this gig was A LOT of fun
totally joyous and hypnotic. Thumb pianos on the reg, polyrhythms on the reg, good times on the reg.
Lovely stuff Chris, as ever a great balance between stuff I've been rinsing (Anthony Shakir) and stuff I need to get check out (.snd)
Absolutely love the Frictionalism compilation which is just totally engrossing and has been on heavy rotation, and that Kuedo ep is really nice too. Listened to his RA mix for the first time this morning which was most agreeable, and has got me psyched for seeing him (and the others) at T-Bar tomorrow. Looking forward to getting the Yellow Swans record too, hopefully it's up there with Psychic Secession which is boss. The snippets I've heard of Abweiching sounded as mind-blowing as I'd expected it to, so roll on pay day so that I can try and get hold of a copy.
Will be grabbing that mix later too.
Good stuff man
Really into people like Biosphere, SOTL, Yellow Swans, Oneohtrix Point Never et cetera, but never really have anything new / interesting to add to the threads.
I really think the way forward is for these sort of specialist columns which are based on the Armchair Dancefloor template i.e. a concise monthly (approximately) consolidated round-ups of what's been going on of late.
Yeah I'd be slightly less terrified of the Berghain dark room if they were all just messing about on office chairs in there!
I think I'll go to Berlin for a bit at some point this summer. A spot of techno tourism around the city, followed by a trip down to the schwarzwald for some nature coupled with a sort of Wolfgang Voigt / Gas pilgrimage..sounds like bliss to me. That Gas concert at the Barbican last year inspired me.
those German office workers certainly know how to cut loose

So that's what's really happening in the Berghain dark room then..
Margins Music: Redux
It's just an incredible album, along with Shackleton's 3EPs I didn't hear a more engrossing record last year. And I'm still listening to both of them repeatedly too. There was a great interview last month on Fact with Blackdown and Grievous about it which can be read here (everyone's probably read this already, but I'll link anyway for posterity):

Looking forward to picking up The Invisible City too.
This finally dropped through my letterbox yesterday
Gave it a play on the way in to work this morning. Pretty damn good for a first listen, the tracks by Moska and Hot City in particular grabbed my fancy. Cracking start to the year. There is just so much great stuff of this ilk coming out at the moment, and I know that I'm barely scratching the surface of it all, nevermind keeping up.
One of those good problems, I suppose.
phenomenal selection of tunes
A few of my all-time favourites in there. Cursed were incredible, as were Breather Resist.
Nice work.
that Monolake album is fantastic
This my favourite column on DiS by a long way, always lots to investigate. Keep up the good work.
I'm really enjoying this record
though I've only listened to it a handful of times so far. It's pretty exhilarating stuff. I think it's perhaps a little bit unfair to criticise it for not being a 'home listening' record, since it's apparent that that isn't what it's inteded to be. If anything I think it's great in that it works as a primer for what the live experience promises.
reset > LA, but its still a good album
I really want to see him live again, shame those recent dates got cancelled.
Jimi you're big pimpin' on here now! Monthly column & mix? That'd be ace..
according to the facebook group
there's about 300 people attending. Upstairs in the old blue last.
Bloody hell.
Really looking forward to the obl gig
hopefully it won't be completely, stupidly busy..though it probably will be
Definitely going to hit that Rustie show
for sure. The Bug gig NPIP put on the other weekend was great too
Young Jeezy's recent record The Recession
is worth a shout I'd say

great stuff as usual, that Actress album is flipping amazing
Also: Konono album is great too (their gig at the Scala the other week was a joy as well), still need to pick up the Marcel Dettmann and Alva Noto records. Too much great music!
