Agreed!

much better than Astoria!

Christ I'm such a saddo

Mika is not

the underdog. He's got the full weight of a record label behind him.

In contrast the full weight of the entire DiS staff is probably only equvilent to that half a pallet of ALDI baked beans.

that is brilliant!

i want a door-bell like that.

actually

that was pretty cool in an 80's way.

Star Fleet

What about that then Brian?

Are but here's the thing

No one asks you to put yourself in the media spot-light.

That's the point. If you are putting "YOUR creativity on the line" don't be surprise if people don't like it, or you.

These idiots need/love press attention, and all too happy for people to write fawning bullshit in their support.

And I speak from experience

I've been to every one since 1992. 2005 was my last.

golden skans video

Is pretty hilarious. It's like...

"LOOK UPON MY INDIE POP SONG, YE MIGHTY, AND DESPAIR!"

As a slice of classic pop it's pretty good. Like a Double Whopper; tastes really good at the time but leaves you guilty as hell afterwards.

Glastonbury doesn't change

you do

Will there be

a swimsuit section?

ha ha

It's an indie Miss World Competition!

Jesus how pathetic.

So koopa managament give a polite reasonable response.

DiS follows this with the usual "They're sh*t". Pretty moronic from a supposedly intelligent crowd.

Can't say I like the music, but fair play to them for doing what they've done. I'm sure if it had been a 'DiS approved band ' everybody would be jumping up and down about how great it is.

.

It's like <i>the</i> Jericho Tavern all over again.

sorry

this is sad

Growing up in Oxford I have lots of happy memories of the Zodiac (Venue). Sad to see this happen to such an institution.

It's like Jericho Tavern all over again.

Tag team

Coldplay and Keane are like some hideous tag team. You just get over the banality of one album when up pops the other one for another half-nelson of tedious mediocrity. Will we never be free.

That's up to them

But I think you can change the encoding on IE to unicode by using the above method.

EDIT > ENCODING > UNICODE

A better alternative is to use firefox.

IE

Long is the day when I hope IE isn't shit. Until then, I'd encode your html entities if I was you.

Hit and run

he almost ran over me in his Range Rover. He was using it to drive to the front of the stage at Glastonbury. Through the crowd. Nice guy.

I heard you lot chickened out...

Is that true?

great festival

not so good band.

bah

I'm not even going to release an album or write any music or play any instrument ever. That's how future I am.

Also

What's wrong with her forehead?

no it isn't

It's just a business.

seems a little fishy

to me.

look good in

leather

I dream...

of such attendances.

true

but not yet

TV Program

There's a TV show about them on the way too. Who would have thought it.

agreed

I doubt they've made a penny from they're record deal.
They'll be better of as the novelty act they are. I'm thinking children's parties, weddings etc

60,000 sales...

for a major label is rubbish, I doubt it would re-coop recording costs.

conflict of interest

DiS is great.

The only negative is a conflict of interest between your record label and the site. At the moment the balance seems fine, but with increasing success (finanical and otherwise) I can see the temptation to 'hype' your own music over other acts.

Obviously the bands you sign reflect the general opinion of DiS editorial but I feel you run the risk of undermining the credibility that you've built up over the last few years. For example would you trust or read a website owned my EMI, writing about the music scene?

Maybe you want to just note what bands are on your label when you write about them.

Or maybe I'm taking it all far too seriously.

Shingai is the most charismatic singer

I've seen for many, many years. The band's pretty incredible too. If there's any justice this will do well.

influences

I think they're a little young to have influences, and all the better for it.

worst live performer

ever...

not bad albums though.

City Showcase '05 details

because it costs so much to market a band. Once you have the album and you don't think it's going to recoup why spend the extra half a mill?

Back to Bluntdom: Your 'Beauty' Corrupted The Kids

errr. haven't the charts always been rubbish? Hasn't good music always lived in the margins?

This article is twaddle. Go outside, take a couple of deep breaths and go back to writing about interesting new bands instead of moaning like a teenage indie kid on a family holiday.
