apparently they were aces...in austin...

dragonhide new song on myspace is amazing..cant wait for this show...

maybe you should do the same...

youre always on about how you dont like fleet foxes (like all the other predictable new-haters that jumped on the anti-hippy bandwagon)..

a quite useless list...

fleet foxes that low? how effin predictable. no acorn, no peter broderick,no dept of eagles, no wavves, no blitzen trapper, well.... dis abandoned bella union as soon as the line of best fit started supporting them...shame as petty vindictiveness while attractive in some quarters is not something i admire in people.

despite this zine being all so dam cynical and obvious..

this show was, like the other 3 i have seen, magnificent.
and just for the record, robin was hilarious at shepherds bush empire-he and drummer j tillman trading punches about the advocacy about buying a small country....

well???

he certainy knew better than you didnt he>.(reference to the 'simon raymonde should stop talking about LTE etc" bit... doh

well???

he certainly knew better than you didnt he...

lists and prizes are stoopid

get a grip.. shit lists like this are only to satisfy the egos of those who create them. dont bother telling me its just for fun and as an alternative to the mercury prize. it isnt. your list is just as corrupt as theirs, just in a different way

eve

woe is me...

reading their blogs anyone would think they had such a shit time. hmm, travelling round the world, releasing 5 albums, having Canadian grants to tour everywhere sounds pretty dreadful doesnt it? new song? nah, nothing new, nothing that has the hairs on my neck standing up..shame

on the whole

as dull as dishwater the whole affair..

fit for nothing

awful wannabe pop stars..

yes it is just you ...and sean..

and amy winehouse is a bit shit mate...not fleet foxes

hypocrites

ha i love that Fleet Foxes tour was ' DiS sponsored' ' but the boss of DiS hates them! That smells quite brown.

hype

think you dudes have your y fronts in a twist again..a hype is something that has exposure through exaggerated claims made via advertising. for those of you who care, fleet foxes were not hyped by anyone. they played shows that freaked people out, they went to sxsw, freaked people out by their performances and then the press heard the album promos.Little labels like Bella Union cannot hype things, and it is rather sad that you all feel this has been hyped. i mean if you dont like it thats fine, who cares man, but dont talk bullshit and say its hype just cos you dont like it ....for me, its adorable and is the album of the year to date.

fleet foxes dates

looks like a FLEET FOXES and BEACH HOUSE uk and european tour in June is looking likely from rumours i hear!!

agreed...

seems a definite BIZNIS bias goin on ..she was front page of guardian guide on saturday and today she was on front cover of the independent holding the blooming statue!!! didnt like that at all...it seems she is a shoe-in to win it...bah..it aint all that..

mercury

ooops..fionn regan to win...all the others are wannabees....

mercury

fionn regan to win...

i love it and its obvious..

jealousy really is a wasted emotion.

soho revue bar

it was a great show and the next night same venue, bella union's stephanie dosen was equally exquisite..
they should duet!

josh pearson..

josh is guest of bella union's dirty three at atp this month, but according to josh's myspace page there has been no recording done as yet.

low happening...

was released last year on download only just as the band arrived here for the first time, but now repackaged in a lovely combination with vinyl and cd remixes of low happening by forward russia, the presets, sebastian, and little people, plus the great 4play feature on the band as an extra on the cd...which has a hilarious interview with the killers drummer talking about the bells in glorious fashion! it was officially released yesterday..

Bella Union showcase

My Latest Novel

Midlake
The Kissaway Trail

Buffalo Billiards Sat 17th March

what a bill!!!!!!!!

trespassers william's version

was beautiful..i had that from bella union...aqualung are a bit dull but there is worse

x

you bet..

yes i think so...got their myspace bulletin about new signings Kissaway Trail and Stephanie Dosen and both are really exciting...

america

a song came on the radio today...i winced at the playing, at the lyrics and the singing. i honestly it was like some demo sent in that had pricked the ears of the dj cos of the lowest common denominator level, and i was laughing out loud at how cringey it was, guitars all over the place and badly played, rough as old boots.." and that was the fabulous song from Razorlight " hahahahah i couldnt believe it...this band is total total shit...

howling bells...

sublime..best band of the year by an aussie mile...

and i heard juanita was single again!

lamacq on roundtable..

very happy after reading all this, to hear that the Dears won the vote tonight on Roundtable up against yeah yeah yeahs, tapesntapes, etc, so hopefully this will shut you all up for 5 minutes...jeez...one of the most birlliant live bands i have ever seen and youre all moaning already!!

the dears

reviewer just doesnt like it. as for not sounding like no cities left, well done dears. why people constantly want fave bands to make the same album twice is beyond me. interpol did it to terrible effect,so did strokes, so will editors no doubt, yet the dears have made a very brave album, raw and edgy. You and I, and Bandwagoneers and Whites Only Party are in no way 'indie rock' mediocrity. ha ha, i think the album is just too sophisticated for this reviewer...

clearlake..bashing...

i love clearlake, but like some of the best things, its an acquired taste. as for domino, yes one of the best labels. along with bella union, moshi moshi and city slang.

Luminaire gig..

wed 16th aug, fionn plays at luminaire.lets meet up?

agreed..

and who will be going to Luminaire tomoro (wed) to see Fionn? drew from babyshambles is rumoured to be playing bass for fionn...lets just hope moss and doherty dont spoil the night with some grotesque snogging in the back..

oh dear colin..

oh dear. a perfect 10 in my book. i hear there is an amazing acoustic version coming on to itunes next week..!! cannot wait.

wonderful thank you!

i have to disagree with most here..its one of the albums of my year. and i was lucky enough to see them with flaming lips last week in belgium. amazing band live..they have a film for every song they play!

roscoe

you're right! its absolutely addictive. hear they are the main support on the sold out Earlies tour in may, so when we can see them?????

spinto band,,

oh i am so glad you said that. i think they are SO ORDINARY!!

last night..

god yes! werent they amazing? i just bought my tickets for their show at Luminaire on 27th...you going pat80?

not remotely bothered...

when all is said and done, no one will remember them. domino have their hands full pressing enough franz f and artic m records. hopefully great bands like archi bronson outfit will get a break this year...best bands i saw this week, archi bronson and howling bells

luminaire

sound is really good compared to similar size venues like the spitz which sux.
my latest novel headlined the other night with support from jeffrey lewis and what a gig that was.. the howling bells this coming monday with devics ( sara lov AND HB's Juanita Stein on the same bill ....ooooh!now calm down boys!!) AND Mazarin solo set from Quentin. cannot think of a better bill in upcoming weeks..

27th Feb

i am extraordinarily excited to hear that sara and dustin are making a rare UK appearance supporting the equally fab Howling Bells at Luminaire next week on 27th.. i am excited enough but hearing this morning that Quentin from Mazarin is also doing a guest spot, i reckon this is gig of the year in the making..

king tuts....tut tut

what a fuckin gig that was...! they're damn good. the nme were right...they;re gonna be huge.

bush hall

adore this band....who's coming to Bush Hall...?

josh p

yeah he has one song coming up on a special white vinyl collector thing, as a split single with dirty three, that bella union are doing ( i LOVE this label!!!) but apart from that i don't know any more...i heard he was living in berlin now..??

howling bells

desperate to see them..i spoke to editors guitarist briefly after a recent gig and he said they were amazing! ( and lovely people too! which is always good to hear..)

the open

yeah mr dowling..not sure your brain is in gear. first album was a bit patchy but it sounded brilliant! new album may not be hip and dripping in the new rock cliches you seem to favour but it IS an adventurous and brave album, that is REAL and has truth behind it. even if there may be a couple of tracks i am not personally mad about, it has depth and beauty. i like artic monkeys allright but depth and beauty are non existent

midlake

i hope they invite Midlake to support them!! i heard their new track on the bella union sampler and see they're playing with them in the usa in March, so fingers crossed...amazing..

ULU last week

not very good i am afraid ...a right old fuss about nothing..

atp

how is pearson not playing at atp? is there a better artist out there right now, giving his fuckin all every single night??

dec 2nd spitz

yessiree, gonna be there...anyone bought tickets for howling bells show at luminaire on 8th dec supporting shortwave set. heard howling bells on radio this morning...amazing. another bella union find....damn them! xx

25 Years of 4AD - Shows galore!

but the last time 4AD released a good record was about 12 years ago..??i am not sure i understand this, is it a way to raise the profile of mountain goats and minatour shock by hooking them up with mighty breeders and occasionally interesting kristin hersh?
