yey!
And Their Place in the Solar Hi-fi System
was actually a great album. 'The Black Hole' less so. I stopped paying attention altogether after that song that included Noddy Holder narration. Still, comparing them to Noah and the Whale is a bit harsh in my opinion.
Can't stand that Noah and the Whale song
after hearing it numerous times on Radio Two over the past few weeks. It kind of reminds me of The Diskettes except much less fun.
I bought the EPs when they were first released
and remember thinking they were rather hit and miss. Aside from a few songs (Rain all Summertime, Say It Ain't So, The Way It Seems) I never really felt the need to go back and re-listen, unliked with the Hefner re-issues and The Secondary Modern album. Shall have to give them another go to see if it clicks this time.
Darren is a complete legend though and his work rate is to be applauded. The Darren and Jack play 'Hefner' shows recently were amongst the best I have been to.
I wonder if
they will play any of the new songs at the Day At The Races fest tomorrow...
Did they not finish with Pull Yourself Together?
I'm not trying to be a smart arse or anything, I genuinely can't remember. Agreed that it was a fantastic show anyway. So many highlights (Christian Girls, Painting and Kissing, Don't Flake Out On Me) and Saturday Looks Good To Me were great as support too.
it's actually The Kabeedies
not Kabeddies. I've always wanted to correct something!
As much as I liked Take Fountain
I do hope the new record sounds more Seamonster-ish. Love that album so much.
I want to be the first one in with the
'4 and a half minutes too long' joke
I think this is easily
my favourite part of DIS. "..sounds shit beyond his years.." Bravo.
I really like
Oliver Easts artwork for this album, and a very good review too. Never really given Elbow much time previously but am intrigued by the 'Grounds for Divorce' single. Shall investigate further.
That photo is actually
the reaction from wearside to the news that Sunderland had signed portly Republic of Ireland international Andy (I'd rather eat than) Reid.
Good Grief
I am sure this has already been said but Seriously WTF! That 'We will live and die in these towns' song IS the retarded cousin of Going Underground. Paul Weller shouldn't just sue, he should time travel Back To The Future style and commit suicide at the age of 10 to prevent this shit from ever happening.
Also, I'd never have to hear the song Wild Wood. This really is a no lose scenario.
Mmmmm
Banana
Hmm
"Sorry Scout: wrong ears" - This could possibly have just been the whole review, no?
Sigh
I have watched that video about 8 times now and I never fail to laugh at the kids terrified arm spasms.
It's very possible that I am going straight to hell but damn it was worth it.
WOW
THAT video is some Blair Witch sh*t right there. The hopeless pushing at the monitor manoeuvre he does is possibly my Favourite Thing Ever.
I have tickets to see Scout Niblett at the Faversham tomorrow. I can't be bothered going.
That is all.

v.v.v excited for this
was hoping for TFC to be the Sunday headliner. Wishes do come true, apparently.
