He's Simple, He's Dumb, He' The Pilot
Great interview so far, although it definitely sounds as if there's something more personal behind the dissolution that hasn't fully come out yet.
I'm not sure if I'm disappointed or relieved
That you didn't deliver a lengthy feminist treatise on the Kid Cudi video. But seeing as you didn't, how come the Lipster need to be credited for a fairly standard (and not badly written) singles review column?
I know you admit it hasn't exactly been a banner year for music
But for you to not even mention the Walkmen - even in the 'what, have we missed x.. well suck it!' bit at the bottom - is incredibly surprising. And yes, The Week That Was too.
PS - I still don't understand your love for Cut Copy - the vocals are so weak - if you're going to ape the Human League at least do it properly!
PPS - THE STILLS FOR FUCK'S SAKE.
I hate to be achingly fashionable
but seriously, if you can actually to listen to this album three times without falling asleep or changing to something more interesting you deserve a prize all of your own.
And I like Elbow. Asleep in the Back would have been a good winner. But I guess M People were a better bet back then eh?
Not really
It's very close to Euston.
I couldn't help
but read that as Keith Allen...
Yeah
At Walmart!
Mr CD died too
but this is much worse, I try and buy all my new releases there! Berwick Street is losing it's record stores too fast.
Agreed on Pure Groove as well - it just isn't going to last in the middle of nowhere stocking only 100 CDs.
Hmmm Brian Jonestown Massacre
or REM. Foolish is just about right!
Wild Beasts please, but
I think Portishead actually have a really good chance unless it is meant to be for new music (nah, M People won it)...
Great review
with a fairly well choreographed twist.
Still going through the album the first couple of times, but it seems like it's back to the slightly darker themes of the second record - which I'm all in favour of.
Not sure about the track with the Bon Jovi guitar solo on it though...
Haha it looks like fan fiction anime porn
Except for the creepy bits at the top. But fingers crossed the music will be ok.
Broke Up The Time
Shurely?
IT'S A TRAP
COUNTING CROWS!!!!
Don't think it's a patch on 07 yet
But M83, Fuck Buttons, Frightened Rabbit have been great.
Much as I love Hella Good
I will be blaming you if this happens :)
What else do NERD have to do
to persuade people not to buy their awful new album - IT HAS A GIANT RED GORILLA ON THE COVER PEOPLE!
SFG's =
Super Furry Granimals?
"particularly the moments that feel like I’m watching the band through a red tint"
That'll be the red filter then...
Dear the Rascals
Most basic camcorders now come with a steadicam button.
Kind regards,
It would seem like the ideal time and place to go into it
The review already mentions casual sexism and the Farrakhan stuff. If you're going to make more serious claims about what you "personally think" then back them up already.
I can walk here in my lunch hour
Kind of an odd location but thanks!
I am a huge fan of the Green Album
but I have no desire to hear a single song from this. Why didn't they just dress up like clowns on the cover and get it over with?
You neglected
the Apollo 440 album mysteriously played between acts. I thought I would be embarassed having bought this at the time, but it still had its moments!
Yeah
The promoters get a mixed wrap, but just for the Thermals gig last year.
After all the comments on the other post
I still like this band. Although the Rakes did write Strasbourg, which was brilliant.
Eddy Grant!
End of festival.
Quite enjoyed the Mystery Jets
Think it could do well on the radio too. The video is a bit mobile phone cinema advert though.
When do these go on sale?
And how come they're playing the Forum and the ICA?
Ah I think I meant Politics
Will take a look for the remixes though, nice.
I got the album today
Pomme is really standing out at first, but I'm enjoying the whole "Nightvision"-esque sound. Is his other album worth getting, La Ritournelle aside?
"all your favourite stains on the pop mattress"
it was the best of times
"some dead Turk"
it was the worst of times
Yeah
but at least have ONE album. Even Test Icicles managed that!
Late May
Too long!
PS that is a link to their January uni tour dates, they have more standard venues for Feb. No London I can see though damn it.
Great picture
"Hi, you're through to the Corey hotline. Here are some words that rhyme with Corey..."
Say it ain't so!
Hope the new material is more original on record. When is the album due btw?
FAO Myspace
Acts That Can Fill Madison Square Garden:
Beastie Boys
Bruce Springsteen
Billy Joel
Jay-Z
etc
Acts That Can't:
Overrated Daft Punk Imitators
"those beats – those beats!"
Esmerelda!
You know you've written a concept album when:
The review spends as much time relaying the story behind your album as covering the music itself.
That or
All Hail West Texas. Or both!
I enjoyed it too
a little over-stuffed towards the end though. Still, off to buy this after work.
Especially when they're in Uxbridge
ULU please!
A: What kind of parties do you go to?
B: Yesterday Went Too Soon is a pretty good album, haterz...
Nope, only you
You visionary!
Also:
"Three years ago that was such a dead-end thing, there was no hope in hell for me to come out with this shit in London and have people give me any respect for trying something different."
in the same interview as:
"(But Britain is) more tolerant, it’s a multi-cultural society and we’re more open to shit... We can come out with an artist who is proud of where they’re from and can talk about those things or raise questions about terrorism where no-one else will stick their neck out, and we can do this just like we gave you a transsexual in the eighties who was singing reggae"
PS: Mango Pickle Down River is a war crime all of its own.

Nice one
You missed out on Pharoahe Monch on Sunday though, he really showed DOOM how to put on a rap show!
