Really lame angle to start the review
Admittedly I've yet to hear this, but I love the first album, and loved it long before I knew what the lead singer looked like
Also
That's a terrible sleeve
I have no idea
But I'm going to take a stab at 13
I never had high hopes for this - remix albums are never really that great
Except for M.A.N.D.Y's, which is the tits
I signed up yesterday
Predictably, I'm on twitter.com/dove_from_above
This 'female revolution' things is already tiresome
Didn't we have exactly the same thing two years ago, with Lily Allen, Kate Nash, Laura Marling and Sandi Thom? That didn't exactly prevent a torrent of regurgitated, T4 on the Beach friendly, indie-by-numbers shite from soundtracking the past twelve months
Cynicism aside, Little Boots looks quite cool from the little I've heard. Anything other than Lady GaGa is alright by me
Just got tickets for the February date
woop woop, dat's the sound of the email confirmation
I never understand why people buy tickets from sites like this
I mean, a lot of the time it might be a mum getting as a present for their kid or whatever. But I heard stories in the summer from friends or friends of friends about people my age (23) ordering festival tickets from random sites and then the site going under. Surely the majority of people are a bit more savvy than that? Or is it just that because festivals are so fashionable at the moment, hoardes of people who wouldn't otherwise be buying tickets for them suddenly are?
I was about to say "noooooooooooooo!"
But then I realised that anything James Murphy does will be awesome. So as long as he doesn't stop, there's no reason to panic
Still, the thought of no new LCD Soundsystem material does make me a little sad :(
Smart move, DiS
More of this kind of thing pls
I heard a track from this on 120 Minutes last night
I don't have any of his albums, but I think I might have to get this and work my way backwards
Potentially, this sounds good
Thing is, she's been getting progressively worse with each album, so to hold out much hope would probably be unwise
2.0 was where I came in
3.0 looks so much... cleaner
Good work though
Without having heard the album, I have absolutely no doubt in my mind
that this review is spot on. Shockingly, there's been a few threads pop up on the music board in support of In This City
Awful band
That DJ Mujava tune is like, sooo hot right now
Every compilation or mix I hear at the moment seems to have that on it. To be fair though, it is a tune
I do like this album
But there's still too much filler for my liking. If you combined the best bits from this and the first album, then you'd have something pretty special
How is The End a 'super club'?
It's fucking tiny compared to Fabric, Turnmills etc. You penis
It's not the actual dome
It's Fabric's new sister venue there, 'matter', which has a capacity of about 2,500
£180?
Fucking hell
aww man, this sucks
Why's every club closing down? I'm going to the End in a few weeks for Boys Noize at Bugged Out. I hate goodbyes :'(
Interesting...
I've always worked under the impression that zed = American bastardisation. Or should that be bastardization?
Also, 'organizing' with a z?
I want a job too
A)
I want that t-shirt
Was anybody, anywhere,
honestly expecting this to be anything other than average? The Verve are the epitomy of a 90s band. Let's leave them there, please
<3 Cut Copy
Bright Like Neon Love was a great album as it was, but I never expected them to surpass themselves quite so easily with the new one
Didn't they do a 'UK headine show' not that long ago, at the Scala though? I know this because I went. Very good it was too. Saying that, it was probably about four months ago, maybe more. Does that count as 'eons'?
What I want to know is
Why does this news story get a full stop in the headline, whereas others don't?
Line-up so far looks good
But I can't stand these new shiny soulless venues. I saw Junior Boys at the O2 and it was horrible
The thing about Bloc Party
is that they just seem so transparent to me. Fair play for trying to 'move their sound on', but you just know that's been a deliberate, planned out move. It's not like they've organically developed their sound. I always get the impression that there's so much self importance there. The pretentious lyrics are the clearest indicator of that
Yep
I posted that before they had though
I've given this a couple of goes
And I think it's a bit dull. They're probably trying to move their DJ sets on from the electro tomfoolery that was big last year, but I'm not sure they've properly done it yet
Eleven tracks
really isn't enough for this kind of compilation
Nice
13.30 - Howling Bells
14.45 - Wild Beasts
16.00 - Modeselektor (so excited about this)
17.00 - Of Montreal
17.30 - Mae Shi
18.15 - Mystery Jets
19.00 - James Holden
20.30 - The Field
21.30 - One out of Richie Hawtin, Simian Mobile Disco and Foals
Minimal clashes!
Burial is a he
I thought this was common knowledge now? It says so in pretty much all of his interviews, and I'm guessing you'd be able to tell if you were talking to a woman
Also, I really hope he doesn't win. He hates and avoids the limelight as it is, so I can't imagine a Banksy-esque tabloid frenzy doing him any favours
"perhaps proving that the City of Angels has learnt from past quakes and improved the quality of bui
lol
Don't the Avalanches use a fair amount of samples too?
Like, a ridiculous amount?
If the Last Shadow Puppets win
it will literally be the most boring thing ever
Literally
^ this
Also, what were the problems supposed to be anyway? Just traffic issues?
Which wouldn't have happened, incidentally,
if the A303 hadn't have been closed on the Wednesday prior to Glastonbury this year. Didn't anybody else have this? Madness. Thank fuck for SatNav/scary country lanes
We almost crashed into a tractor this year
Down some country lane, it had pulled out to let us through (or so we thought). We went to go round it, but due to my mate's 206 being laden with all manner of crap, we couldn't pick up much pace
Then the tractor pulled back out in front of us. Due to the weight of the car, the brakes were shot so my mate had to just keep going wider hoping we'd get past it. We didn't, and ended up in a ditch. Unscathed though, so it wasn't all bad
