Have you not seen every thread where a band announces a solitary london gig? It gets about three posts saying 'do they not realise their are metal/folk/disco/party folk (delete as appropriate) fans in the north east/manchester/outer hebrides?'. I was lampooning this common occurence.

Manchester? Don't the organisers realise that music fans also live in London?

I went on the night after and the sound seemed fine to me but like you said the gig didn't seem full. !!!, however, were absolutely ace and by the end of it I don't think there was a single person in the room who wasn't dancing.

The gig at The Portland Arms wasn't Ariel Pink (I'm assuming you are referring to when they were supporting Panda Bear with Signer on Jan 16th), Ariel was refused a work permit so wasn't allowed to play, so his band just did some stuff without him.

I love this album... 'This Sporting Life', The Bagmans Gambit, Engine Driver, On the Bus Mall. All great songs and there are others too. Did anyone read the NME review a couple of weeks back... gave it 4/10. They said something that really pissed me off, can't remember what it was but something about starting fights.

It looks like that final challenge off that 80s BBC2 program the adventure game. I just want to know where the grumbling plant has gone.

Let Go soundtracked almost every journey I made in my car for over a year. Admittedly, I was too lazy to change it but it's a great driving album.
