wow

this is really old news, why's it taken you guys so long? i think RFH is nearly sold out. i am of course going.

what a packet of cuntery

i agree with the nuking option. it's the only sane option and no court in the land would convict.

Thats it

Yet another review I couldn't disagree more with. I don't know how anyone could fail to love this show, I really don't. Everyone where I was stood was mesmerised, I had rnadom strangers hugging me and i thought the new songs were beautiful. yet every time i see mr adams i am blown away and then read reviews spouting some nonsense or another. I think i'm just going to have to stop reading his reviews as they just make me mad.

I just think

it's really poorly written, the guy seems to have set out his stall from the start and decided what he's going to think of the record before hearing it and I am just getting more and more disappointed with the writing of late. This and the Hold Steady single review have really made me despair.

Alex Denney

You are an idiot. It's writing like this that makes me winder why I'm bothering with this site anymore.

ps This album is great.

Cody

That is drivel. I dare say even ignorant drivel. The Hold Steady are absolutely brilliant and this single wipes the floor with more or less every other single I've heard this year. I echo the sentiments of OceanStorm, why DiS gives this band such cruddy reviews is a mystery. Stick with My Chemical Romance then Cody, sounds like Early Learning Centre 'rock' is more up your street.

shitey toss

the equivalent of the view or the enemy of the 90s. not musically, just in how much they are cunts.

you utter

fool.
a brand new album for free and a living legend not charging the earth for tickets for his show? i think thats a pretty good deal myself

get yourself to fuck

send away the tigers is great

nearly

"a posthumous double-disc collection of outtakes and things which didn't quite make the cut for Elliott, the ever-obsessive perfectionist, or for those dang major label goons of Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks label"

These songs all pre-date his time with Dreamworks, he was with Kill Rock Stars at this point.
Am I right in thinking New Moon is released on KRS in America? If so that makes Figure8's comment a little silly.
Not everyone will scour the internet my friend, I have and I know most of these songs but even if I had downloaded everything I still would have bought this record. The Elliott Smith Fund makes money from this, you can put a cynical negative spin on it if you want or you can just be pleased we have (more or less)completed versions of these songs when we didn't before.

am seeing them tonight

at windmill, cracking line up too.

bye then ;p

sorry, not my cuppa really. am sure theyre good peeps though.

record breakers

is that the quickest time a music mag has gone bust ever? this story reminded me of the brief existence of Bang magazine - what a shitbag that was.
worst.magazine.ever.

whenever i see their name

i think its barenaked ladies.
this is unlikely to be a good thing.

i wouldnt really call QOTSA 'fun metal'

i think they are ace.
but thats beside the point. this is a ridiculous knee-jerk reaction and just goes to show how quickly people want results now. that said, i flicked through the first issue the other day and it seemed pretty awful at first look. plus the cover does make it look like a cross between Heat and Look-In. Maybe that's the demographic now?

why

have you listed may 19th as reading fez club but their myspace has it as oxford zodiac?

awful

just awful. go the fuck away please.

9/10

from me too. One of the best pop songs I've heard in a long time.

Elliott Smith doing My Sweet Lord?

First I've heard of it and now i am curious. i knew he'd done a few harrison songs, anyone got a link to an mp3?
Covers - Its a tough one. I dont like it when people build a career on doing covers and I really don't like any of the Mark Ronson stuff I've heard but then some people can really make a song their own.
Favourites -
'Hurt' by Cash (goes without saying)
'Thirteen' by Elliott Smith
'Thats When I Reach For My Revolver' by Coxon

neecho

totally agree there - both bands had great starts but now plod along in an incredibly boring and unnecessary manner, i think a lot of people are giving them 3rd/4th/80th chances to 'get it back' when perhaps those chances wouldnt be given to other bands? or it could just be that i'm in a bad mood this morning.

5/10

It's a real shame, these guys seem just like they want to cling onto their careers and put together a 'radio hit' rather than actually make music that might be fun or enjoyable or natural. Am expecting that for the 2nd album in a row Charlotte's record is better. Maybe they can surprise me this time.

jeez

i didnt know this lot were even still going. must be, what, 80yrs now?

no. no one

so shut it

meh

and more meh

glitter in the gutter

i actually think its his best to date - i cant stop listening to it. that said, fine art and the heat are both class as well.

its just dire

awful tripe. yes i am a smiths fan, a fucking big one. its not even about the whole "hands off my tune ronson" thing. its just that he's done such an awful job.

i think i'll take a chance

despite most reviews ive read i got a feeling ill like this one

boring

i just dont get the fuss over this guy. he just seems really average to me, a couple of nice enough songs but nothing that really sets him apart from the crowd.

'Icky Thump'

is to album titles what the new Kaiser Chiefs sleeve is to artwork.

anything 'trying' to be sexy

will never be sexy. end of.

i struggle to see

how anything involving any member of the cardigans could provoke an opinion out of anyone is beyond me so i look forward to hearing it.

i assume this isn't true

if it is true then lets see what they have to say for themselves! ;p

im not in a band

unless you're talking to seymourmba? in which case ignore myinturruption

fair enough

all is forgiven. i don't like them, you do. end of

good call chimpo

you make a good point, it is tough to come up with a great line up but i'm not paid lots of money to do so. i'll gice it a go though

Fri:The Arcade Fire
Sat: The Cure
Sun: Either Dylan or Springsteen as they're both better 'veterans' than the stones as they've actually both made great records in the last few years

how do you figure that?

because you don't agree with me disliking them i should be ignored and scoffed at? thats incredibly childish. everyone's got a different opinion, hence why messageboards and the internet in general can be quite busy with debate. i have seen SS live twice, given them a chance on record, heard horribly unsavoury things about them as people so have come to the conclusion that i dont like them. mr MBA after me also made a point about a bad experience with them. perhaps i could have worded it slightly kinder but tough, i'm sure the band themselves wouldn't lose any sleep over this and neither should you.relax.

keanekasabianthefratellismuse

jesus h. that is one stinkingly boring line up. is there some sort of pact between all major festival promoters this year to see who can play it the safest?
*holds head in hands*

damn

thats a shame but yeah, they never quite followed up the first record properly. at least soup's been honest and said what he did as opposed to the obligatory 'oh we love each other and i'm sure we'll be bestest buddies forever'

i'll put this as nicely as i can

this band is atrocious. go away.

you're not the only one

yet another 'quite good indie band, i guess' for the list. a year or so ago they were being lauded from the tops of buildings as a really exciting band, now i'm yet to read a review of their new stuff that doesn't write them off. how quickly things change nowadays eh.

alright i suppose

ive seen them twice and i dont understand the fuss at all. pretty good band plays pretty good songs. thats about it as far as i can see.

launch

i was there too! loved seymours impromptu emo song (fucking hilarious!) and dexys ability to still sing like a bird after those people kept bringing him shots!

i suppose it was too much to ask

that these berks bugger off forever wasn't it.

God bless this man

This is clearly going to be brilliant.

What pointless cunts this lot are

Elvis = class, obviously
The Horrors = lowest common denomonator piffle, their songs are woefully unmemorable and how a band that look a cross between King Adora and a bunch of fucking cunts is being so lauded is beyond me.

i suppose it was too much to ask

that this lot had fucked off forever.
they make the automatic seem like less of a waste of bones and organs.
go the fuck away please.

10/10

this is just awesome.
i agree that they are better live but when i say i still consider this album a 10/10 then that tells you just how good they are live.

This record is

too good.
Certain Songs...floors me
