An American version of editors
Really?? Editors should be so lucky!!
No
But too much of it sounds like the shite Primal Scream sledge out when they're on come down mode.
Admittedly, it's not awful but it's nae a patch on Bow Down..
^ you think?
I'm nae digging it at all. I get the shoegazeyness but it lacks any bite. Bit disappointing me thinks.
not wanting to be to downbeat
but have you seen who is scheduled to play there? Dirty Pretty Things and Travis are fucking "highlights". Whoever is running the show would do well to actually use their finger and find a pulse or i give the Picture House a few months tops.
They played Edinburgh
last year. last time i looked that wasn't in Glasgow.
10 years since Bring It On?
Fuck I'm old
i doubt it's bias...
i would say the majority of promos sent to dis are from uk based artists so, law-of-averge-wise, this higher proportion is going to generate a greater number of positive UK band reviews compared to, say, bands from the States.
Bx
PS Mailing you something, like now already!
Vanishing Point & XTRMNTR
were both ridiculously good and their live shows during that time were fucking phenomenal.
Should have called it a day after that though.
really?
elaborate.
^
This = good.
Thanks daryn!
B
.
He must have been a pleasure to interview. Cracking read Mike.
.
does 3/5 mean you didnt like it ally??
eek!
good spot. spellcheck never got that one then.
fixed up now, ta. bx
Bravo
You have mad skillz Mister Kerr!
i shoulda stayed in the states a wee bit longer.
Tindersticks Review..
my bad not Mike's. i was on holiday and had nae computer. words done now though. bx
changed...
must have been a slip of the finger.
im sure i gave it
2/10. in fact im pretty sure i did.
.
it's our lovely snapper loraine ross' shots. not sure if she's put it up on her flckr site yet but if you click on her name i think her profile will point you in the right direction. Bx
A new nadir
for Scottish festivals then. Proper baws.
what a great review.
Rubies was truly magnificent and this comes pretty darn close to surpassing it
Christ
The guru of the Scottish music scene Geoff Ellis has truly proved himself with this line up. Proper bobbins.
^
Have you stolen my list?!!
Class prejudices?
Elaborate...
Looks good.
Why exactly did they cancel their glasgow gig though?
Douchebag?
And I'm the ten year old trying to impress adults...
You're right.
That's the way forward.
Burn the reviewer.
Muppets reference.
Yes indeed.
£10.00
Broken Records.
Game on.
the last BR gig
we covered was in october or november as far as im aware when BR were practically unknown outside the central belt(unless you can prove me wrong here?)They merit another review because people are talking about then now, and in people i mean folk outwith the scottish music scene
there was one other band...but it was a 15 min set. my call yeah, but i didnt think a review would do them justice because of this
what's the deal with all the capitals by the way ally?
Gerry Mitchell & Little Sparta - The Ragged Garden
is the business if you like hearing us morbid scotsies whinging away on a cold winter night. Can understand why it's not in this list though, it's nae for everyone.
i would assume so..
But you might get lucky. Just wear big shoes and cake the make up on - seems to work for half the under age gals on george st at the weekends!
okay...get on one
i'll put it on my expenses!!!
Tonight
The Caves, Edinburgh. 10pm. Headlining Fresh Air party. Come come it will be rather fucking great.
Bx
The Stone Roses did it for me
Though I'm not sure quite where i stand on that that now - my tastes tend to sway towards vocalists who can actually hit notes and guitarists who aren't obsessed with led 'cunting' zeppelin. But fucking hell, to hear Reni rip open the skins during Waterfall still sends shivers down my spine. Genius, genius drummer - shame about The Rub though.
Sadly...
..you're right. January aint a good time for gigs but, still, the attendance was pitiful considering it was Jo-Fo and also promoted by the rather lovely fellas from Spitfires. I just hope turn outs like that don't stop them from continuing to do the good work their doing in attracting v. good bands to these parts
Aye.
Instead of using my vocabulary to review an articulate and intelligent record maybe I would have been better spending my time scouring a thesaurus to come up with snidey remarks like yours.B
Shite.
Good spot [hangs head in shame]. Apparently, accuracy is the prerequisite of a good journalist - bugger.
Profile/article updated accordingly. B
That might explain why..
they're not doing any Scottish gigs on the tour, i guess
Whatever could you mean?
I see no mention of Leon coming from Glasgow! ;)
Happy New Year n'aw that to you too mate. B
this lot
are the best band in this ol' town.
the whole album?
bugger. re-write ahoy then.
Forts
is rather fantastic. good news.
That was 3 things
and according to the press release it's out today.
Duly noted.
and edited. that was sloppy of me, sorry. honestly i read this about 10 times before submitting! bx
Noooooo...Battles >!!! > LCD
but this is nae half bad.
i need to be more controversial eh? bx
aye maybe..
..but i reckon it's more of a question of style. some of the places i scribe for prefer it to be 'is' others prefer 'are'. like you say, each to their own.
yes you. no.
ysp!wsd! is one band = singular = is.
wrong
..
were they not
going to fuck off after Generatation Terrorists sold one million copies? surely it's done this by now?

an interview and £15 for a wasted trip to Glasgow.
