I'm not sure I'd like it or agree
but reading 1800 words about Sunset Rubdown would be most welcome!
The review is very interesting btw
i agree
only have his first but it's so friggin dull...
This
is a complete waste of everyone's time. 12 fucking paragraphs? You do realise this will sell around 12 copies in Britain?
If The NME is the Sun then DIS is the Daily Mail. Can someone please recommend another decent music website?
Saying late of the pier are rubbish
is ludicrous.
How would this not be news?
This really is news for once.
Yeah of course
they were picked on because they looked different. Anyone for any reason can be picked on, thats pretty much the point of the thing. But it's the idea that the attackers actually had something against goths, a personal vendetta that i find uncomfortable. They probably thought they look silly, hell I think goths look silly, hence why the person was singled out. But that is so a million billion miles away from attacking someone, let alone killing them, that it's a completely different issue.
Why people (i.e. every single one of us) discriminate and why a fifteen year old can build up enough venom inside themselves to hurt another person, are not the same.
And in terms of the issue of discrimination towards goths, or indie kids or whatever, you haven't exactly been forced into slavery yet have you? Just because you don't hit them doesn't make the class based, snobbish remarks i've been reading any better. This threads self-pitying is disgusting. Go off a find some real fucking problems to moan about.
obviously this is a music site so there
has to be a music angle, but i find this whole thread totally pointless. I haven't read about the story but i would be highly surprised if those kids killed the women because she was an emo. Did they actually make a concious group decision that becuase this person wears a type of clothes they should not be alive? Surely not.
This story should be filed next ones about men who are killed in happy slaps attacks or fathers complaining about vandalism to their property who are murdered. There is a very real and increasing lack of respect fuelled by societal disenfrancment and fear and reading about pathetic little sub genres that will be non-existent the second some other new fasion arrives is frankly fucking insulting.
It was one of the great ironies I thought when new rave fashion appeared, all these kids getting abuse from 'hoodies' where in fact wearing hoodies themselves. Fashion trends are not the issue folks.
Naaah
This is a good album, it's fun, it's pop and the lyrics are clever, (You don’t believe in monogamy, Im not jealous, scarlett will marry me). There isn't an in joke as such, there not pretending to be teenagers, most of the songs are about adults in relasionships (the accountant from gap in Sunset Beach, Love No & French Kiss generally), told with a little bit of wit.
they give me the same
uneasiness the killers did when they first came out
so yeah i think i hate this band too
"We're not doing any festivals this summer,"
"We're doing one in Brazil,"
Isn't point A kind of lost with point B?
I like menomena and all
but i saw them in liverpool and they were appaling, i've never been more dispointed by a gig. Maybe it was a one off?
So
you to stay in hotels for this right? Does that detract from the festival-ness of it? I'm worried it would be like those ones in London, walking around Hyde Park doesn't have the same appeal as the field type events like Glasto, Reading etc.
Although, barcelona isn't exactly london i guess.
This song is
evil.
Such a shame considering how ace Cut Off Your Hands name is.
he's got a look
that's why you don't like him
I've liked
this song for a while now... but I think there's some serious over estimating of its potential impact here. I'm guessing it'll be just a little too obvious to be successful, reminds me of that animator song by pull tiger tail - a little too easy to please.
Go Smezzer!
If Calvin Harris was french or if he had some interesting back story involving rebelling against a mormon upbring in Uganda, DiS would LOVE him.
You might not think Acceptable in the 80's is a very good example of commercial dance pop, but I have a feeling you people think DISCO by Justice isn't commercial dance pop at all.
