No-Man

Schoolyard Ghosts. A beautiful album. Didn't even get a review. Not a mention. Not a sausage.

And Slope by Steve Jansen.

And a lot of the stuff that's been raved about (Foals, Bon Iver) is average at best, if not downright pants.

A bit harsh

But yes, buy the Sun Kil Moon if you've only got enough cash for one album.

If you've got enough for two, get No-Man too.

If you're loaded, get Fleet Foxes. :)

Yeah. Bloody awful

It was at the time of "Deserter's Songs" and "Soft Bulletin". The Rev played everything too fast and it all got very dull.

The Mrs and I came to the conclusion that Donahue was trying to impress his old boss.

And failed. Epically.

Sigh.....

Shame they're a bit pants these days. The only live show I've ever walked out of was Mercury Rev.

(didn't help them that the support band was The Flaming Lips)

Hype

There's been so much pushing of this band lately. They're great, but not "GREAT!!!!!!!". I'd give it a 9/10, but this year's 10/10's for me this year are Sun Kil Moon's "April" and No-Man's "Schoolyard Ghosts"

SKM got a belated review and No-Man....nary a mention. :(

And Sun Giant is better than the album simply because it's got "Mykonos" on it.

I still maintain

that the only decent thing Bobby Gillespie ever did was play the drums for The Jesus And Mary Chain

Am I alone

In thinking Nirvana weren't actually that good?

Sounds Like

John Barry producing a long lost La's album. I like it a lot.

Much better than the other stuff these two come up with.

Oh..

Jesus.

These two talentless arses are writing a musical? A musical? That least appealing artform?

I'm going to stick my fingers in my ears now and go "nananana can't HEAR you!" until they go away forever.

Can somebody let me know when that happens?
