#Where once you wiped away my tears and cleaned my grazed knees#
You hang-glide with the Numanoids and snub my rare disease#
And if you like the blues but don't read the Guardian...
the real deal, T-Model Ford is on tour - starting today!!! A true delta legend.

and it's usually the highlight of the season. Shame there's none of the other SGC bands on the bill (Nat Johnson, Champion Kickboxer, Slow Down Tallahasse et al)... unless they're planning another xmas show.

have i stumbled on to The Onion
by mistake?
I sort of agree. The reason why i respect Billy Bragg
is that he's willing to get his hand's dirty. Attending Labour confrences as a delegate, speaking at back-room smokey meetings, not just the Wembley stadium shindigs... It's a shame the right don't have equally articulate artists. For example, musicians who could argue intelligently the case for intervention in evil dictatorships. Sadly this is deemed too 'unfashionable' in indieland, so we're denied the chance to have that argument and forcefed meaningless slogans instead.
The Manics are probably the biggest hypocrits - their support for regimes where power is passed to the brother of a former leader, and free press and trade unions are banned, is particularly sickening.
Floodland-era Sisters Of Mercy
OMD
Chaka Demus and Pliers
Well, that clears that up...
Cheers. Look forward to further OIB releases... always lovingly packaged!
It's this a re-release on a different label?
I thought this came out early in the year on OIB Records? It looks like the same cover and tracks... I'm confused.com.
A word of warning:
Phrases like "psychotically overambitious, ballsy, bewildering, beautiful, mad, terrifying etc etc" were once also used to describe 'Tales From Topographic Oceans' and look where that got music.
Great review mind.
Tindersticks and Richard Hawley
were pretty special. That new 'Sticks record really is sublime.
But Mr Adams ramshackle half hour set of Broken Family Band songs was the highlight for me.
Absolutely Cuck-shoe
The Nike's You Can't Remember
Is This What They Used To Call DMs
The Hush Puppies She Sent and the Hush Puppies She Said She Sent.
I voted for Half Man Half Biscuit
even though they were shamefully left off the list.
Is the sheffield shindig shold-out?
Doesh anyone know?
And Taylor's loose-leaf Yorkshire Gold at that...
or it aint tea. It's, er, dust.
^ I agree.
Being a George Formby completist and obsessive, I have bought their singles purely becasue of constant Formby comparisons in reviews. They have very little in common.
I have them all and they are all fantastic
I think I'm the only person (apart from Darren himself) who thinks that his every release gets better and better. I find the early Hefner records unlistenable now, but these EPs are so subtle and understated - a real treasure.
One question - how come this is coming out on 'Belka' (a label i've not heard of) instead of the glorious Static Caravan who put out the actual EPs??
Their awful cover of Sophie B Hawkins
on the 'I'm Not Going To Teach...' flip caused horrible, horrible earthquakes inside my lobe-brain.
^ I like Mama I'm so sorry
such a simple bluesy loop but I have no idea what the noise is. Kind of an intergalactic alien twisted harmonica.
Good news indeed,
I hope it's suitably electro-tastic like the Kitchen.
^ it has to be
(hence the lack of snide remarks)
National Shite Day - HALF MAN HALF BISCUIT
Old fools - MAGNETIC FIELDS
Je ne parle pas francais - GIRLS ALOUD
Come feel the sun - TINDERSTICKS
Soup - THE WEDDING PRESENT
Cinema vs house - BROKEN FAMILY BAND
thats all i have
oh no. May have to actually buy MoS
Thanks a bunch McFly. Forgive you this once but please keep releasing 7" singles too...
The remaining four had better be Half Man Half Biscuit, Tindersticks, The Wedding Present and Up Jum
trouble I tells ya.
Good grief. What a dull week for singles...
it could possibly only be made duller by the obligatory occasional re-release of Further by Longview.
That headline belongs in the earlier pun thread!
but yes a real shame. Everything On The Bone have ever released has been wonderful!
What about the tune 'Kiss Loves You' by Lach
here you have a nerdy anti-folker singing a tune about being a nerdy anti-folker who loves Kiss and has a Kiss lunchbox, sung in a style (particularly live) that Kiss would clearly despise, but sung in the style of a Kiss song as if being sung by a nerdy anti-folker, which he is. And does. Erm, what am i talking about?
Talk about obvious stats. Good grief.
Whatever next?... "Scientists have discovered that 93% of all music festivals have a line-up featuring the Afro Celt Sound System"
It's a real shame Xenomania are no longer involved with this new record
...what a missed opportunity!
That new NERD single is bonkers in the nut
but right good like.
blimey, that made my splutter on my cup of tea
...perhaps i should be more concerned with sips than pips and tips and hips and lips.
I will now stop.
I'm going to eat an apple at the races because...
... i'm more concerned with pips and tips than hips and lips.
I went out in a wig last weekend,
next thing I know I'm wearing Wiley's Rolex.
Nothing to do with the article. Just thought i'd roadtest the gag.
Absolutely... I know who I'd rather go for a beer with
and have on me dansette... And it aint old Moodychops from oxford
McFly to 'do a radiohead'?...
... wave goodbye to Mr Tune and release album after album of turgid pompous electrodirge?
or Emo-ch Powell perhaps?
or Michael Portill-emo etc etc etc
^ does he love you too?
And if so, has he harvested that love and the conversations and stuff, to create a sublime, poignant, bitter-sweet indiepop gem?

And blood on the sheets and black candles wherever I step
Black candles wherever I step, black candles everywhere...

You're a sick satanic lady, you're full of hate and I just love that
I just love that#
