this:

"Yes, maybe with a bit more 'machinery' behind her, she'd have sold a few more records, but who had heard of Speech Debelle this time last year, and who signed her up?

She also perhaps fails to recognise the fact that, just because a panel of industry judges believe your album to be the best of a given time period, it doesn't mean, in reality, that the rest of the country (or even a sizeable chunk) will find it remotely appealing, good though the album may be."

is a very good point.

what an album

I already own it, but may myself consider 'upgrading'.

mmm

this will either be great, or a total car-crash.

worst
album cover
EVER

fair play,

my bad.

errr

quite early to start selling tickets, innit? Though it will probably sell out in seconds. ATPers love Pavement.

hahaha

I heard he was playing in York, but The Duchess?!! Hahahahahaha

Oh dear. He'll have a hard time re-scheduling that date - I hear The Duchess is booked up 'til April with Genesis cover bands. Apparently.

fuck yeah!

young, black, female, and talented

Brown and chums are creaming their pants already, for more reasons than one.

you must've been standing pretty close to where I was

cuz the lady ninja was dancing just to the right of me.

It was a great great show. Good photos as well!

At first i thought the venue was a tad too small for them, but it was actually really great - quite 'intimate' in every sense.

I really like this album

I think it's better than 100 Broken Windows, I really do.

givashit about the article

but it slightly amuses me how PETA describe chickens as 'sensitive and intelligent'. I haven't had a good heart-to-heart conversation over a bottle of Pinot Grigio with a chicken in a long time.

Before any PETAians start flaming me - I've had a long day and I just want to go home.

HOW WILL I GO ON

even if you ignore the lineup

that sounds like the worst festival ever. No drugs alcohol or airhorns? Fuck that.

wow

I was looking at those venues thinking "my, they're pretty big for the Kaiser Chiefs", then i noticed Wembley at the bottom.

Are they really that big? What the hell happened?

^^^ lol

yay

York date!

oooooh

this might be quite interesting...

is there ever going to be the

second part of this feature? Because I really would love to know how I might go about getting some of my material reviewed...

George Clinton was immense

I will not hear a bad word spoken about that set. They played 'Cosmic Slop' for frick's sake! And finished with 'Maggot Brain'! Awesome.

MBV were indeed brilliant. Hot Chip really impressed me, particularly since I'm not a huge fan of them on record.
One of my highlights was The Coral. Man I love that band, and tragically I'd forgotten - so i was happy for being reminded.
Sugarhill gang was a lot of fun, particularly after the cock-fest that was Aphex Twin.

not having heard much metallica

I can't imagine what this must've sounded like. But strangely enough, as I see those photos, all I can hear in my head is Toto's 'Hold The Line'. Just imagine it for yourself for a minute.

Hope is Important, wed17th?

Hmmm... very tempting. I hope the 'others' includes Captain EP.

oooooh

6th Oct in York. Cool.

I fucking LOVE

that ATDI video. Makes me laugh everytime. Brilliant :D

at first

I was genuinely shocked that Portishead didn't make the final cut for the Mercury Music Prize.

Now I'm appalled that Third didn't even make the top five for these here Pluto Awards.

For shame, DiS, for shame.

that lineup

looks pretty good

Shame it's the same weekend as Elbow on sunday. And that I'm unlikely to get the time off. :(

only been once

to see Erol Alkan in.... December last year? I think.
It's a wierd place. Drinks are pricey. Tickets were expensive (but that's probably to be expected). The layout's a bit odd. But I had a great night there. Shame to see it go.

steak that

scouting for grills
Soupmovies

I'M TRYING THE BEST I CAN

Bloc Pate lol

they should've had Taking Back Sundae / Sorbet. Missed a treat, there.

Slowdive Souvlaki... I'll keep thinking.

I heard

Strange Overtones this morning on t' radio. I liked it a lot. I must hear the rest of the album now :)

the post MD backlash has begun...

*runs*

Would anyone care

if she wasn't, like, 12 or whatever?

*throws smoke bomb and runs away laughing*

Ahhh

Leeds Academy...

...so THAT's where I'm seeing Elbow. Great!

i haven't been this excited about an album

for ages. YES YES YES I love TVotR.

oh

I didn't realise that Neon Neon was Boom Bip and Gruff Rhys. *duh*

a live DVD of cornelius?

sweeet. Even better if it was the concert in Royal Festival Hall (though I doubt it).

pwned

Wooooo!

Animal abuse

PETA's gonna be all over yo' ass.

I just

pooped and weed in my pants. I beat you both.

Oh god

I really liked Original Pirate Material, so I bought A Grand Don't Come For Free.... was mighty disappointed, mostly filler to keep the story going. But just looking at that yootoob vid of Blinded by the Lights - which I thought was one of the better tracks on the album - was just cringeworthy... jesus, what happened?!

yes yes yes yes yes yes yes

yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yesssssssssss

Not that I really care much about the Mercury's

but i'm amazed that Portishead didn't make the top 12. Genuinely.

But am I surprised? Considering both Adele and Estelle made the cut? Not really.

Fuck.

No need.

ARGH!!!

YES YES YES

very excited. I'm gonna drink more real ale and cider than is wise.

"Epic historical fail"

I'm in stitches :D

How did an article about Boosh fest turn into a debate about which russian city the Nazis besieged?

Oh dear lord

that looks awful.
