For fucks sakes
this is a top album.
fucking shite
Jack White records White stripes bsides with a bunch of rock star mates...
this isn't exclusive
is it?
shame
the first album was decent, one or two good singles on the last. But the new one is distinctly average, I hope the album is better but I won't be holding my breath.
I justr don't get Crystal Stilts
some of it is musically intriguing but the guy's voice is terrible.
Will they ever release a new album!!!??
And will anyone care by the time they do?
Apalling band
Always have been.I know you released one of their early singles. But PHFFF Come on DIS now they're on a big label you can drop your love for them.
nah
harsh reviews are hilarious and needed. Against a tide of non critical mainstream/broadsheet reviews and backhanders by the labels, you need a good old reaffirmation of what's shit.
mmm
Its totally underwhelming it sounds like a bunch of under developed jamms/mixed with a few Ashcroft solo leftovers...There's the odd moment but generally its a paller version of their older work.
Frightened rabbit came out in
in late april/Early May did it not?
That's kind of my point too
Like the first killers album. You can't really approach this record in any other way than: "fun pop music with a bit of a heart." I'll take it over the kooks , the feeling, hoosiers ect ect
five?
Its better than a five in my view. I guess the production is a little shinny compared to their initial demos. But its still a good diso pop record, it will probably get people moving on dance floors.
HNIC are playing in Cardiff on the 9th of July

well
in this isntance he's made a terrible mess. Because he's seemingly produced a half way house between electro pop/new wave indie. Pushing the blondes into area's where they clearly aren't comfortable.
Whilst I respect any band who are willing to evolve and try different things, this isn't really successful is it?In fact the more I listen to it the more holes I see. And I was really trying to love it.The first album may have repeated a style but it was based upon hard work of two or three years of small releases and constant touring. This smacks of a record written in the studio.
sod that
the debuit is a far better record simply because its rawer, simply because the songs are better, simply because its more spitful and full of heart. Erol Alkan is a terrible producer.
The problem is
musically most of this is a clunking mess. And I was a massive fan of their early work:

I'm not sure we really needed
another Manics retrospective at the moment, but this is pretty accurate.
Although I would say a few things
GT: Sure the production sounds horrible now(their were better versions of many of those songs) and its probably over long but at least it was ambitious, intelligent and angry which is more than can be said for a lot of indie at that time, in short it stood out.
Know your enemy isn't good but I think the idea was to do something very un rehearsed and more loose, it was purposely underrehearsed after the strictness of EMG and This Is My truth, I'm told that a lot of those songs were studio based...
This is my truth is their last really decent album and even that is flawed. SATT is overly shiny, and commercialised AOR for me, it gets away from what the manics were really good at...
The Manics were never really a proper album band.Unless your a fan then not every album is going to be for you.
a nice tune
with a nice melody...
haha
DiS jumping the gun!
it sounds like
Shampoo! hahahhaha
I agree that this single is poor, but
"It’s all clangs and grunts musically, and unmemorable lyrics. Much like the entirety of his output of the last few years."
Is not strictly true, his last couple of albums have contained some very good songs, ok plenty of clunkers too but some good moments, more than you admit here.
brilliant single
but not a christmas release(agreed)
really good album
Not as good as some of their other works but a good album for sure.
looks weird
and clunky.
harsh
very
I dunno its kind of patchy
reinterpretation of their previous work isn't it?Still, a good band.
There's two decent songs
on this....
oops
yeah haha
Shard
were alright ish, nice fellas too. My Pleasure aren't as good, but by no means the worst band around.
Well done
You've succeeded in giving the band more publicity than they could ever hope for.
This isn't news
And he isn't that smug. Miserable yes.Akward definetly but smug I dunno...
wrong
Its a subtle change up. I like it.
harsh
Its a 8
Hard fi
Fuck off.Thank you.
Fucking dreadful
dreadful dreadful music.
This isn't a review
is it?
