How is that in any way not a collaboration?
From the bits that I've heard it has Jimmy Edgar all over it.
Not one mention of Jimmy Edgar?
This is a collaboration, no?
speeeeeeeeeedoooooooo
I'm excited about this. :D
Well... not reunion as such,
just the recent tours and that.
:(
I guess we were lucky to get a reunion in the first place. Especially one so brilliant.
What's with people dissing this tune?
It's TREMENDOUS.
Seriass?
I think the Justice album completely slays. I do like this album though.
volcano! at number 2!
Wow, I think Colin should be pretty proud of that. :D
But Ys is totally album of the year.
When I went
I thought it seemed less dress-up than white heat, most people hadn't really made much of an effort or anything. The door policy just seemed to be for keeping out any 'unsavoury' types they didn't like the look of.
A very lush one trick pony?
That seems an odd criticism. Like... you could probably say that about Loveless or something too.
I still think it's brilliant anyway.
This is just Reindeer
from the first album with some sleigh bell sounds over the top. CRAZINESS.
Okay okay...
I bought a ticket.
But only because of the "BUY TICKETS! BUY TICKETS!" thing. It was cunningly persuasive like that.
No
it's a reference to you.
This album is really excellent
Definitely agree it has crossover potential, it's a very un-techno approach to techno.
I by far prefer to this to the Nathan Fake album actually. His label is great.
I thought this album
was WACK.
I don't like what's happened to their sound at all, it's too sickly.
Anyone who thinks
the strings don't "fit" the rest of the music must be listening to a completely different album to me. I honestly don't understand that opinion at all. They couldn't be more perfect.
and Larkin Grimm
omgz
Ooh this sounds good.
Songs of the Green Pheasant = awesome.
This album
is SUPER.
Feels didn't make the cut?
That's craziness.
I thought Fonda 500 had split up.
For some reason...
I must have been wrong then.
They're awesome fun though.
hmm
I thought it was better than this. I don't really see the cold/emotionless thing personally. I think it manages to be extremely slick and polished sounding, but still emotional, it's got quite a nostalgic/sentimental feel to it - the pads are really warm and sad sounding.
This one does seem to be dividing opinion though.
yeah
he's playing barden's next thursday too.
just got my ticket for the lumi one
should be awesome.
I think this band are quite boring.
I agree that they could be a lot better than they are.
It just sounds a bit half-baked and unimaginative, or something.
This is amazing news.
And yeah, live they're easily one of the best bands ever.
I thought it was a bit boring.
I was quite disappointed.
nowhere near as good as Dntel.
or even figurine.
it says 6.50 on ticketweb.
anyway, I think I'll be going to this.
the new album is ace.
I still prefer CocoRosie, but I liked this a lot.
It's much more eerie and creepy and sparse sounding than CocoRosie... Possibly a bit too long though, I thought it dragged out slightly. First few tracks are great though.
This deserves a 10.
I think you've literally hit this one right on the head, John.
This album is absolutely stunning.
You're right about the lyrics though, you don't really notice them until repeated listens, since her voice is just used more as an instrument and the words just kind of get lost under all the layers of sound. But when you do pick up on them they add a whole other dimension to the album.
I actually really liked 'W.A.Y.U.H'
so there.
I got inside the tent.
He was excellent.
The new stuff wasn't half as bad as I expected it to be, but I couldn't really make up my mind on it either.
This does look a bit like a too many cooks job, I hope it isn't though...
ooh...
I want to go to this.
worst album cover of the year?
I enjoyed this though.
Just because it's free
Doesn't mean it's exempt from criticism.
It's actually quite depressing how awful this is. It's easily the worst thing Doom has ever put his name to.
i know
but it's not the same, because he's not the smiths.
and I don't like morrissey's solo stuff so it wouldn't be worth it.
actually it would really suck.
hmmm...
but smiths songs! played live!
:(
that's true.
but it doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable. (i guess some people enjoy war re-enactments?).
the pixies' reunion was fantastic.
sad thing is i know i'd buy a ticket for this if it ever did happen.
I wouldn't see morrisey on tour though.
Muse have just always seemed really soulless to me.
They try to go for the HUMONGOUS, earth shattering sound with everything they do, but actually achieve it about 1% of the time. It just all seems a bit empty and hollow, like it would all fall apart if you poked it or something.
That new song is the most nauseating thing i've heard in ages. I don't even understand what they're trying to do with it.
I'm struggling to think why they would be so important, what actual impact have they had on music apart from selling records and tickets to shows? they haven't really influenced other artists and music around them in the way that radiohead have.
But I can understand why a lot of people like muse, I guess they've just never really convinced me at all.
Obviously i've not heard the new album though.
nice review!
this gig was INSANELY good.
I think part of me died in the luminaire.

Not that it matters that much.
Just seemed a bit odd there was no mention, or taking into account of that.
