that's called 21st May
its not on the album. which i've been lucky enough to hear, and it's amazing! very different to through the windowpane, it's going to confound a lot of expectations - in a WOW kind of way!
we should start a campaign
to persuade the DiS label to put it out
check out their website store
you *might* happen to find some kind of pre-sale tickets
i read another source
that said Dave Grohl would be filling in on drums. is there any band that man doesn't play for??
that's a really diverse mix
but then they're a very diverse band. i think it looks fantastic.
you may well do
but they're on 14th Floor, which is part of the Warners group.
Yes!
Lokii and Phoenix Down did play - that was the URN tent that Martin Grech headlined. i remember because i booked them all!
fair enough he's a bit of a joke
but can't you think of anything more original that an 'ooh, gay sex!' quip?
it might have been on purpose
sometimes bands prefer not to be chart eligible as it's better to be uneligible than to get a low chart position. Not saying that Beck would have got a low position, but if the label or someone doesn't think it's been promoted enough then using stickers to avoid a potentially disappointing chart position is a well known tactic.
BTW Guillemots do have a british majority
The singer is english, the drummer is scottish and the bassist is half english, half canadian (and a british citizen) but yes the guitarist is brazilian.
as debut albums go
i think it's amazing. it is very full-on and extravagant in places, but also has some really tender moments, and flows beautifully between the two. definitely an album to be listened to as a whole work rather than a handful of tracks.
anyone that has seen this band live
knows that Fyfe isn't just a 'skinny white boy that can't sing that well'. He is an astounding vocalist; passionate and powerful yet wonderfully agile.
basically, robertsjames i couldn't disagree with you more!
you sound like someone that wants to dislike them because they've had so much positive hype. Well they're not unknown but it is their first proper release,
And of course the single version has to sound a bit more polished and radio friendly, thats hardly unusual. Maybe they've got so much 'gravy' cause they're actually really good!
oh my god...
surely they're fake if they're signed to a major?!?! actually it's a joint release by fantastic plastic and polydor.
and who care's anyway? they make intelligent, original and heart-felt music, and should be given a medal for trying to rescue the pop genre from its current sanitised and homogenised state.
they are playing birmingham
at the end of this month. the full listings are on guillemots.com

vocals on the new album
are much better. still characteristic, but warmer and more developed. and don't worry, there's still plenty of noisy instrumental parts, they've just got some kind of more structered songs in there too. it's ace.
gaah!
Having brought up in the musical black hole that is Leighton Buzzard, and having been back there just before Xmas to see the folks, I can't believe that I missed the first half decent band to play there in my entire lifetime! grr!
actually...
they have been playing it. in fact, it's first ever play was on jo whiley's show. Its just not on the playlist - i.e. its down to the discretion of the individual DJ as to whether they decide to play it or not.
Martin Grech - Unholy
I know for a fact that much of unholy was written while he was going through a very painful, emotional phase and that everything you hear/see is totally genuine.
Martin Grech books Unholy tour
Courtney to play porn legend
that might be why they think it will make an interesting film - ?

Muse
as for the classical music influences, anyone thats heard origon of symmetry knows theyres some flagrant baroque and classical inspiration (altho if you've actually listened to a decent amount of classical music it helps) and if thats not enough, matt bellamy has actually said in interviews how much he loves rachmaninov et al.
NUT hits out at boyband marketing methods
they'll think it's a bit of a laugh, show off the free stuff to their mates, get bored of making the effort about 3wks later and in a few years time they'll discover there's life outside the pepsi chart and start listening to some more interesting bands.
i got into music when i was that age and it was all total pop sh!t, but it was still enough to make me curious about what other types of music (ie better ones) were about.

Biffy Clyro - "We could be the future of rock"
i'd just like to say that i've met the guys from biffy on several occasions and having met a lot of other bands as well, i'd be hard pressed to find a more friendly and down-to-earth band in the UK. i can't believe you're taking it all so seriously - they're just joking! thay don't even sound anything like nirvana! besides, you can't judge a band's music on the basis of their personal opions towards other bands.
as for their music, i'd say that given their lack of mainstream press attention, you're average biffy fan if significantly more into original, innovative and mature sounding music.
And thats why their their fans are more dedicated than the people who just chase the tails of whichever band has been overhyped by NME that week.
T in a State: HOTS kicked off-stage?
and it's rarely a band's fault a gig runs late, it's usually promoters not leaving enough changeover time, or technical delays, security issues etc etc...
HOTS have overcome some difficult challenges in the last year or so and anyone who has heard the Lost Riots will realise they totally deserve the attention they're now receiving.
