really DiS would be advised to use reviewers who know at least something about the context of the record they're supposed to be writing about.
I just don't think you need to be apologetic about liking something!
the writer seems desperate to anticipate criticism of the band and imply that people who don't like the album are borderline retarded, which comes off as kind of pathetic.
I do want to hear this though.
had nothing to do with the Incas. I think you mean the Aztecs.
Sorry, had to point that out.
I don't think his new one is all that actually, but my opinion might change
I'm quite excited about this - a festival where I might actually enjoy the music!
However the review makes my skin crawl. It reeks of self important, mildly racist, inverse snobbery. Quite the worst thing I've actually bothered reading from beginning to end for some time.
she's the sister of one of my best friends from uni. I never realised how big she'd got. She is really good though.
Elizabeth isn't her surname, btw.
I can almost forgive him. One of my bottom five eating experiences of all time.
Not really though, if it's true.
confusing Eugene McGuinness with Eugene Robinson. It didn't make any sense.
might actually be true. Gang Gang Dance would probably have become my favourite band.
"Irrelevant"? What does that even mean?
Shai Hulud and Gallows in the same sentence!?
Shai Hulud were actually good. Gallows are utterly pointless.
he isn't. Miss Machine was dogshit.
Again, I just sampled this record, just in case I'd got it wrong on the many previous occasions I've heard them but no, they are still one of the most staggeringly appalling bands I can think of.
I don't generally like to make specific digs at reviews, but: "among the most extreme-sounding outfits in this land". What?!
Let me state this once more: TRENCHER. ARE. NOT. A. GRINDCORE. BAND. Unless My Chemical Romance are now defined as hardcore.
as the godfathers of emo? Do please learn what you're talking about.
Til I saw this on the Underworld website last week. I found the album again and they were better than I remembered! I might have to go to this.
I guess the ones I've listened to most:
Buried Inside - Suspect Symmetry
Circle Takes the Square - As the Roots Undo
Eden Maine - To You the First Star
Isis - Oceanic
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow
though BM bands that play live are liek too untrve for words
admittedly I haven't seen them live but I thought the new album was cack.
its not as immediate as the last one
I'm going to read a chapter of that review every night before I go to bed this week.
Its Pink wearing a wig. Swear to god.
a toned Ricky Gervais
Johnny Truant. They seem to think they are so much better than they are. Their songs are meandering and frustrating and in any case when performing the rest of the band are drowned out by the vocalist's planet-sized ego.
Canada are so welcome to them.
following me!! down!! :P
he he he he he.
the shitness of the Doors is so true its practically one of the ten commandments.
I would have been here, had it not been for tiredness/poverty of girlfriend :(
he is fucking rubbish. Like Dashboard Confessional with bleepy bits. And he has a stupid face.
For some reason his popularity and apparent acceptability in indie circles makes me angry.
Get Cape, Drop Cape, Die
Trencher are totally overrated
with looking like Shaggy from Scooby Doo. I know.
new album sounds about as much like Cave-In or Isis as my flatmate does singing in the shower makes me distrust this review but I've heard this was good from elsewhere.
Hmmm. Just hmmm.
focusing on their strengths I'd say. Who wants Tetsuya Fukagawa being all quiet and whispery? Its all too nice.
Please marry me. I love Eden Maine like they were my own children.
But are there going to be any advance tickets? Cos I can't miss this you understand.
this isn't the band from the Wicker Man OST covering Crowded House? Boring.
can't wait for more Shins.
"Anyone know any good cures for insomnia?"
is a cunt.
just one Pink to make a novelty canoe
leave emo alone for once. The repeated dismissal of a whole genre is getting kind of old.
