i wonder if the album was even submitted? i would have thought if it had been then it would have been shortlisted almost guaranteed.
who is there left
on emi?
seconded
haha!
maybe
i mostly agree but i actually think there are enough non-apathetic people out there to justify a slightly less stitched-up and predictable list.
yeah that's probably true
though how much time they give each one and how much integrity the magic 25 have probably varies a great deal from judge to judge. you'd likely shift a few thousand minimum if you got shortlisted i would imagine.
oh come on lads
i know dis have liked this band for a while but let's be honest - this album is a big pile of overproduced drivel, no matter how 'ok' or 'rad' they were considered in a 40 metre radius of hoxton five years ago. the fact it has taken them so long to put together an album speaks volumes. that godawful latest single is possibly the crappest piece of music to be shitted out by any group all year. i'm sure the dis staff themselves could come up with something more imaginative and get it released and positively reviewed in about 20 seconds.
i think they're fucked now since what pull they did have originally was only only on 14 year olds making their first explorations into the world of london nightlife and who were suckered in by a vain frontman wearing sunglasses and an obnoxious, snotty rest of the band. these 14 year old have grown up a bit to see beyond that meaningless facade.
mute are clearly doing whatever they can to break even but they've already brought their own quality control into question with this sort of thing.
cheers
for that. a very-much underpublicised fact.
mr diver
there must be an easy way of finding out the entrance fee at DiS towers. have no dis releases been entered in recent years? anderson perhaps? be very interested to hear how much it is this year.
i think
it's always been a case of having to pay several hundred pounds just to be considered. some labels probably pay for all their bands, like domino i would assume, if they can afford it. many labels can't afford to spare several hundred, especially not the way things are at present. bit disgusting really, paying for yorke et al to have another free night dining out.
maybe
domino didn't pay the fee for wild beasts? they probably did, but there are plenty of interesting groups who simply couldn't afford to cough up on the off-chance they'd get shortlisted. so there's that immediate barrier to a huge number of acts.
but...
you have an incredibly narrow, highly capitalist-conditioned and immature interest in music. Anyone trying to defend Oasis as a musical act unarguably requires a serious IQ boost.
fucking shite
simple as that. utter rubbish
...
without wanting to sound angry in any conceivable way of course! i do find it very odd though how kids look up to moronic aggressive talentless americans.
?
what the fuck has that got to do with anything? are you some kind of cretin that will go along with any sort of behaviour by people who you assume could beat you up? you ought to be ashamed of yourself. yeah, this cunt is cool, cos he could beat me up. well, in that case, you deserve all the beatings you get. i bet he's all talk anyway, some fucking rich LA twatface playing tired rockstar cliched riffs. wankers.
fucking vile band
he deserves to be shot. what an arrogant homophobic fucker. people will clap and cheer at anything. utterly shite band anyway.
please
go out into the world and explore. if you like coldplay, you've probably only gone as far as the supermarket.
6/10 was unfair though
unfairly generous that is. anyone with a budget of 2 million and eno at the helm could come up with something more imaginative than this in less than a week. full stop. they're cunts. gill is correct and being elitist is nothing to be ashamed of. crap is crap. they really aren't a band for people who like music.
totally meaningless
amusing but they obviously have nothing to say whatsoever. that or utter laziness. there is better comedy to be found elsewhere.
they do look like nice guys
but you do have to wonder why they bother at their age, carrying on like they're 19 and not even getting a wage out of it. good luck to them and everything but it is rather peculiar.
cos
in this instance feeder don't deserve any money. infact, their fans are mostly so dumb they'd download the wrong band anyway, which actually would probably sound better.
eno
certainly ought to hang his head in shame about this. there is no justification for having anything to do with it other than private education fees for his kids or mortgage repayments on his notting hill offices. disgusting. shown his true colours. allegedly he said coldplay are the sort of band who 'live on the creative edge'! haha
what bollocks
i have every confidence that this is a worthy addition to recent modern culture. this band and this reviewer ought to be gagged, weighted and thrown out to sea.
he used to be in a band with One More Grain
the trumpet player. i wonder what he thinks to them splitting up.
holy eno
Its goodto see Eno get a good write-up on what is quite a youth oriented website but the trinity comment is pretty ridiculous. Goerge Martin certain had a few more interesting ideas than your average pop producer but trying to narrow down great producers to a list of 3 is just not realistic, whatevr religion! haha

it's what people
from kendal sound like.
i rather like it.
though whether i know what i'm talking about or not is possibly debatable.
