never married...
pretty much agree with this but elizabeth fraser and guthie never were married. this album was bassist simon raymonde's first recording with the band too and i think the sound changed from the early siouxsie-influenced records...
total
shit....noel fielding is just legs and hair and pointy boots....same as russell brand...and equally unfunny....a waste of time and money
tropical
they tune their guitars up real high so they sound hawaiian. this is in some degrees 'tropical'...it aint too difficult.
hawaiian punk dont sound as good as tropical punk, but end of day, theyre just awesome, end of.
UK release
hey just heard, the very fab bella union will release digitally on august 4th, cd and vinyl a bit later and a tour is being sorted out right now for later in the year too...so so so excited
yeah..
and it was no 2 on the amazon chart only behind Coldplay. Despite the cynicism displayed on dis, it is so heartening to see an independent release come out of nowhere to break the monopoly of the shit music there is always in the top 20 of the album chart. It shows it's still possible for indies when labels like Bella Union can sell 20,000 in a week...
"four of the capital's best music venues"
??? that's total shit and you know it...
this site has become quite dull...
but i'll be patient...! fleet foxes and wild beasts...
bella union, full time hobby and stolen all best
with probably all my fave bands spread around these 3 labels its hard to pick one, and the weirdest thing is i didnt realise till just now that they're mostly all on these 3!! with dirty three, explosions in the sky, midlake, fleet foxes, the acorn, abe vigoda, fionn regan, beach house all on the one label, i would have to plump for bella union, with the younger full time hobby and stolen as talented offspring!

its all about money..
the mercury prize is an utter sham, pretending to be all holy and above-board but it isn't/ it's only one step along from an ant and dec phone-in...they'll tell you otherwise but its all about money with tokenism thrown in to sustain a modicum of credibility. Lists are generally quite silly and this one is no different. i mean how can radiohead not have won it, and how can the klaxons have won it...and why would the young knives even be on a shortlist? i am afraid its like the old public school thing of jobs for the boys..they should have an equivalent of the PFA award. Musicians and record labels should vote for their favourite band, not a bunch of dj's and journalists...we get their stupid prejudices and editorial guff shoved down our throats 365 anyway, we dont need it any more...
