Me too
.
2/10
Unbelievable.
How have I only just found this?
This is brilliant, and so very helpful; I'm doing my dissertation on the Books/postmodernism.
6/10
Max.
Agreed.
-
Are you
drunk, moonwolf?
I like this.
I like you.
Well
they have different fingerprints (among many other things actually, but back to BP...)
Agreed.
Mhmm.
Review type things don't often make me giggle
but this Muse snippet did:
"Think Queen, think Pink Floyd, think glam-rock, think sci-fi kung-fu westerns… Pitchfork hated it."
Hehe. Pitchfork.
Irritatingly
massive production.
I agree
though I'm not a big fan of Think Tank, thus would like to see Graham back.
.
I'd rather have the BBC than any other television/radio consortium, whether or not they stop the festive fifty.
To me it was John Peel, and as much as I'd like to see it continue, John Peel won't, and the festive fifty won't be the festive fifty without him.
Good luck to Dandelion radio with it, though. I've no qualms with them taking it over.
I'm actually
really enjoying this. It took me a while, mind.... but I have had since Friday to consume; thanks postie/norman records.
.
He doesn't look like a knob either.
zealously.
obv.
.
For an overtly 'pop' band, it does the job much better than others and more so, because I quite like it. Therefore it has a little more to it for me.
I'd certainly leave it on if it came on the radio whilst I am washing up, and feel relieved it wasn't the fucking Kooks.
I quite like this song
For a band such as Scissor Sisters, it makes all the right moves, and surprisingly, a little more.
Plus it has a double hand clap. Something Clap Your Hands Say Yeah never had.
.
"fresh, unpredictable and edgy"
I can't wait.
Just out of interest,
does anyone know where Jeremy Warmsley reached with 'I Promise'? That was chart-worthy, right?
.
He also looks like a fatter version of Lex Luthor from SMALLVILLE.
'Smallville' in capitals to emphasise the ironic, or the assumed to be ironic. Or the not-ironic at all. I really don't know anymore.
.
What the_instone said.
.
The Rezillos also have a song called 'Top of the Pops'. Make them play too.
In fact, any band with a slight reference to TotP should be on it. Including the Beatles.
.
I'm quite glad 'Area' isn't on the album. Not enough bands release one off singles anymore.
Op.
My mistake. Nevermind me.
This is the second single, Mr. Marwood.
I do believe you are forgetting 'Area', released in November of last year.
.
It really isn't better than what the above review makes out. Until this album I was fairly indifferent to the Vines, but Vision Valley is just pure uninspired tripe, almost from start to finish.
.
I'm listening to this now. Second proper listening. I kind of agree with you so far. I'm going to have to listen to it all week before I say what I think, though.
Incidentally, I really like the cover. It reminds me of some books I used to read when I was about 5. I've no idea what they were, but they looked just like that.
also, someone
please tell me how to get tickets for the nambucca or i'll be sick
I noticed...
...that. Weird. 'Sintra' can't be a surname, shirley?
.
Isn't calling someone a 'tool' a bad thing? I'm not quite 'down' with a lot of things generally, so I'm rather confused.
.
I love this last review (Colin).
I was planning on reviewing this for a webzine far far away, but now I can't. I hate you.
.
Heathen.
it's actually...
...the fourth track from their new album, if my promo is correct; unless you mean the first track to be taken from their new album...?
Oh, and it hasn't got 'the' in the title. Sorry; me=picky.
I like this song. The Concretes have always been quite interestingly-Swedishly-twee, it's almost their 'thing,' and I don't think song has failed them enough to warrant a 5/10.
I'm equally as horrified by Romeo's appearance, though (on the Concretes album, that is; ahem).
.
I think some of Frank's solo work surpasses the Pixies now and then. 'Frank Black' was an excellent sequel to Trompe Le Monde, and most of the songs from 'Teenager of the Year' are incredibly good pop ditties/monstrosities.
I'm looking forward to FM/RM. Yesss.
,
I've heard that style referred ti as the '360 afro'.
compression.
I 'spose.
I was actually quite hoping they had used a vocoder somewhere.
.
Since Patrick Moore lost his monocle.
Ah, ho!
.
When did the Strokes ever use a vocoder?
.
My tickets are Book'ed.
Ah, oh, hah.
Ahem.
?
What? No mention of the support bands? There's a quarter of a review missing here.
"...this is truly an audience confused. Still a distance away from the UK release of their eponymous debut, the crowd reception of the band's repertoire is that of an act who have already toured the UK extensively - despite this being their first official visit."
I really don't know what you are talking about, Colin. At least 75% of the audience was thoroughly enjoying the CYHSY fellows. Many, MANY people singing along, smiles all around. Loads of 'woo's! and claps, and yeahs. I'd say that's fairly positive reception.
They are a fairly new band. It's their first set of shows in Europe. No fucking pressure, huh?
I can't help but feel a certain bitterness in this review.
