A) Yes

Yes yes yes yes yes, again yes, yes!

well

Gruff > pretty much anyone

I Told Her On Alderaan

is the song of the year. It's pure 100% brilliant awesomeness squared. Not liking it is akin to not liking sunshine or ice cream. If you don't like it then you should take a long, hard look at yourself in the mirror. And then smash your head into the mirror.

Thanking you.

Husband saves lives?

Pete Kember aka Sonic Boom

Educated guess

They're playing Glasto too

Hopefully they'll be on good form. As yes, that is a cool photo.

Like it

There's a 'release party' video here if you want to listen to the album. Nice change from the usual album streams.

I'd heard the 'sloppy/unfinished' accusations so prepared myself for the worst, but I like it a lot. Certainly no more stripped-back than Title TK.

Small point

Gold status in the US is 500,000, not a million.

Thumbs up

Good read. I'm enjoying the album a lot.

12

Number of tracks on the new album. Also: drummers drumming, months in a year, pence in a shilling, stars on the European flag, number of men to have walked on the moon, average number of ribs in a human body, Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night', and the musical stylings of D12.

Unless you include the bonus CD, in which case it's 17. I don't have any 17 facts.

I see that

Tweexcore isn't on the album. Good.

No Rock & Roll Fun blog

does a good job of dissecting Morrissey's article.

It does

People took Jonze's email to mean the NME sensationalised his interview, but according to Jonze, they toned it down. Both sides seem to be coming out of this quite badly.

Yep

Couldn't disagree with this review more.

The real question is

what do the Pigeon Detectives think about this?

Yeah...

I know what the intention/joke is. My point is... why bother? At least make a better joke.

Seconded

Even by the tenuous quality of most NME.com stories it was flimsy. Reporting it second-hand is just a bit sad, really. I know decent music news dries up this time of year, but some quality control would be nice.

So, two songs at no. 9?

That must be a first.

Possibly

This is very similar to the story about a 'Songs for the Deaf' album playback that was attended by several deaf people expecting some exciting new technology.

Hmmm

I hope ‘It’s My Fault for Being Famous’ isn't another example of Jack White whining about celebrity. I had enough of that on the last album.

Still, White Stripes + Beck is exciting.

Can't say I like it much

Centre column too narrow, text too small, sections poorly defined, blahblahblah. Having to scroll to reach the new reviews could have a negative effect on the number of page views. Seems like a backwards step to me.

Hmm

What is a 'merit' award? An award for generally deserving an award? The 'thanks for trying' award? Maybe they're admitting he deserves an award but know their readers won't vote for him.
I know trying to find logic in the Q Awards is a futile search, but still.

By 'old friends'

I assume you mean Super Furry Animals? 'Cos all those dates are support slots with them.

Nice interview

Good to know there'll be a third album.

CYHSY

The Sword Song is excellent, don't know why it wasn't left on Some Loud Thunder. At least it's finally getting a proper release.

Yeah

this has fewer memorable tunes than the last album, I'm surprised it's getting so many positive reviews.
Shame, since the first three albums are awesome.

Top 20

in the midweek charts...

I thought

the facilities last year were much improved. Still not as good as they should be, admittedly. And every year they keep trying to squeeze more people in than it can take.

As for the line-up... hopefully the Carling stage will be good.

Surely...

...the highest new entries were the Enemy at 8 and Ash at 16?

But...

for Ash, writing radio hits IS natural. It's what they're best at. And this is another great example of that.

It's been renamed...

Twilight Of The Innocents.

Also

The Electric Cinema, who had a good single review on this site just last week. They're not exactly attracting magazine covers like Gallows though.

Umm...

I was all excited at the closeness of that date, but then realised that April 6th is a Friday. The Wichita website has the date listed as June 4th - you got the 4 and the 6 the wrong way round.
