i quite like it
but:
"Despite these lofty ambitions, there isn't a trace of over-indulgence on the entire album;"
aside from it having strings on almost every track and some guitar parts over laid 12 times? If anything it is its over indulgence that lets it down, because they are too ambitious and become bland.
.
she is a FAKE story.

hmmm
muse, richard hawley or hot chip, i cannot decide. but one of those will definately win.
the person that wins is always a different type of artist to last year, and muse are kind of unique and will probably be rewarded for it. i was actually suprised by their nomination.
SHINE 9 WAS AMAZING!
i played that to death.
it had everyone.
almost as good as the brit awards double album of 96...
i want to say
that i first heard this song when they recorded it for dior, for a fashion show. it was much longer and had a 45 second drum solo as the intro and was actually much better. they have radio friendlied it to the point of destruction. good review though.
this has been watered down
it does not have the energy of their live show or the variety. smacks of radio charming if you listen to the changes from the demo.
everything i adore came well before/

that ring
the ring is the mystery jets defining prop. i believe it appears on the front of their album sans face due to legal problems.
that picture is from the mystery jets gig with jamie t and les incompetents at reading fez.
also, jamie t is incredible. both live and on record he is easily one of the most exciting acts around.
p.s.
it was out of their hands, i.e record company politiks.
21, 31.. whats the difference
she's still a paedo.
anyhow, i was told the lead singer went to pop music writing school and went out with katie melua when he was there
anyone that knows anything
knows that both Tupac and Biggy live on an island called Dre Island owned by Dr. Dre and faked their deaths to get royalties. Thats why they can produce so much music (aka cash~ in hand)
he is
next level
(if you excuse the pun).
i feel sorry for them..
because their first album shows an intelligence and potential for greatness that most first albums never get close to, and they obviously they have the second ready to go. Plus arm-wrestling until you break your arm must be fuckling painful.
reading between the lines....
A band who've clearly had enough of touring. Just look at their festival appearences last summer, they already looked like they never wanted to play a gig ever again on stages that most bands would dream of playing.
hmm...
good to see we can see a strokes review with someone using the H-word..
oh wait..

Larrikin Love - Six Queens / Little Boy Lost
This London connection is irrelevant. London is a big place, like cambridge, oxford, liverpool, manchester, newcastle and cardiff all stapled together.
They are doing something that is interesting and different, and along with mystery jets and jamie T, and so many others should be celebrated. Everyone that was at the temple following the rota debacle should adequately be able to defend them.
Larrikin Love - Six Queens / Little Boy Lost
they're as good as snow white.
Ace review though Charlie.
Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To
pretty standard but by no means awful Franny Pudding.
Mystery Jets
i've seen them several times and no-one has quite summed them up like that before (if that is even possible). I am also really quite suprised that you not only managed to reference the libertines but do it in a completely complimentary fashion.
They are the most earth-shattering live band and match it on record. Not only this but they are without doubt unparalled as individuals. They represent every single thing that is uplifting and important within music.
This review also highlights just why DiS is vital and the NME is dangerously flawed.
