did i hear someone say...

vagina dentatis?

me too.

bumped into their manager at a gig the other day. prompted me to get Finelines out of the mothballs.

good album.

though, somehow, it doesn't sound quite as great as it did when I was 17... ha.

beautifully put...

Mr Ram

oh, and never really cared much for redcars, but...

that blog on why they've split is absolutely spot on. should send a chill of recognition down the spine of everyone who's ever been in a band.

big, big shame

tsf have been a huge fave of mine for a couple of years now. live, they were monsters, and their new songs were really starting to get scary.

curious to see what they all end up doing.

i say yes to this

yes in a big way.

wow.

and you don't even like these guys!

mind-boggling idiocy

i've been sat here for the past couple of minutes reading and re-reading all your ill-informed comments.

listen closely to Timbaland's music and put your petty indie prejudices to one side.

i'm not one of those people who mindlessly goes 'Timbaland's a musical genius'. He's made some pap that he just did for money.

but, hell, he's made some amazing music.

and, yes, he made that music for money too.

familyman...

i really hope that unsavoury, misogynistic tirade was at least semi-ironic.

if not... good God.

i don't hate you Ed

don't let the bastards get you down.

saying that, you guys all hate me for not hating Keane, so I guess it's swings + roundabouts.

you c*nt.

but! but!

why by something you have very little intention of ever listening to...?

this is how the lady sold 10m copies of the last one.

:|

how many Kasabian fans....

do we think will pick this up by mistake?

:)

his album came out...

in the week when Scissor Sisters were outselling the entire Top 40. Combined.

that's gotta hurt, especially considering that he basically created the SS.

Amen to that...

if you'll excuse the pun.

really gutted i couldn't make this, but glad to hear Mr. Spaceman's back.

who would have thought...

that loads of people could have conflicting opinions about something as open and shut as a band's 'best' song?

crazy.

and it's obviously the version of Fake Plastic Trees from 'Live @ The 10 Spot'.

:)

too late...

Timbo's already made two of the best albums Jacko never had with his new best mate Justin Timberlake.

JT's first album, amazingly, was largely derived from songs The Neptunes offered to Mr Jackson.

FOO'

happy happy joy joy

that is all.

TWENTYSIXFEET

tonight. Camden. that's where i'd rather be...

and that's where i'll be.

ya.

WHAT???

that would have been so cool.

i think he's more likely to say...

producers in this genre and more like ideas-men who have legions of grunts doing the actual engineering without ever getting credited.

i mean, Pharell, P Diddy, etc. employ people who just go through CDs and sample sounds for them, for example.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

got to this one a bit late, but...

man. the list of questionable bands you like appears to literally be as long as my arm.

dude, seriously...

i know you're probably trying to shock people and stuff, but you really need wooden ears to refer to Cobain as a 'talentless wanker' with any kind of conviction.

grow up.

thanks...

for clearing that one up.

Harrowdown Hill

"We think the same things at the same time, we just can't do anything about it".

If that isn't a big f__k-off pop hook, I really don't know what is.

Fact.

to quote someone from yesterday...

i quite like their new single.

i'm going straight to hell.

:|

the smart money is on...

these kids being signed by somebody by early next year.

along with PopShop, they're about the best unsigned band around.

true story.

is it just me...

or does that dude on the right from WAS look like Dick Valentine from Electric Six...?

and, Mr. Diver, you bring laughter to my day once more.

why do I get the feeling we've been here before...?

http://www.drownedinsound.com/content/view/1043654

oh, that's why.

i think Oasis has doomed the DiS boards to the same Groundhog Day that plagues their music.

i've routinely heard these guys referred to by seasoned giggers as...

the tightest band they've ever seen.

i always feel quite sorry for any other bands they play with (I've played with them) because they shame all and sundry within about a five-mile radius.

still haven't gotten into them on record, mind...

popshop =

one of the best bands around, signed or unsigned. especially live.

really hope it happens for Gypsy this time around 'cause Querelle were f__king magic too.

...

what does "For a band like Scissor Sisters, it makes all the right moves, and surprisingly, a little more" mean?

a little more what? a little more desperation to break America?

a little more desperation to sound like a 90s remix of a 70s Elton John track...?

secret in the way that...

their 'rave' in Hoxton Sq. was secret, it would appear.

.

true that.

i remember Wayne Coyne saying once that even after the Lips signed to an indie, they were basically one van theft away from splitting up.

meli_thing...

i'm sure you're a lovely person, but right now I am consumed by, y'know, anger whose motivation is unadultrated jealousy...

at the risk of sounding smug...

i DID suggest last week, in response to the 'Left' review, that a third album was by no means inevitable.

be nice to me - this does not happen often.

wow

this is hella late in the day to post a news story.

no-one's gonna read this now, but...

judging my the near-unanimous critical slaughtering and their near-zero album sales... i don't think the third album's all that inevitable.

no offense...

but I genuinely hope you didn't seriously mean that.

good god.

not sure why I was expecting scorn to be poured...

...on one of my favourite bands, but I'm glad I'm not the only one that remembers they were genius.

don't you mean...

p!atd ?

=)

surely, it's just going to rain, no?

...

there's nothing innovative about writing the way people speak...

it is, in fact, about as old as Shakespeare. and that's pretty old.

there's no longer anything shocking about using everyday phrases in works of art. some people do it, some people don't.

not too sure those that do deserve at £20k bonus, but you know what they say about 20k bonuses....

they're okay if you have them.

i have to agree with this fellow...

there are lots of bands with dodgy dress sense. this does not preclude them from making good music.

similarly, my opinion of this album would not be lifted had I been serviced with a lighter that doubled up as a bottle opener 'cause that has less then zero to do with the music.

it is beyond sad...

that I have to miss this beacuse I will be at Truck.

it's a bit like being asked to pick between fingers on my hand...

Marvin & The Gayes?

...

...

I mean, really.

i am greatly biased, but...

this album's a cracker. the scary thing is that there are a few unbelivable tunes that didn't even make the cut. someone sign these muckers!

read more carefully...

it's Timbaland that said hip-hop's too easy.

i don't think there's anyone out there that would argue with this assertion coming from one of the three or four architects of the modern hip-hop sound...

this review...

reads like a press release.

that's one hell of an astute observation

i imagine writing a three-chord guitar song takes a long time?
