Awesome pic.

just logged in to say that.

I was all up for getting similarly outraged,

but the stuff on their myspace sounds quite fun. So... yeah.

I'm pretty sure it was open to the public last year,

and at least the year before that..

The links for Ventnor and Zennor

BOTH GO TO THE MAP FOR ZENNOR. SORT IT OUT.

I disagree with you, it's the internet so these things happen,

but no I'm not deaf (although I can do the sign alphabet).

The last lines are "and they say violets grow their the whole year round", the song's about two people being in love until they die, the presence of a reference to death doesn't make the song epic, nor does it preclude sentimentality. It's a lovely, intimate piece of music, but I stand by what I wrote there.

Missed Talons as I was stewarding at that time, but heard good things - did manage to see bits of 4 of the sets, they all seemed to be as good as could have been hoped. Disasteradio looked absolutely awesome from what I saw, THWFOS were <3, and 6 Day Riot were good too, could have had a livelier audience but seemed to go down well.

Yeah, well saddened that it's not,

but their own songs more than make up for it. <3

^again, this

apart from the in-every-way-imaginable depressing John Robb piece, I've read more of the features this week than I have done in ages on DiS.

Napoleon the third

I don't think I can go to this, but I hate to feel left out of these things...

What?

It's a decent article, it's just not about alt-country bands. It would've been nice if it had been about alt-country.

*Does lightspeed champion sound**

also, I do like lightspeed champion. It's just not remotely countryish.

Alt.Country week?

I don't think it's being overly pedantic to say that these acts (as good as they are) are alt.folk artists rather than alt.country.

The first article, whilst poorly edited, did at least talk about bands that most people would be happy bracketing as alt.country. Does Lightspeed Champion songs sound like he's listened to Waylon Jennings, The Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers and Gene Clark, but has been put off MOR country and struck out in another direction? does he fuck. He sounds like he's got bored of electro, picked up an acoustic guitar and carried on writing songs the same way that he always has done. Singer-songwriter =/= alt.country.

Disappointing article.

So Dom Gourlay,

how does "the Stella-swilling, Hackett-wearing yobs they tend to attract" provide any particularly meaningful insight into the music? Smacks of cheap sixth-form snobbery, and I don't even like Kasabian.

.

Probably not the most tasteful place to make a cheap joke about *Sky Blue Sky.

Someone's helpfully posted all the songs on youtube,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvrDa_SsXK4&feature=related

The Last Goodbye is AMAZING - I don't think I've ever heard something so unloveably derivative in my life.

Seriously,

not a single joke reply?

B) It's Jo and Danny

Zach Hill

is the drummer, at least I think he is.

That hurt..

BAN THIS SICK FILTH

That actually made me feel physically ill..

Luke Slater =

Pretty well written review

I'm glad it's not as rhapsodic as, say, Weekend in the City or Antitodes etc., but I am absolutely buying this when I have money... Sometime, in the future...

This article isn't the same as what is said on the forum, though

"What does that mean? It means Jeff Pinkus on bass, Teresa ‘Nervosa’ Taylor and King Coffey both on drums and frontman Gibby Haynes, as well as guitarist Paul Leary if you get tickets for the New York City show."

Why did Alex Turner

have to kick Alex in the face though?

[/pedant]

Damn you Latitude,

Damn you to hell!

That

made more sense in my head..

Having encountered the barstaff at Truck far too many times,

I think it's more that they're freaks that happen to cross-dress.

Like Black Cats - not all black things are cats, and not all cats are black, but some cats are.

Yeah, but

that's the whole point. He's at least trying to make sure that the tickets DON'T go to touts, which is a pretty honorable way of doing it, especially considering that it probably cost a fair amount to set up. It'll sell out, even if it doesn't do so instantly..

Paulol

heh

Oh yeah

:$ my mistake

oops

unnecessary but

*Facts wrong

1. Ticket prices haven't more than doubled.

2. You sound pretty ungrateful, and whilst
I know nobody 'owes' anything to any music festival, but the fact that it still exists after the flooding last year is a minor miracle.

3. Truck has WAY more in common with old-style Glastonbury than the pigpen that it's become of late.

4. yawn

Delays, though,

Aren't so bad

Ace review

That photo

She looks more Jerry Anderson villain than human being..

Fair point about his best stuff being in the past

But that's hardly justification for saying it's getting tired.
Seeing him 3 times since he came back is probably more than most people will have managed, it's not like he's exhausting his audience with constant, incessant touring.

Can I just vote?

Cos I want this to happen, but don't want to comment.

Chris Bennett

Manchester 17th please

Capybara. Yeah.

SEVEN

stunning new kitchens. That's a lot of polished marble.

Who's

Ronnie Jepson?

In a begatting sense

I'm not saying either of them are anything special, I'm just... I'm just a bit hungover.
