it isn't often...
that you type something worthwhile.
what a ridiculous blanket statement to make about canada. pathetic. i can list 20 bands i've found in the last 3 months that are a-class and a world above.
this is epic. again.
after "rubies" i was hesitant that he could follow with anything so strong...but dan's done it again. this is already one of the best of the year, by far. "my favourite year"...is absolutely brilliant.
i don't get it either
overhyped. there is a plethora of better releases this year.
it's time you all looked under the radar a bit. and new york the best city in the world? come on now...that's pushing it.
over-rated
just as 'dark horse' was.
don't use blogs
much. i scour every available resource (net, magazines, word-of-mouth) etc to find new music. occasionally i come across a blog that helps though.
not a brit thing...
because i'm canadian, and still think he sounds like phil collins.
modeselektor
yes indeed. probably in my top 3, is "happy birthday."
haha...
wow. so true. didn't notice it before, but he does sound like phil collins. and the music itself reminds me a bit of a slower/less energetic sondre lerche. but it's still quite good.
yup.
very good. they don't seem to put out bad songs. true about the instrumentation on this one--not quite as instantly likeable as their other songs melody-wise. but still fantastic.
extremely uninteresting
release. i have to agree with this review: these tracks are extremely underwhelming and just sound old and tired.
to "redsleepingrichey": nah. no backlash here. i've liked a lot of sigur ros, but not everything they do is instant musical elixir either. sounds like your caught in the backlash-backlash...which is just sentimental favouring of their music despite its value? good or bad?
no 10 for me...
i was actually extremely disappointed with this release. from all the work and time that seems to have gone into it--i think they sucked the life out of it. there's no innovation, no novelty and even less detail to it. try mum's new album instead: go go smear the poison ivy. i wouldn't give this more than 6, personally.
epic
this is a seamless balance of classical and electronic. and for me? i DID love it right away. stunning.
very unique...
and quirky in the way only a scandinavian release can be. i give this an 8, because of its refreshing characteristics. track 3: ~warm hearts~ will stick in your head for days...
good review, a 7 for me...
not as essential as their earlier stuff, but still this is an album only Frog Eyes could have put out. fantastic.
i seriously
don't get the rave about these guys. i don't find it relaxing or energetic. in fact i don't find the album does much of anything for me...so it was just background noise. another over-hyped montreal band. there's better canadiana out there.
they may be based in montreal
but all those connected groups (swan lake, wolf parade, sunset rubdown, frog eyes, and handsome furs are originally from British Columbia on the west coast. In other words, they're not french.
a bit boring
to me. nothing new to the table. try the album 'we can do it' by a belgian artist called 'confuse the cat.'
similar, except much better. the singer is exceptional.
very likeable
charming in a way. there's something about the welsh vocals too...all in all really quite lovely.

terribly wrong
and what's with all the cloying bloc party-isms? not every indie band needs to be compared with other acts. take them on their own merits and this is a fantastic recording.
and your review had no discernible point either.
not much sense to it, furthermore.
