First time in quite a while I've actually been excited about ITC.
Haven't really bothered with it since 2005 but this year's line up is easily one of the strongest they've had.
It's shaping up to be a great few days - and it's my birthday on the 5th!
It's all about H.P. Baxter from Scooter though...
Awesome
I didn't realise they were playing Preston.
I'll be doing both that and the Brainwash date in that case then.
They were unbelievable at Leeds Festival. Probably the best band I saw on the BBC Introducing Stage along with That Fucking Tank and Eureka Machines.
Fair point...
And yeah, the festival is indeed pretty spectacular - especially for the price!
Already got my weekend ticket sorted. Just need to sort out somewhere to crash for 2 nights now!
I know the original story about the "split" was posted on here ages ago...
...but surely this is like REALLY old news too?
I mean the Brainwash show was actually confirmed on the same day they announced they were taking a break :S
It was pretty much the same at Leeds too...
...awesome sound on the Friday for Metallica but absolutely turd for pretty much the rest of the weekend.
Ruined any enjoyment I would have had for Dizzee and made 3 of us give up during the Killers and walk down to the Manics instead (best decision we could have made).
Argh damn!
The first Truck announcement that's made me question my decision to do Latitude for the first time this year :(
This will be my first year at Latitude...
...and I actually cannot wait.
The lineup is already far better than I was anticipating.
But if Mars Volta do indeed clash with Sigur Ros like all the rumours suggest, I'm going to have to make some difficult decisions :|
Manchester please
Much obliged.
R.EM.
"ropey for the last fifteen years or more"?
I must have missed that memo.
:O
I just nearly jumped out of my chair at work, thus making it obvious I'm not actually doing any work.
Manchester here I come :D
Best DiS "News" story of 2008.
Is it wrong to wish death on somebody? :S
^^^
They did a similar thing to that on the Daisies tour when they played the Academy in Manchester. Like 3 or 4 encores, with the last one after the houselights had come up and everything had started to be packed away. The lucky few that were still elft in the building all just surged towards the front and threw all the seats out of the way.
When E gets it right, the Eels live experience is incredible...
I dunno...
...I saw them both times they came over to the UK for the Daisies tour (at the Academy and Palace Theatre in Manchester) and still consider both of those shows to be two of the best gigs I've ever been to. Although admittedly, subsequently they haven't been able to match the magic of those shows.
I guess it's down to what lineup E decides to bring over really.
Eels Orchestra FTW.
I presume they've forgotten that Dani California...
...was exposed as a Tom Petty rip off but he didn't bother to sue because he's not a twat.
What vile human beings they have become...
I think it sounds pretty awesome.
I wasn't too sure about the direction of the new material after the gig in Leeds where they previewed quite a bit of it, but after hearing clips of the recorded stuff, I have every faith I'm not going to be let down.
Yep...
they've replaced one short arse with another. It'll be Kelly Jones next.
I bought the album on iTunes ealrier tonight...
...after getting more than slightly irritated over not being able to find it in the shops, and I have to concur, that Fran Rodgers track is beautiful. The You Slut! and Vessels tracks are also pretty special.
I've been a Modest Mouse fan...
...for years now and have seen them 4 times pre-Johnny Marr.
However, the best I've ever seen them by far was the first time I saw them with Marr at the Ritz in Manchester a couple of months ago.
And I've never been the biggest Smiths fan either.
Bottom line is live, they're way better now than they ever were in the past...
Don't listen to him...
...I've my ears still haven't recovered after hearing the atrocity that is the new Scouting For Girls single.
Almost made me crash my car :|
*Compilation
Grr
It's the Unsigned Stage...
that they have at Leeds. One of the main reasons why the Leeds Festival is better than Reading - especially considering it hosted the highlight of my entire festival last year in the form of Napoleon IIIrd!
Knob
Jockey.
God I HATE The Enemy.
This sounds amazing.
Still a blatant lack of a Manchester date though :@
Leeds it is.
*yawn*
Boring boring boring.
It'll be massive.
And worst album title of the year?
The Housemartins
Happy Hour
All I'd like to know is...
...who the HELL wrote their bio?
Agreed...
...there is some good stuff.
But it still doesn't excuse the fact that the good:shit ratio is still about 1:100.
Makes me glad...
...I'm off to the Dad Rock festival at Hyde Park instead.
Definitely one of my favourite albums of 2007...
...I highly recommend everybody buy a copy.
And if you don't like it...
Well I'm sure that won't happen :D
Might be pretty tame on record...
...but they definitely live up to their name in a live environment.
Their Vacuum Irony EP was a lot better than this too.
Last weeks NME review...
...accused Foals off ripping off Klaxons (words really do fail me).
The review on Planet Sound at the moment describes them as touted as the UK answer to Arcade Fire :S
Have I been listening to the wrong song for the past couple of months?
Great song and everything.
Just...
Eh?
I love Bilge Pump...
...one of the greatest drummers I've ever seen.
However...
Where the hell is Manchester Bowling Green?!
And why does it have to clash with bis at Satans Hollow? :|
Bought this album last week...
...only having chance to listen to it right now.
And my God :O
It's definitely the best album I've heard of 2007 so far.
Completely in awe at the speed and technicality of the musicianship. Seeing this live will be something else.
And incidentally I thought the vocals sound very Corgan-esque in parts.
DTTR: Leeds...
...was the first compilation.
Very limited hand written CDR jobby. Never got a wide scale release.
You can occasionally find copies on eBay in excess of 50 quid.
Haha ace gig...
...Right about it being way over capacity too!
I thought I saw Chris from Editors lurking about but then thought "nah" and put it down to the booze and mass dehydration.
How wrong I was...
...
"I've always had a problem with Jarvis' stance on that, I found it really disturbing when he pulled his pants down in front of Michael Jackson, that just seemed totally wrong".
I might be mistaken here but I can't remember any pants ever being pulled down...
Please get your facts correct next time Damon.
I got my copy of the first album...
...from Vinyl Exchange in Manchester.
The card described them as a cross between The Verve and Converge.
After reading that I just HAD to investigate!
I went to the Night & Day show...
...last night.
The amount of people there solely for the Pigeon Detectives and who left straight after them was embarrassing :(
Also in that last NME interview...
...she pretty much said she could understand why kids in America go into schools and shoot other kids.
I couldn't believe what I was reading.
She's a complete tit.
Hahahaha...
...ace.
Well...
...they may've gone in a different direction to Thursday but after hearing The Black Parade, I think we can safely agree MCR HAVE extended and developed their sound over three albums!
Apparently the Longcut are supporting...
...since they're playing here in Blackpool I might actually go and leave straight after them.
"like ventriloquists' music"?...
...what the hell does that even mean?!
They sing with their mouths closed? :S
Knob.
Shoot The Runner has to be the worst single I've heard this year. Welcome To The Black Parade pisses on it from a great height.
Gerard's Cancer thing made me laugh though.
I wonder if it's as dark as Diane by Husker Du.
Hmmmmm...
I LOVE MCR :D
Great song...
...but I don't think it has as much longevity as Signal Noise.
I Will Meditate... however is amazing.
I still believe SYEAYBIF have much more potential than their recorded output so far though. I think this potential is starting to show itself more in their live performances with the addition of extra drums and a keyboard!
They were awesome at their single launch in Leeds last week.
