Gas Panic

They really need to bring that one back, loved seeing that at Wembley back then too. Trouble is they're too lazy to mix up the old stuff, I was amazed at My Big Mouth getting into the recent setlist.

Great review though and agree, it was a great gig, although I was there Sun instead.

Mark E. Smith

First gig...

Other stories have been saying ICA instead of Roundhouse - can anyone confirm which it is, and when tickets go on sale?

Can't wait for Broken Records album!!

They're playing London on March 31st too :-)

^

I have to agree with the above, fantastic string arrangements indeed. Got it a few months back from the Album Club and think it's a great album, will have to check out the first one.

Great album :-)

However I think the Abbey Road comment has been taken too seriously. The full press release or interview stated:

“There was a bit more money floating round so we used Abbey Road this time,” he says. “There was a mastering effect we put on it with the preset title ‘Noir Bedroom Effect’. This is how me and George Martin got the sound together.”

The new single

is so much better live! One of the set highlights - have a look here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUWN6-EJt-0

Really wanna go to see Neon Neon!!!

Any recommendations

on which of those artists I should check out first? Bought a ticket as it's on my birthday and should be fun with a crowd of mates, but don't know any of those bands, so looking forward to giving them a listen!

New stuff sounded good!

I also loved the new Elbow stuff, especially the last track they played.

Anyone hang around long enough for Justice? I couldn't be bothered to wait through Sheryl Crow, so went to the pub and came back for Justice. Glad I didn't wait all that time, it was more of a 'sketch' than a live performance.

Massive indeed!

I am loving this track :-)

That one

is '21st May' which sadly isn't on the album. Hopefully it'll be a b side though!

Yes

The one where Fyfe sounds luke Justin Timberlake lol! I'm curious to see how that one turns out on the album, I have lots of faith in their ability to pull off weird ideas and end up with a great pop record :-)

Looking forward to the book!

Getting my copy at the signing thing tonight, anyone else here going?

Can't wait!!

London is £16.50 btw.

Surely this will mean

that more people will buy tickets to re-sell on eBay, due to the fact that it is more 'acceptable' as artists will receive a cut. Therefore it will only increase the problem of tickets selling out in seconds to be re-sold at inflated prices.
I certainly can't see any positive effect for the consumer.

Yes

They are playing live too, 3 songs apparently.

I reckon it's possible to do both, providing Beirut play from 7 to 7.30 as advertised. The ticket says 8.20 start I think, and Liv St to Waterloo takes 12 mins accorting to TFL. Should easily be possible even including a 10-15 min walk at both ends ;-)

Another genius song!

That's why it's impossible to make a definitive mix CD cos there are far too many good songs to put on it!

Don't buy from Seetickets!

Buy from the Roundhouse website as booking/postage fee is just £1!!

Zoom!

Agreed, Zoom completely blew me away the first time I heard it, and still does every time. And the album is pretty great too, they have never released a 'bad' album, even if some don't quite match up to the quality of others.

I wish

I had got into them sooner. I always hope for more songs from that era to be played live :-(

It's totally

worth paying that to see them... but it seems to be one of the steepest price increases from the 'norm' - surely Mogwai normally charge around £20 anyway?

Guillemots

Yeah this would be an ace place to see Guillemots!

Can't understand why they're more expensive though, none of the bands are exactly huge, but surely speaking in terms of 'normal' gigs it would surely cost more to see Mogwai than Guillemots normally. That also applies to lots of the others....

EP

It's a shame those EP tracks didn't make it but I guess it can then be seen as a standalone EP to compliment the album, I guess the main thing is that those tracks have been released and will hopefully continue to be played live!

Techno

I think they once did record one, but not sure what happened to it. Would be ace if it does see the light of day sometime though!!

more

The banter between Noel & Liam was so funny to watch, was like watching stand-up comedy! Liam's inability to hold a microphone in front of his mouth was quite amusing too, he kept waving it around so you just heard the odd word that he said.

Noel admitted that he was probably just getting carried away when he claimed that Stop The Clocks was the best thing he's ever written. He didn't say whether it's ever planned for release, but he did say that there were 11 songs left over from the last album, 7 of which are really good, and 4 of which are amazing (not sure if that's 4 out of the 7 or the remaining 4).
When asked why they no longer play anything from Be Here Now he said that they used to play D'You Know What I Mean, but "it goes on a bit", and didn't really answer the question any more than that.

Screening

I was at the screening last night, and the Q&A session was hilarious. It was being filmed and I really hope it turns up on the Lord Don't Slow Me Down DVD. Pure comedy gold!!
