I understand their frustration at people just standing there and watching them, but then they hit upon something that I was hoping they'd elaborate on further:

What do Autechre actually do in their live performance?

How much of their performance is pre-recorded and how much is live manipulation?

There's a bit of an argument that says, "what's the point of any of it being 'live' if the audience are not shown or given any context to what is actually happening in their performance?"

In other words, why should Autechre bother doing anything other than play some pre-made mp3s off their laptops, when not one member of the audience is going to know any better anyway?

What do the audience gain from Autechre playing 'live'? And what do Autechre gain from hiding their performance from the audience?
