a cracking gig

lyre of orpheus and author were stand outs I thought.

How'd you know Into My Arms was weak? I really liked it, my mate thought it was soso, but if you weren't there....?

classic

information comes out telling people they can get tickets without the evil evil booking fee, but people just complain about something anyway.

^

starting listening to blackened sky and vertigo again about month ago. Some good stuff, I was surprised I still like it in a way.

i think he's on about the rest of the year

ie trying to get public transport in places they don't have it.

how many are playing with him?

I want slide guitar and violinist ONLY

Green Day

I liked other bands (like Foos and Manics) when i was 15, but I played Dookie, 39/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Insomniac a LOT, and I followed it up with forays to the Foundry (and other birmingham based venues) to watch other bands of similar ilk, which started my love of live music, and smaller/less well known bands, that I tended to prefer. I guess that's a gateway band.

twas indeed a very good gig

they're gonna need to play places with bigger stages though, there was a fair amount of overflow at NHAC. Maybe some ropes are in order, have a couple of the chaps doing Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon style leaps about the place. A 3D stage!

I should get a cut if this happens.

Also, good work on taking the credit for the pictures Mr D. They're cracking.

I like this idea

Isn't shit

only used twice in the whole review?

hehhe

tis quite funny looking back - Leatherface were shit that night though, dunno if it was the sound or what. HWM were immense that night, crowd was awesome too.

if we're in dream land

I say Dylan on friday, radiohead on saturday and Led Zepp on Sun. I could then die a happy man on monday.

^

agreed, I've even got to like the chinesey bit (as some describes it below). The drop just before this is awesome though, just a bit of a long outro though.

Red Sparowes

are a pretty decent side project for the chaps in that band. Well, first album was very good, second one's STILL to grab me. Often the case with these projects? Initial idea pretty good, leading to good first output, slight lack of time/enthusiasm/effort on subsequent efforts?

^

for sure

I agree

Haven't heard reality (I'll have a look though), but heathen is a quality album, I was well impressed.
QOTSA - I liked the whole Nick Oliveri (on his uppers) vs Josh Homme (on his downers) live game, and while I'm not sure why its made a big difference, QOTSA are nothing like as good now

^ at latitude

though they were excellent at Moor too

I think it was when

they added the extra two guitars on 'Look at that Cloud!' that they finally managed to sound like Fat lip though

I would say

they're pretty much EXACTLY a mix of My Chemical Romance and Sum 41, with a side lashing of the Kaiser Chiefs.

I can't believe Martin's STILL going on about the goddamn free banquet he got. I think you had everyone's portion.

yeah

I think some sitters should be made to stand when the big acts are on - I was outside Dylan Moran (15 minutes before kick off) and it was ridiculous - loads standing outside who couldn't see or, more importantly, hear, and a lot of people left when if someone had come on the PA and said everyone behind some randomly designated waymark should stand up. They can sit down later if they want, but for the most part it's a bit selfish.
Or they could have it outside?

It's true

Redditch = shithole. Although there was a roundabouts of redditch calender or two that were good. And the curry (being so close to birmingham) is excellent, especially the Akash.
I very much enjoyed Wilco, Rodrigo y Gabriela and Vessels, and how good was the weather?
Shame about the late night music though, blurgh. Psycadelic sheep were awesome though.

we-ell

there's more to a good review then just the score...

The above

I thought the sound was fine, except for a couple of moments (notably the first 5 minutes or so, and then the first peak type bit of 'in fiction'), but I was fairly close in. The last two songs in particular (the 'final' song and the encore) were particularly immense, sound was spot on then.
I think the new stuff provides for a better overall show an all - it's great in its own right, and then the crushing parts from Panopticon and earlier seem even crushing-er, if you see what I mean.
I have always been a sucker for galloping drums though...
Awesome show though, Whatsaface Sundays (Oxbow) were bizarrely compelling, and Boris were quite good fun I thought. Gong n all.
