i had a dream the other night
where I went to the Silver Rocket all-dayer and the bill read as follows:
3hos
Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow playing Chemical Brothers covers on an accordian
Ice Cube.
I think Silver Rocket 200 should endeavour to fulfil my weirdo nightramblings...
nice article
he comes across as rather articulate and thoughtful, I say. Moreso than a lot of people who criticise him do, at the very least...
Such a shame that nothing from Captian made it...
Self Healer is such a blisteringly awesome song - they could've stopped right there and I'd have been happy. Ish...
anyone else getting a sort of Nancy from Holloaks
meets Courtney Love vibe off the lead singer?
this is the worst piece of writing I've read on this site for quite a while
it's so overstuffed with pointless sarcasm and blistering cynicism that all semblance of purpose and point is lost.
I doubt this article really helped the DiS cause in it's quest to buy into the awards system it so very clearly disdains. Or loves, dependent on whether it's been nominated or not...
"sci-fi charity"???
Is that what the kids are calling their coke dealer these days??
This Ain't Vegas at Barden's, eh?
Freakin awesome.
oh, and soundtrack the reading
with the 20 years of Dischord box set and a copy of the Bad Brains ROIR cassette.
Happy days...
For a fabulous history of Bad Brains and the entire DC scene
you can't go wrong with "Dance of Days" - fucking fantastic book.
Great interview this - definitely the best thing I've read on DiS in aaaaages. Really well written and well-informed, although the story of Bad Brains fills books on it's own.
On the homosexuality issue, I'd have a a listen to Millions of Dead Cops' "Pay to Cum Along" for a pretty damn good riposte to HR's bigotted leanings...
is that the royal "we" then?
maybe forming your own opinion of them might be best?
or would you prefer to see what everyone else thinks and then follow or flee from the herd.
whatever, I prefer this track to Golden Skans, but Atlantis to Interzone and Magick piss all over both of them.
So long as they keep things interesting, I think Klaxons will survive this year, at least...
ooh, spooky
Bono bashing from beyond the grave...
put it away
put it away
put it away now...
yesssssssss
I found my Jehu cd the other day, I've been looking for it for about a year.
blinding.
6ft leggy blondes in saunas
or deep-fried mars bars and rab c nesbitt?
Such a tough choice...
and the best name ever?
Mike?
see that button at the top?
the one which says "Post User Review"
????
Get on it - it'd be nice to see if anyone can do better. Kev's review is very well written, in my opinion, and whilst I personally couldn't give two shits for Jamie T, it's nice to read someone writing eloquently about something which they so obviously believe in.
So in short - don't like what you read? Write your own review. Isn't that what this site is supposed to be about anyways?
agreed
that's the best insult I've heard in a long long while.
teehee
methinks the automatic have been updating wikipedia
go check the Horrors entry...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Horrors
the duloks are also playing
at Bubblegum in Deptford on Friday 19th Jan.
It's a housecat records night - Mac 3000 dj-ing, along with the first ever show for my new band...
Rob??!!
when the fuck did you start reviewing for this lot then?
great list
considering it was all reader-voted and whatnot, it's one in the eye for anyone claiming this site ain't diverse enough...
ooh, I dug out my Black Eyes Cd
this morning and it made me smile like a cheshire cat. Days go so much better with Black Eyes...
i.can't.fucking.wait.
over.and.out.
Jarvis doing The Lion and Albert...
that will be damn superb. My mum used to tell me that story when I was little, in a similar northern drawl...
me too!
I hate the game
it's comments like that
which make DiS the most read independent music site in Europe, don't ya know...
aye
but not as much for the sale of bullet proof vests...
whats really made me smile
about these lists is the contrast between the well-written, intelligent and meaningful comments written by the likes of the Redjetson boys, steve ansell and simon reynolds, compared to the minimal one-liners or even no-liners as offered by McGee and those fat pricks from leeds...
I know the opinions I'm likely to value more. Tis a shame the general record buying public can't always make these distinctions...
I just sexed in my pants.
Any news on supports yet?
Oh, I dunno, I have a soft spot
for Different damage, although I don't think it's as consistently good as Power.
Bottom line is, if they'd made another record, it would have been a blinder...
hear hear my friend!
nail. head. hit. and not because of the way the nail was dressed, either...
a soggy biscuit?
maybe?
Power, then?
or Different Damage?
Not going to really argue with the inclusion
of most of those records (with the exception of MBICR) and it's nice to see Q and not U so high (especially No Kill.., a criminally underrated record) but I can't grasp why Bloc Party are up so high, when there are bands below them on the list who do everything that BP do, only much much better...
why haven't they just saved the cash
and got one of their overweight, aging, alcoholic fans to star? Fuck knows there are enough of the morons kicking about these isles...
this song is stuck in my brain
soooo badly today. Definitely one of the best tracks on the album and fully deserving of its 9.
I have never and probably will never listen to Jamie T.
However, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Nice one!
nah, not you!
It were directed at Mainy.
Joe Strummer was a privately schooled boy as well...
It means nothing. If you don't like the Horrors, write "I don't like the Horrors." Simple.
and tell me
why should your opinion on "taste" be of any value to us, when you have the Pixies rated 4/10 and At the Drive In rated 5/10?
probably? PROBABLY?
ANYTHING deserves number one spot ahead of Razorlight. C'mon, I mean, really...
anyways, its a good song, in its way. I'd never listen to it, but I'd much rather this filled the ears of the kids than any volume of glossy shite R&B or turgid arrogant "indie" courtesy of borrell and his walking band of cancer.
Good review, bravo.
yeah, me neither, but it doesn't deserve to be 40-odd places
higher than the Mars Volta. Both those records were phenomenal, and to (potentially) put one so much higher than the other seems bizarre.
Now theres something I weren't expecting...
Mars Volta only at 62, and no ATD-I yet?
I'm pretty sure that Relationship of Command is gunna make this list, but the more places that seperate it from De-loused.., the more confused I'm gunna be.
ha ha! too true!
I can just imagine Billy Joe Armstrong, back in those early 90s, Gilman Street, Smoothed out Slappy Hours days, sitting on a stoop, drinking beer, dreaming about working with Bono...

remind me why
it matters one flying fuck where they were educated?
Good article, mind - just as I enjoyed Hadouken thoroughly justifying themselves, I think the Horrors come across rather well.
It's not a bands fault that the public at large have zero imagination and creativity vacuums, after all...
